Im Back, and pressing on.

I took a little break from the board, to morn the passing of a Friend.
Now Im back, to normal pretty much.
Ive got to work a shutdown this weekend, but was off today, so last nite, I grabbed my favorite hound, and went for a short hunt.
I hunted in the Piney Woods, of the Moore Plantation.
I chose this area because the big creek bottoms, are flooded pretty bad, and the creeks are too high.
It was raining, but not too hard.
My hound struck a track, and started working it up, it sounded like a cold track, but I know it wasnt, because of the rain, he got it moving, stopped, and checked a tap, Locating, but not commeted. I just sat on a log, and let him figure it out.
He got down, and trailed on, got over a hill, and I could barely hear him.
I got up and started following, barely able to hear him over all the hills. I heard him locate, and tree, then he went into a hard chop. It took me about 20 minutes to get to my hound.
I shined from a distance, and found the coon, it took a while to shoot him out, he would look then quit. Then Boom the coon hit the ground and it was a big one.
I got lost on my way back to the truck, and it was raining, the coon started to get heavy, but I toted him.
My hound started pulling on the leash, but I didnt let him go, because I wasnt exactly sure where I was, and it was raining pretty hard.
I called my wife, from the woods, that made me feel better, then finally I managed to find my way out.

It was a pretty tough outing, but all in all I had a good time.
Thanks for reading.

Hey Tex,

Early last week we had some Ice, Mostly North of Jasper Tx,
everything south of there seemed stay above freezing (Just Barely)
The Chances that Ive had to Coon hunt, have been great, my hounds looked like they couldnt tree a Crippled Coon last Summer, now they are darn near 100%.
Im afraid Chester may have got to Sara Pearl, before I cought it though, If she is pregnant, and you would like a good Walker Pup, Ill give you one.

Rick,
I hunted this weekend with Michael Brigman, he said to tell you he was sorry for the loss of your good friend. He said that he had often heard you talk about him. We went to a hunt in Crockett last weekend w/no luck of winning. (terrible weather to boot) We also went duck hunting for the last 2 weekends and got our limit both weekends so far.
Glad to see you back on the board keep your head up! Jan

Thanks Jan,

Im glad you and Mike got in some hunting, he is a good friend of mine.
Please Tell Him for Me, that the Pup, didnt make it, but Van Williams is wanting to give him the mother.
The mother is a Good Squirrel dog, and he will show her to Mike, in the Woods.
Ive told Mike, a lot of hunting Stories about my friend Jody, they even talked on the phone once here at my house. Im sure gonna miss my him.
Thanks for sending me the message.
Good hunting.
