Sounds like Chief is getting it done. Dragon is learning as well but they learn quick. Has no problem picking the tree. Seems to be able to work the old bad tracks as well.

Chief is by far my favorite hound to hunt I can't make myself take anything other then him! He's getting things figured out and it's all coming together so seamlessly! Dragon sure looks good as well I hope they both finish out as strong as they started and I'm sure they will with a little more time!!

Doing a great job Matt these pups will absolutely add whatever it is anyone's kennel might be lacking and really put the fire back under you to get back in the woods!!!

Man asked me the other day to describe chief in one word a lot come to mind but NATURAL was the first!

Matt the best advertisement is put the pups in the hands of hunter who will hunt them and give them a fair chance.

I believe they way Dragon is doing he will make the Breathless Blue Team. He pushing for a starting position
There is a lot of season left and I hope good weather to get him more time in the woods.
He has got a lot of tools to play with It's my job to home in the skill package he has.

12/8 will be there 8 month old birthday I will get him in the woods so he can tree his gift Monday night

Hunted tonight with Dragon and my Lumber dog we treed one. Dragon had first strike all night and I might even give him the first tree on the coon.

Monday they will be 8 months old.

He struck and treed on a tree and if he would have stayed hooked ole Lumber would have been sucking hind tit.

Dragon is learning every night out. Best thing no off game so far.

8 month birthday last night

First dump he went in about 300 yards and started baying. I'm thinking this can't be good. Well got there he found mr possum in tree roots on the creek. Well #8 shock got its job done and he got the heck out of there. Dragon struck in about 200 yards down from there and went down the creek and bang. I got to the tree and he had his mask bandit up high and he was tell me look at me now. Well after several shots I got that one down to him and it hit the ground and fell in the creek of course. We Dragon bailed in and brought him to the bank and finished him off. Next turn same area he went down and struck another track and crossed the creek and treed on the other side about 400 yards down and had another coon. Well to deep to cross so I had to walk all the way back to the small bridge by the truck and come up the other side and he stayed treed the entire time. I shot it out and we called it a night. I figure he is at the corner ready to turn.

Didn't get out till after 9 pm. Took Dragon alone. First dump I cut him and he went out and hunted some and he hit a track but didn't open and a cross the cut corn he went. I heard him at catch something on the ground. Well I waited and he came back with his surprise a possum he sure didn't like the results of that prize.
I load up and went to another ditch with cut overs and steep banks. I cut him loose because he was winding from the truck and he went in about 50 yards and treed. We I got there and it was slick I figured the coon just came down when I drove up. It was a hot tree. Well I told him no and took him off a few yards and cut him loose. Down the bank he went and struck in and what a tough track. I mean under brush small trees and every greens cut all over. He worked and work and finally got it up and moving then bang he treed but it was so thick he couldn't hardly stand on the tree but he had a big boar coon. For at 8 month old that was super impressive in any mans book.
Dragon keeps me on my toes but he is headed in the right direction. He and I will have my possum 101 soon and I think he will run from them when I'm done. This pup knows no fear. Happy go lucky. I like him.

There was so much underbrush he couldn't stand all the way on the tree.

Dragon treed a layup after the possum he caught on the ground. I was a rough night trying to get him to go looking for some reason but that's all part of training is patients.
He is going to have to get my possum 101 training.

Lol. Dragon must hat them possums or something.. Believe you jinxed him talking about how he ain't ran them yet few weeks back.. Every time I bragg on something makes me eat my words. Lol.. I figured these dogs be treeing layup with their bloodline.. Ruger trees a lot of layups..

Your right. Heck he doesn't want to kill them just catch them and bay them. He is death on a coon so I know if he really wanted to kill one he would have no problem doing so.
He is fun to train and he keeps me on my toes or I would get bored.
He won't open on a possum just track it silent and catch it. A coon he opens as soon as he gets scent so I know when he is messing up. He is a very smart pup. I do like that layup ability for sure and that locate a kid can call. He will make it easy come spring if all goes well.
Time will tell.

We got snow today so no hunting for a few days for me.

Dragon is back on my good side. Treed a den and a nice size boar coon.

Charlie Wyatt and hunted and think he like him. He got the hear that locate and hear him really get treed right.

No possums

After talking to Matt I have decided to sell my pup out of ruger and cotton .....she has Been hunted less than a dozen times but is coming along very well......I have a video of her I can send by phone not sure how to put it on here .....she is in Michigan and the price is $500 ....FIRM....the more I hunt her the more the price goes up...jason..517-401-0218

Ole Chief and Dragon have the same tree style and voice. I'd love to see both of them treed on a coon together.
They are getting it done.
We have super cold weather coming in so I'm done for a week at least.

Dragon looked good last night on two big boars with my Nite ch female and she is quick but he beat her hands down on the strike and tree on the first coon and the second he had first strike but we don't know who treed first because we drove to the top of the hill but Dragon is a one bark locate type treedog at this point.
