Savage Sam

Does anyone know the dog that played savage sam in the movie? on utube a lady says the dogs real name is tom dulley but I don't think it can be rhode's tom dulley because the movie came out in 1963, I think that would have been before his time. All I could tell my kids is that was before my time, but would like to also know for myself. Thanks for the help.
