Good night of hunting the blues

First Drop Magic struck an old bad track and both dogs hit tree with the meat.

Next track Maggie struck first then went left and bang she said some get him. Magic backed her. Meat in the tree. I went home.
So far all dogs are looking good in getting coons treed. I hope to have them all ready for Fall Round Up. Not sure if I'm bringing one or two dogs this year.

getting dark a little earlier doesn't hurt.

Fall is a great time to hunt and train.

Got in the brush tonight

Chris has his Walker Speed and I just had Maggie. First drop dogs went down the creek and Maggie came back. Speed made 3 barks and 250 yards and shut up. A car was coming so we called Speed in and he was proud to come in packing a grinner. Chris was not happy.

Second drop dogs got deep Speed struck in at 700 yards and seem to be working a good track. When Maggie opened she was at .3 miles away and had a good track going. Speed treed at 990 and Maggie was pushing her track good. Speed left his tree to join Maggie then bang she located and treed and Speed backed her. We drop back in a lane and was still 800 yards from them treed. We got there and they had the meat. Chris wanted to call it a night.

Made one drop tonight with Maggie and Sounder

Dogs struck in at 900 yards and ran that coon all over the place and finally got him treed on the outside. I just petted them both up and came home.

I'm sure Steve and I will come up with the right female for this seman. I know he is going to breed his Broadaxe max son to the same gyp we breed Timber to and she is out of Clyde and Dual Grand Chors Molly.

My Lumber pup off her and Timber looks great and good acting. He will be 3 months old Oct 3rd so I can't wait for him to grow up to see what I have. I will put him in the wood during coon season. He will be 5 months old and he will get to make the trip to learn something all season long.

Nice wet weather

Hope we continue to get a slow rain and I hope Flora has gotten a good rain so this year there will be some coon treeing going on instead of being so dry.

Well turned loose tonight

Hunted with Earl Howell with Boomer and his Walker dog and also Terry Estill with Spud and I had Maggie.

First drop dogs smelled on right off the bat. They went to a junk pile and Maggie drove a track right on past and I was smiling and said look out boys she getting ready to spank that butt. Well I spoke to soon she hit a tree and came back in because the others were trying to tree and I knew she probably had a coon. Needless to say the dogs didn't stick they end up treed about 400 yard down and we didn't find a coon there. We turned them loose in the same woods and they just fell treed all four blowing the top out. I guess the treed so hard the coon disappeared in the dark. Slick tree.
We drove to another spot Boomer first strike Maggie second the Spud and the Walker they ran a coon in a whole in the pond bank. We called it a night.
Maggie is limping so her foot is swollen so no hunting for her till the foot goes down.

Sitting her thinking

That Boomer dog of Earl Howell's just turned 3 a month ago and he is going to be really hard to handle in the hunts. Quick on strike and a tree picken fool. Last night wasn't our best night by no means but that hound will be at the Fall Round Up and he is going to be hard to handle if those coons are laid up. He reminds me the the Hoss dog that Earl and I were partners on but he is more open on track and a much better mouth. Sounds like the old style Uchtman dogs and and huge locate and very nice treedog. Good looking light blue hound and not a mean hair on him anywhere.
He is out of a full brother to Hoss and a female off Clyde x Mock Jammin Jaden

Maggie's foot is looking much better

I will leave her up till next Thursday. I dd receive the Champion Show degree today so she is a part of the Breathless Blue Team so far anyway.
I will have Lumber next week after the Fall Round UP.

I will hunt Magic tonight. I will give Maggie two more nights of rest on that foot. Might bring two dogs to the Fall Round Up just not sure which ones yet. Both Magic and Sounder are looking pretty good. Sounder is still fat but he gives me 100% everytime I turn him loose.

Made two drops with Tim Wilbers Gr Nite Boomer Walker and Sounder we made two strikes two trees two coons. Both dogs looked good now Sounder will get to make the trip to Flora with Maggie. See you guys Thursday - Saturday

Great Time but didn't do any good!

Maggie gave a good effort but made a couple of costly mistake. I will fix a few things she can do better and then she will be tough to beat.
Glad to have met all you great bluetickers at the hunt.
