Garmin Question

I have hunted with my Garmin for over 8 months and have never had a problem with it, but last night it dropped the DC-30 collar at 187 yards and never picked it back up. When found the dog collar was still on but wouldn't pick it up. Turned collar and receiver off, then back on and it picked it up again. Has anyone had this problem? If so do you know what caused it?
