Going to try again tonite I got a couple honey holes where going to try out if we dont get anything will have to head your way to hunt lol

Well that didnt take long on the fist drop we didnt get a bark so we went in and found a den that we could see in and shure enough there was dead coon and he was big, loaded up and went home. I shure would like to no whats going on any ideas on this, would a call to the dnr help maybe its been reported. I will not hunt around here till I find out whats going on. Have fun and keep lookin up

im in northeast ohio, an talked to a local trapper today that lives in minerva,columbiana county, and he traps coons by the hundreds year after year. He says no luck this year and that he is finding dead coons all over his lines. He says its distemper and has wiped out alot of coons in the areas he traps. Hell cant even get him to tag along for a hunt he says there are no coons to tree!

i have been treeing coons but it has been tough it seems, more dens,slicks an holes than im used to seeing. dogs are hitting mostly cold tracks and treeing lay-ups i hate a dog to hole one but most all the holes have had a coon on the other end, keep pulling the dogs out bloodied up and sending on to hit just another lay-up or den tree.

The week it was cooler, crystal clear and no wind to speak of 2 weeks back I had a hard time finding tracks. But ever since that week have had really nice hunts. The rain washed me out tonight. Rained here all day and it still misting out. Hopefully tomorrow night it will be over with. At the end of December we had treed right at 100 and so far I've treed 75.

Any of you guys want to head my way for a hunt some night let me know.

last night

treed 3 singles and 3 dens and ad to wade across mt blanchard river on first drop dogs split treed 1 had coon on outside other dog was on den ...lol so got my butt wet first drop......came in by midnight.....will go again tonight ..but stayin away from river....

Got a break from the rain , so me and my old man went out with our 10 yr old and Herb Mason's Roxy 10month old out of Rambler. Both of them slammed treed on a big den, the 10 month old was choppin em off. Recut and they went about 350 yards split treed both with coon. The little 10 month old female really did a nice job tonite.

i talk to the O.D.N.R. they have recived call about the dramatic drop in the coon population in nw ohio.. they are going to start looking into it.. it is their belief that west nile came threw our area...
