Shock collars

Has anyone had any experience with the Sportdog houndsman 3200 shock collar,I have only used tri tronics in the past but my buddy's new G2 Trashbreaker does'nt seem to have much range at all,only hits if you can actually hear the dog,it is not anywhere near the 2 miles it says can reach,this is flat ground too.I don't use a shock collar much but I want a reliable one when I need it.
