university tick study
Furman Uniuversity in South Carolina is doing a study on tick distribution and what diseases they carry where. They are seeking ticks from all over to be sent in. I figure everyone near ticks on this board picks them off their dogs and could easily send them in for the study. Here's a link to the study:

I corresponded with the guy collecting ticks, John Quinn, and here is what he had to say:
Emily,
It would be great to get the word out more broadly. Our original scope was the southeast, but in talking with Dr. Roark we realized we could collect at a national scale. Thus, if you and your fellow hunters would be willing to submit ticks, we would love to include them in our data set! For the ticks, I believe that if they are dead and not in liquid there should not be a problem. One important aspect is including as much information about the location the ticks were collected. County scale is good, more local is better.
thanks
john
