Tommy I'm praying for yaw. Its high here but the worst is south and west of us. Amite river at Denham Springs is supposed to crest higher than it has ever been. Be Careful.

We are all safe. When Rhett built his house, he went up 24" higher than what they told him. Good thing, because he was 18" above the highest point it got. All of Rhett's in-laws got flooded. I got 4.5" of water in my house, but I am so blessed. So many in my area have lost everything. I'll post pictures later.

Not much you can do with water in your livingroom, but watch the News and pray for the water to go down.

Eddie, we are blessed, so many others have lost everything. You can not imagine all of the destruction. House after house completely destroyed. And you can't imagine the good hearted people that were there to help. Boats, more than you can could count, picking up people and taken them to safety. Others cooking and feeding the people, both, the ones helping and the ones that had nothing. GOD sent help!!

Rhett and I took Case and Blueduck to the Watson HTX Friday night. Both earned passes. They hard a hard time finding a coon after the flood we had down here. The woods stunk pretty bad, and I don't know how they could even smell a coon. Case went 800-900 yards to get struck, and treed after using 40 mins of hunting time. We walked in and got the coon to look one time. Blueduck had a hard time also. He got struck after 34 mins. The track sounded hot, and he treed after just a few minutes. But he just wasn't treeing right, and left trailing just as we were getting to him, and received a fault. I could see where he was treed on a big log 3 above the water. After Blueduck figured out the track, he went a couple 100 yards and locked down treed with 6 mins left in the hunt. Time was up by the time we got to the tree, and it didn't take long to find the coon. Sure felt good to get back in the woods, and to get my mind off all the repairs I got to make to my house after getting water in it.

Rhett and I took Merle and Clara to Amite to their UKC hunt Friday night. Before they draw the cast, Rhett put my shocking collar on Clara to keep her quite. Little did I know, he set it on No-Bark. I draw a 2 dog cast, collared up and headed to the woods. We turned out in a corn field the first drop. I struck Merle on the first bark as he hit the wood line. 25 yards inside he just slammed a tree, with one big bawl and started chopping. After about 10 chops, he started screaming. That dog gone walker dog must have jumped on him, I thought. The walker started treeing and every now and then Merle would try to tree, but would stop with a scream. When we got close to the tree, Merle ran to me just screaming. The shocking collar was shocking him. I took it off and he just sat there in the edge of the weeds. This had just blown his mine, and my hunt was over before it got started good(-200). We wound up with a dead cast.
Saturday night I took Blueduck to Amite’s Slam event. He split from the other dogs twice, but I couldn’t find the coon. Blueduck ended up with 775 circle, and no minus. The trees were hard to shine, but I know he was missing some of them. These muscadine are just giving him fits. But I was still proud on my young hound, staying put with all of these dogs running around him opening off the tree. Once he trees, you can put him on the score card. Right or wrong, he will be there.

Took Blueduck for a short hunt last night. I sent him up a little oak slash between a pine thicket and a cutover. He struck in at 300 yards and started trailing to the north, then cut back west toward the cutover. The track started breaking down after covering 300 yards in the cutover. I called him out and started back to the truck to head home. When I got to the intersection in the road, I turned left instead of heading back to the truck. It was 8:50pm when I cut him the second time. Ten minutes later he was he was moving a hot track to the south. He covered 300 yards then treed. I drove around and got within 75 yards and walked on in to him. He was treed on a big Pin Oak that went straight up about 40 feet, then had two big limbs that leaned way out to one side. The coon was at the very top of the top limb. After all the slick trees last Saturday night, I wanted to give him this one. My rifle was off, and it took me 20 shots to make contact. At some point in this hunt I lost my shocking collar transmitter. I guess Ill spend Friday back tracking to see if I can find it.

Rhett picked up Hope Sunday evening. He had made a deal with another coonhunter, but has since lost his hunting right. He guy told Rhett that she wouldn't tree with his dog. We took her to Tuesday night with Clara. We must have drop them right on top of a coon, because they left there screaming. They ran him hard for 30 minutes before the track broke down. After about a minute they locked down treed. Hope located first and tree the whole 30 minutes it took us to get to the tree. We couldn't fine the coon but I really think he was there. She aint missed a step since she has been gone.

Donald, Rhett, and I went to Watson's HTX last night. We had 4 dogs show up for the test. We all made our way to Gumswamp to hunt. For the first hour, Donald judged Case, and I judged Jamie Miller's Bert dog. Case earned a pass, treeing a coon in the first 20 minutes, and received one fault on the second time they cut him loose by talking himself into a tree but left it. Bert earned a pass treeing a coon in a pine thicket with 4 minutes left. For the next hour, Jamie Miller judged Donald's Sue female, and Marty Freemen judged Blueduck. Sue received a fault for quiting a track and couldn't get anything else. Blueduck struck in at about 250 and moved it deep into some bad stuff. The track broke down, and we put him on 8. We did this 4 different times before he treed with 4 minutes left in the hunt. We found a kitten coon in the mess of vines, which gave Blueduck his 3rd HTX pass.
We had 3 dogs pass and all earned their HTX title.

I took Merle and Blueduck for a short hunt Sunday night to Gumswamp. For the first drop, I sent Blueduck up an ole logging road toward Wall Bayou. He struck and treed at 350 yards near a powerline. I drove around and found him treed 20 yards from the right of way, on a feeder someone had just recently put up. I shined the tree good and never seen a thing. I think he missed this one, but he sure thought he had it. Next I sent Merle south down Wall Bayou. Merle is tight mouthed and don't bark much on track when he is alone. He just fell treed at 250 yards, but wasn't treeing right. I had started to him went he decided to pack up and leave. He went another 250 yards and opened a few time then treed. This was a huge Pin Oak but, there was nowhere to shine it at all. Two trees no coons seen, but I do think Merle had one.
Should be a cooler tonight. Calling for 67 deg!!!!

Thanks Sleepy and Steve. But I still have work to do on my pictures. I got to get me some type of flood light for taking pictures. This head light just has to tight of a spot for taking pictures.
Donald and I made a short hunt last night. It didn't cool off like we were expecting it too. We turned out Merle and Emmie Lou first. Emmie Lou struck right out the box, and Merle just ran on pass her. She went back to our right 50 yards and treed on a big Live Oak. We searched the tree but could get him to look. Merle Struck at about 500 yards, and was getting deeper all the time, so we trird to get closer. He made a big loop in a cut over and headed back toward us, passed us and headed south. I thought he may be running junk, but he treed in the middle of a pine thicket. We made our way in there and found him on a Big Live Oak. There was only one place where you could see through a small hope in the pines, and there he sat looking down at us.

Merle treed on a huge Pin Oak. These two huge oaks looked like they were one tree. The roots were tied together.
Case was treed with Merle but on the other side of the tree.
Blueduck on a Live Oak. These have been giving him fits. I haven't seen a coon in the last three trees he's treed on. The coons are hitting the Live Oaks hard.

Saturday, Rhett took Blueduck to Watson’s Slam Event. I’m working a turnaround and couldn’t go. I’ll be on this till Thanksgiving, which is really hurting my coonhunting. Brant, Rhett’s nephew went with him. Brant won a pocket knife for winning the bench show with Blueduck. That was one happy boy with his new pocket knife. Rhett draw a two dog cast, and said Blueduck put on a show that night. He didn’t win his cast, but had first and first on the two tree with coons. He got ran off a circle tree for -75 and Rhett called him too fast and got another -125. +450 with -200, ended with a total score of +250. This is the text Rhett sent me 1:00 am that morning. He was very excited.

Donald and I made a short round last night. We turned Blueduck and Emmie Lou out off the end of the Steel Bridge road. Emmie Lou went right and struck a track headed south, and was opening good as she was moving deeper all the time. Blueduck went stright in headed east 250 yards then turned north. He got struck in at 650 and was moving it good. I drove Donald around to within 175 of Emmie Lou, and dropped him off, then headed to Blueduck which was 7 tenths still headed north. He was still running him hard in a cut over as I pulled up, and treed just a few minutes later. I drove to within 80-100 yards of him, but was some of the hardest 80 yards to get through that I been in for some time now. He was treed on a good size Pin Oak at the edge of the swamp, but I couldn't shine the tree for all the low canopy. But I feel sure he had him. By the time I fought my way out I was done. I rode back around and picked Donald up on the steel Bridge road, then called it a night.
