Our 10 day law sucks!

Here in IL we have a 10 day befor coon season no running hound law, and its crap! I still dont know why they do it?? We have a 10 day law after season ends too. what other states have this law? A buddie of mine thought the 10 day law wasnt inforced, so he went anyway a few years back and got a hand full of tickets and a court date, so im staying at home and waiting it out. IT SUCKS!

Back When Fur price was high!

people were getting and early start filling their freezer with coon hides. Easier to catch to crooks when they aren't supposed to be out. Ohio did away with their Closed running season law about 5 yrs ago. Some states still have it. Each state is different. might ask your state why it is still in place? Not like any one is getting rich on coon hides any more!

I hete it too but I use the 10 day law to catch up on the "honey do" list. Because I take full advantage of hide season. lol

Jesse,

WHAT 10 DAY LAW???? You know that us OUTLAWS down here around CUTLER, AMERICA, never heard of that. You do remember that I'm RELATED to the 2 RICHIE'S. LOL, Besides that, as BAD as our DOG POWER is, we couldn't hurt the coon population anyway. JUST KIDDING.

For me, it's time to rest up for that hill hunting, south of Campbell Hill & Ava. I don't hunt my summer time spots that hard during season, & very rarely knock one out there.

I don't know what I'm going to do to this young female during this period. If I don't hunt her regular she barks alot in the pen. I'll probably put a muzzle on her, I don't like that BARK ELIMINATER collar, I think it made her tighter mouthed on track????

Have you got your BOONE & CROCKETT BUCK YET???? I don't deer hunt, but I've seen a couple of nice ones so far. Boy some of these deer are sure getting tame around here. They will be standing within 20 yards of the road, & won't hardly look up as you drive by.

If you & Jeremy want to take a hunt some night, holler & we'll meet somewhere, & kick-em out then set on the tail gate & drink coffee or A BUD. LOL

My wife told me last night that the ten day law was christmas time for her! I think she has plans for me. Ha.....

Hey John - we need to go for some turnlooses here soon. You mentioned drinking a cup of coffee on the tailgate, I could of used some this morning, it was cool and we had a HEAVY frost.
My ole hounds will be doing backflips in the pen by the time opening day gets here.

I never did quite understand that & opening on a sunday ?? SUP with that ??

I have questioned that to many of our State Reps and Congressional folks and they just slump over and say it has always been that way

10 day cooling period they call it. To allow the game wardens time to pursue duck hunters LOL also so we are not tempted to knock out a few, and though I argue about it can't seem to get anyone else on baord to write the DNR and get all the clubs in IL to do the same.............we have to work together to get this done away with

Nov 5th is always the opening day if it be Sun - Mon - Sat don't matter

Stupid as just 10 miles away WI is in full swing and I'm told it is because our furs are not prime yet what a joke what is even worse is that I have to wait till sunset to go coon hunting and all day long the trappers are out there setting their conabers on fence rows and game trails (not all trappers just the lazy ones) just waiting for my dogs to run into !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those things scare the heck out of me.......last year had the dogs running a screaming track and all of a sudden snap !!!! and they went dead silent.....ran into the area and there they stood with a nice coon in the trap which could have been my dog and this trap did not have a tag - was set on a fence line right on a game trail and I had permission to be there !!!!!!! The landowner did not know of anyone asking for traping permission so nope they snuck in and was traping without permission

Come to find out the person traping was traping the land behind the large section of woods.............a 300 acre picked corn field ?????????? All the traps were on the fence line attached to the fence which was not on the property of the land he had permission to trap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well everyone have a good season, we'll hit it hard Sat morning for pheasants..........and Sun night for coon hunting !!!!!!!

"YES"

There are more than a few of them road trappers in your country, seen it !! I do like to trap as well but never have felt rite about settin along the road & never have either I guess.Always need to be considering the non target critters,if your ethical & have a brain!!
