A Trip to the North Country

The Dall sheep lives along the rocky slopes and canyons of of the northwest, from British Columbia to Alaska. I was lucky enough to have a sister-in-law and her husband live in that land for a few years and they invited me up at a time in my life I was doing a little wildlife photography and outdoor writing. The Dall sheep was high on my list for animals I wanted to capture on film and this is one of those images. I can well remember the spongy tundra under my feet below the mountain and how good the hard rock felt when I reached the climb into sheep country. My move west as a young man pushed me outdoors and I've never regretted it......
