Garmin Question

I have a garmin dc 30 and we have had very heavy cloud cover the last few days. The cloud cover is from a couple pretty good storms we have had.

My question is will a storm or heavy cloud cover cause the garmin not to work right. I was only able to get around 200 yards in plain sight. I haven't had any problems with it before.
