The health hazards "they" choose to select to outlaw is what has me confused? To back it up with thinly disguised morally righteous arrogance probably doesn't help matters either.

If there will be no concessions made for smokers, such as a smoking area. I would recomend that all tobacco users boycott the event.

Thats it punish UKC and the Sport we all love when neither had anything to do with the rule. Wow are we still in grade school. Some of you need to think about what your saying.I don't care if you smoke or not but it wasn't yours or my decision to make. I have never heard of banning someone from smoking outside but you never know what your gonna hear any more.lol You want to boycott someone do it who ever is the cause, do it to the town don't spend a dime while you are in their town and let people know about it.Call the local paper and see if you can get a article in their paper. UKC probably didn't think much about the new rule or they would have moved the event or they didn't have anywhere to move it or anyone offering to hold this event. UKC should have let hunters know alittle sooner if they have known for awhile about the rule ,some people plan their vacations on this hunt. How long has Oaks been at this location? You don't have to support the town but you should still support the sport.

I still don't have a problem with someone smoking outside. What would be wrong with having a smoking area? THis could be easily fixed.

Who would have ever thought we'd see the day when smoking outside would be banned ?

I don't smoke except for an occasional cigar ... but I'll be danged if I can see why they'd ban smoking in the same barn that we stand in along with cow manure and chicken feathers ...

O.K., by now everyone has had a chance to voice their opinion on this topic. I'll fill you in on what we know and then we'll move on. The first any of us at UKC knew anything about this was when we traveled to Richmond a few weeks ago to plan out the changes we wanted to make in regards to switching the headquarters over from the Kuhlman Center to the Raper Building. We've been talking about this for a couple years now. It's going to be 10 times nicer. Trust me.

When we arrived was the first we saw the signs that said "smoke free campus". We were as surprised as you all are. I think personally, many of us share some of your opinions on whether or not that policy makes sense. In talking with the fairgrounds staff, I think they also share some of your (our) opinions on whether this makes sense. I'm not clear on who's decision it was. I'm not even sure it's a city of Richmond issue.

I did not get the impression that it would be strictly enforced. I did get the impression that if they see anyone smoking in buidlings they will remind people that it's a smoke free campus. I also got the impression that if they see people smoking right outside the doors of a building they will get the same reminder. I also got the impression that's as far as it will go. Again, that's the impression I got. I'm not giving you permission to smoke, only passing on my understanding.

Come to Autumn Oaks. Use good judgement. Enjoy yourself. It's going to be the best Autumn Oaks in the last 50 years. Guaranteed.
