Hound Size
Within the last year and a half I have tried to get a few female plott females so that I could breed to a couple of the males that I have for bear hunting. Just wondering if anyone has noticed that the females have been bred to be real small? Maybe this is all breeds but I have really noticed it in the Plott hounds around Wisconsin. I have a Wipeout bred walker female that is mid to upper 50's and I love that size. Personally, I really don't like these 30-35 pound females. Just wondering why people are breeding for this size? Is it looks? I have heard smaller dogs hold up better than big dogs but I've seen big dogs hold up just as well as the small ones. By that I mean bigger not sloppy. I have just been paying more attention to characteristics since I would like to do some breeding in the future. I'm just having a hard time not getting past the looks as well as performance. Was just curious on everyone's opinion its just one thing that's been on my mind lately.
Thanks!
