Looks like Light'in will be going to TN here in a few days my Dad will have him down there where he can hunt him & we wont weary so much about getting him killed where he lives hes been on the box for about the last 2 yrs.

Not sure if he will fool with breeding him or not he has alot going on hes pretty busy he owns a store so alot of his time is tied up there.

Keep up the good WORK I have told you MANY TIMES he would make you a NICE HOUND ANY DOG that goes out & trees the FIRST NIGHT ever in the woods is something I feel you can work with,NOT MANY will TREE the first night out that I have seen in 48 yrs. And NEVER even seen a coon, its bred in them.((IT JUST COMES NATURAL)) !

Steve, I think theres 94 pups on the ground or was we lost several after the papers were already sent in so now I wait till I see there going to live for sure I wait till 4-6 weeks now.

Things are looking up for Light'in well I'll let him prove himself in the BREEDING PEN, JUST LIKE THE WOODS !

Thread is Todd Smith Faye Tonight nice looking & has a HUGH MOUTH but 99.9% of the pups off Light'in has better than avg. mouths on them.

These are the young dogs they are calling Super Star out in Utah Bill Toops was telling me. These young dogs are something else Bill said.I know a man cant buy any of them ol Russ sure is happy with them as well as alot of other folks.

It makes me happy to see these young hounds coming on just wish I was able to do more myself in the woods.

yep I'm having fun with these young dogs and to have them coming along like they are makes it better yet. Before my Ciscoe III died we had bred a good single registered bearhound whom a friend owns. After some thinking I had him pick one out for me to follow in Ciscoe IIIs footsteps. After 20 + years of this line people questioned me as why I would replace the dog with one out of a single registered dog. Well I'm glad I did cuz Ciscoe III died of a heart attack and this young male is doing great. I've never got hounds because of titles they had or because of a certain color. I want one that performs and this young dog is doing great. He ran and treed on his first coon and wont stand around your feet when the box opens. He is all business and my Jabo pup is right along side of him. The Jabo pup can locate and not miss a tree with the best of them and at 10 months old I couldnt be happier with him. No trash so far and they handle great. Going to try for that 50 pounder in a little over a week. I know where I could get one for sure but he is one of four littermates that I used for starting the pups. I've been feeding those four for a couple years and I think they know their routine in helping to start a pup.lol We can hear a lone wolf howling some nites while hunting and hope a pack doesnt come in there otherwise there will be some problems. You take care of yourself. Hopefully my wife can go back to work Wed. Here is a pick of those coons at 1 year and the date is wrong on the camera. I keep these guys wormed and healthy. There mom was run over and I tried to keep as little human contact with them as I could.They turned out fat and healthy. I keep a opposum around there also to help with training.

davecat them are some nice ringtails there big enough to work on a dog NICE !

Craig, Josh has been hunting Jazz along time by himself he has a bright future if nothing happens to him.

I get

teased alot for being too nice too animals. Nobody is allowed to shoot these coons or the opposum I let hang around. They are very important to getting a young pup started. They are not tame by no means These guys take the pups thru the water and really put a good run on before they finally climb. They usually climb a cedar tree so they are not too far off the ground which is good for the young dogs also. I have not let the dogs chase these coon for awhile. My wife is still home and now my youngest boy has been home 2 days sick in bed. My wife hopes to go back to work Monday I guess. I'm going to go get a flu shot down at the local pharmacy so I dont get what they have. I've got a full mount bear to mount on its back and they want it made into a coffee table with its feet holding the glass. We will see how that goes and will send a pic when I'm done with it. Just trying to figure out how to have the glass stationary on the feet without someone being able to see how it is attached to the feet. I wanted to have wood around the edge of the glass but they didnt want any wood on it. Take care and hope to get there or you here for a coonhunt.

Im like you we live at the edge of a big woods Coons come in here my wife feeds them & these pups go NUTS I have allways said my pups get a head start from where I live.

Now as far as killing them well as a rule I dont just because of these young dogs.

Two winters ago I had poured out a row of shell corn there was about 2' of snow on the ground I go to the back door & heres this row of coons eating this shell corn everything has been snowed in for several several days so I go to counting & theres 13 coons all lined up out there eating I had to take a 2nd count but there was no food for them to get to.

They are allways messing something up in the back yard there not pets by no means we just feed them to keep them around so they can have a place to breed & its good for the pups. Sometimes it about drive us nuts from all the barking but I just block it out ((DONT)) expect to whip a pup for barking at coons then take them to the timber & him or her tree, why tree when you have been getting your rearend troulbe for barking at them !!! it just dont work I seen guys say I dont understand why they wont tree or bark at a coon anymore. (((HELLO))) WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ????

We dont have but maybe one that big here that comes in & eats its a real old Coon its fur is almost white now we seen it for several yrs. now.

Sure would love to come that away & have some of them long races ya'll have up there.

they are some nice big coon. I know what you mean about pups or dogs barking. I can tune it out but my wife gets mad. I always tell her to ignore the dogs but she wont allow herself to do so. Its nice to see the wildlife. Imagine what it would be like if there was no wildlife to watch. Coon are like bears, being big kids who like to check out everything and sometimes getting into trouble. We have had problems with people who own cabins shooting the bears because they get into their bird feeders. Simple solution, get rid of the feeders. What do they expect, there are bears all over. We figure the bears that dont climb and wont go near the rode if they hear or smell anything human are the ones that were blasted with buckshot. Every bear we have ever harvested had buckshot in them. Usually 7 1/2 or 8 shot. Take care.
