UKC

Hunted BB last night at Reform in a UKC hunt and my son Drake hunted Dolly for me. I won my cast with 550+ on three coons and got a first place win. Had first and first on two coons. Drake did well with Dolly. He had 300+ going into last turnout. Had dog trouble and Dolly left tree. Gone stay after them. Darren.

HUNT

Got two females with their first place win now. Looks like I will be hitting the hunts for the next few weeks. Got a first on BB Saturday night at Reform in her first hunt with 550 plus and 0 minus. As soon as Cottons papers get here I will be hunting her in some hunts as well. I am lucky that I have 3 quality females here that can tree their own coon alone. Cotton is 20mths old, BB just turned 4 and had never been in a hunt until Saturday night, and Dolly is 3yrs old. BB and Dolly have their first place wins in UKC. Gone have to put some handling responsibility on Drake. HE done good Saturday night at the hunt in Reform. Had 300 plus going into last turn out but Dolly left tree. Got a little rough I think!! Gone hit it again this weekend. There is a UKC hunt in Cullman and I guess the ole Nissan will be rolling that way!! Keep'em Lookin Up!! Darren

Yea he did good Jason. He's got most of the rules figured out. I was glad to get that first. Ole BB really did a good job. She got in the zone and had coons on her mind. She has the potential to be a really nice hound with some more hard hunting I think she will be hard to beat. Darren.

Hunt

Thanks Matt. You get my message last night? LOL Just giving you the fever man! Be glad when you get back to hunting. I've had my nose to the grindstone and putting the hunting on these females. There have been times that I wondered if it was paying off but I can see my hard hunting paying off now in the way these gyp are performing in the woods. Hunted last night. First turnout I cut BB and Rickett loose. Rickett struck quick and BB followed. Didnt take long til I heard them treed in the ground. I lit BB up with the tritronics and she soon was about 300 yds down the creek struck on a coon. Rickett made his way to her and soon I heard that dying bawl locate with Rickett following. Big bushy tree with vines everywhere but coon soon spotted. Turned Cotton alone around beaver pond, she didnt hunt as well as usual so I leashed her up and walked her a little ways and recut. She left hard and soon struck a track in the hills. She worked the track towards the pond and back up in the hills and treed. Got there, Den tree. Cut her again and she went around side of hill and just fell treed. Blowed top out. Treed up small tree that ran into big pine. Coon in pine tree. Called it a night , going tonight!! HUNTING

Went for a couple turnouts last night. Matt Smith went with his Dixie gyp outa NtChGrChPR Drips So Blue Duece. I took Cotton and BB. Turned out in a big bottom and BB got struck quick followed by Cotton and Dixie. They ran the hair off that coon in all the beaver ponds. They took him aobut 800yds in the bottom and I heard Cotton " LOAD UP " on the wood followed by BB and Dixie. We waded alot of water on the way to the tree. Got there and finally found the meat hangin!! Petted them up good and moved to a different spot. Turned them loose in another bottom. BB and Dixie struck qiuck and Cotton struck seperately on in bottom. They eventually got together down in the bottom and started working a bad track. Carried it to a big slew and things slowed WAY down! They kept working him and after working him around the swamp for awhile BB finally committed and locked down.Dixie and Cotton backed her and we waded the grass and water to the tree. After only a few minutes of shining time we spotted the coon laid up there sleeping. Finally woke him up and got him to look at us for a few seconds. Petted dogs and called it a night. Got a play to go to tonight with my little girl but be after em again tomorrow night, Keep'em Lookin Up!! Darren

I just want you to know how glad I am that you wound up with
Cotton. I love to see a young dog with potential get hunted and
handled the right way. My hat is off to you for what you have done with her. Too many birthdays, the hours it takes to keep
a thriving business on track and the lack of GOOD hunting spots during Deer & Turkey season has really slowed my hunting time down
but I love to hear a young dog LOAD UP with the meat. After
Turkey season I might want to spectate on a cast with you and
Cotton. Is the BB female the one Terry had? If it is she has always been a TREE DOG. I am so glad to see Drake involved with the dogs and the hunts. Ya'll are making lots of fond
memories. GOOD LUCK with all your dogs. I you ever want to go to any of the BIG BLUE Dog hunts just let me know. You are welcome to go with me.

Rick I appreciate it. Cotton has the tools to be really nice. I have been proud and pleased with how she progressed. The alone time has helped her tremendously. She has that big screaming mouth and is a hard clean tree dog. She will chop some on running coon but guess we can't have it all. The BB gyp is the one Terry had. We are partners on her. She has never been pushed or hunted really hard for a duration of time. I seen her do real good work. With hard huntin and correction I think she will be nice I will definately give you a call on going to some larger hunts. Darren.

Terry Tibbs

I just wanted to say a few words about my good friend Terry Tibbs from Steele, Al. Terry is not only a big time bluetick man but is a good man to boot. I have known Terry for several years now and he will always treat you right. He doesn't hit many hunts, but wants to improve blueticks everyday. He has some nice hounds for sure and does a great job of starting pups. Just wanted to post the good things about a good man. Keepem lookin up!!! Darren

Darren you are right about Terry. Terry is as Good of man you will
ever find and is a good dog man to boot. He is Brutally Honest and that trait is hard to come by in today's Society. Don't ask him what he thinks about your dog unless you are prepared to possibly get your feelings hurt.

hunt last night

Hunted for a while last night in the wind and sputtering rain. Turned Cotton and BB loose in bottom. BB struck in at about 75yds , followed by Cotton. They took the track about 400yds in the bottom and BB loaded up followed by Cotton. They hammered tree pretty good and we got in there it was a huge Den tree. Moved down bottom and turned out again. Cotton struck in about 100yds followed by BB. They trailed about 475yds in bottom and Cotton loaded up on tree and HAMMERED it. BB didn't tree with her and continued to trail. We got to Cotton and she was telling the news on another big hollow den tree. While we were looking for the coon on the outside, I heard BB load up about 175 yds deeper in bottom. I left Cotton treed and went to check BB's tree. Dang if she wasn't on a big Den as well. Coons were hitting the dens last night i guess because of the bad weather moving in our area. Im headed to Cullman tonite to hunt in a UKC hunt. We will see what happens. Good Luck to all bluetickers in the hunts this weekend, and Keep'em Lookin UP!! Darren

Weather

Jason that wind was blowin hard and we had hard time hearing dogs so we had to do quite a bit of walkin to stay in hearing. Appreciate the good luck man. I need it. Lol. Darren

Ukc hunt

Well just put ole BB in the pen. Hunted at Cullman ,Al in a ukc hunt. Won second place. BB had first strike and split with a coon to win the cast. Now she has a first and a second place win. One cast win to ntch her. Gone stay after her. She treed in ground and left but got me minused so we will continue to work on that issue. All in all she did good and I'm proud of her. Keep'em lookin up! Darren
