Barley comes by his looks and desire honestly, he comes from a long line of good looking hard hunting hounds, that have been used successfully on coon, cat, bear and still have the looks to win in the shows...........Tim

Hunting

This week has been a hot one. Last few nights Timmy and I have been taking turns hunting Robin. Tracking has not been the best before midnight but the coon seem to move after that. Robin has been doing good even on the bad tracks but could improve alot by drifting on out and get a running track. Treeing a lot of den trees before midnight but after 11:30 or so we see coon in 90% of her trees. I think that for a 20 month old pup she is doing great.
Trying to keep her tuned for the hunt this weekend at Girard Ks. Hope to at least place 4th or better to finish her to Nite Champion. Next week is the Zone 1 hunt at Marshall Mo. We will be there also.

Girard hunt

Timmy said every thing went bad. A storm moved through in the middle of the hunt and the hunting went down hill after that.
Timmy made a couple of bad calls and cost him the cast win. He said that Robin still looked good though.
I will be hunting her tonight and hope to do a little better. Still chaseing a 4th or better.

Bombed out again

Had first strike and second tree on the first coon.Robin was trying. Had a couple of dogs that left the country and Robin treed behind them but couldn't find her coon. Then she was leash locked for an hour of hunting time. Had last strike and third tree on another and the coon jumped out while we were shining. Robin got in deep by herself and treed after the hunt time ran out.

Sounds like you didn't have a very good hunt. My question is how could you be leash locked for an hour with the new rule in UKC? If the dogs were gone that far, time out should have been called to save your hunting time to get cast back together. Just curious!! Take care, Ron.

Your right Ron. They should've called time out. But Dad and the other guy leash locked were not aware of that rule. If the other 2 guys with the dogs way in there knew they didn't say anything. Just goes to show u that a guy needs to refresh by reading the rule book and advisor more than one thinks. Little things like that can change the out come of the hunt big time. Thanks for the question.

P.S. If Saddie ever needs a boyfriend let me know. Pups out of her and Smoke would be some independent stay put tree dogs.

Marshall Zone 1

We are comming just don't what we will be hunting besides Robin yet. Toss up between Smoke and Lou. we will see how they are hunting this week. Would like to put Lou back in the hunts but she is still out of shape. We'll see.

Last night

hunted Robin and Pearl on the first dump. They put one in a barn. Next dump they treed in the mulberrys and then Pearl decided to get deep by herself. Pearl ended up working a bad track and was getting close to a blacktop road so we caught her. Next dump hunted Lou but she made a couple of circles and never got anything going.
Seen a lot out of Pearl that I like, she will get deep and shows a lot of independance and is a TREE dog.
Robin winded one out of the back of the truck and we watched it swim a pit onto Federal ground so we let it go and went home.
Hunting late like this and getting up for work at 6:00 is tuff on an old man like me but I still love it!!

Hunt

Have you got them tuned up for this weekend? It's pretty ironic that there will be 2 "Turk" females at this hunt that have 1st and 2nd and 1 with 1st and 4th, they will probably draw out together.........Tim

No doubt at least two of them will draw out together.
Robin has looked good in the timber by herself and with company.
With the kitten coon moving good, there should be some good scores this weekend. Hope Robin is one of them.

Dogs are lookin good

The boys hunted all night last night so the edge should be worn off. Hunted Smoke, Robin and Pearl. They are ready as they will be for the Zone 1 hunt.
Water must have been deep because I noticed Timmy's boots hanging upside down this morning.
Hope to make a good showing at Marshall this weekend, Robin is steady as a rock. Some nights she looks wicked but for the most part she makes no mistakes.

It doesn't take much talking to get Matt Merrill signed up to go. I believe the way Smoke performed in Iowa hooked him.

Here's a pic of Pearl last night she is a nice coon dog. Quick strike dog with bawl on track, bawl locate and chop on tree. Hard huntin female. Might put her in some hunts when we get her back in shape and tunned up a little. Her pups out of Smoke are due Aug 2. Should be really good ones. All the dogs looked good last night made several dumps and looked at several coon. Coon moved good early and again late and fair in between. Excited to get to marshall

Hunt

Roy, Timmy and Danny took home the Hardware at the BBOA ZONE I Hunt, Marshall Mo. Smoke won GR NT on Sat Night and Overall High Scoring Bluetick Male and Robin won 1st on Friday night and overall opposite sex winner. The other hunters KNEW that they were there!!!!!!! I will let Roy and Timmy tell you all about it. Congrats Guys.........Tim

Timmy and I had a super weekend. Friday night Robin finished to night champion with another 1st place win. We have hunted her in 10 hunts and she finished with two 1st and a 2nd.
Saturday night I hunted her in the night champion cast and tied for the cast win with Danny (hunting Penny) but he won the tie breaker.
Timmy showed Ranger for Tim and won Best Male of Show and finished Ranger to Dual Champion.
Timmy also hunted Dual Grand Smoke and not only won the Grand night hunt but was the over all high scoreing dog of the weekend. The great part was that Smoke and Robin both were the high scoring winners.

on your guys' wins. Sounds like you guys had a great weekend! Tell Timmy thanks for getting the bench win on Ranger. Wish I could of made it up and visited with everyone, but was out of town.
