DC 40 Problem

I have a DC 40 collar that will show yardage but doesn't show the dog or the the track just a question mark. I can run my 30 collar with it the (40) collar as I said shows the yardage while the 30 collar still shows the track and dog, but the 40 just shows yardage and question mark..
