HELLO Mr. Wick First off thank you for the info and enjoyment from your books.I was wondering if you have any records of preachers offspring from the other owners of him before you .I called ukc to find out how many pups are reg. that he sired and there descendents,but there offspring reports only go back to dogs born after june 1979.

Ive have a Friend, from Buna Texas, that has some hounds, that he has raised, out of His Nite Champion Bitch, and John Wicks, Stylish Banjo.
Im Very impressed with all of them, So Impressed, that its causing me to conciter, getting some of that.
Good Solid hounds.

There's a Female in Ms that's colored like the pics of these dogs. She goes back to the old High Style dog, Corbin's Banjo 2. I hunted with her Sat nite. Looks like a B & t with white feet, blaze in her face.

Rod B - I started the Iowa Preacher dog that John Horner now owns. This pup was naturally straight and is a very intense tree dog. Buckeye throws very nice pups that start early and go the right way. I would expect Iowa Preacher to throw the same. Before John bought him I believe he was bred 1 time and sired around 12 pups all marked exactly like him and from what I was told they started early and made coon dogs. Iowa Preacher can run a track and tree a coon or just fall treed and have a coon. I dont have a clue what John Horners plans are with him but I have kicked myself for selling the dog many times over.

I happen to remember breeding a female off Nailor and a gyp out of High Style to my old Diehard Lipper dog a few years ago. It was a real good cross. That litter would have about as much of the old High Style blood as somebody could currently find. The guy that raised and trained High Style came up from MS and bought a couple of pups from the guy that owned the gyp. I think his name was Buddy Martin. If a person could locate one of these dogs it might be worthy of consideration for your breeding program. Another male from this litter went to TN and did more than his share of winning. I think this litter would be around 6 years old now.
Don't overlook Jerry DeBoard's dogs in Mt. Vernon, Ky. Quality hounds that also have the blood and color your looking for.

Thanks, for the info. I have found some dogs that have a lot of what we are looking for. I will do some digging into the cross you mentioned. I am going into a phase of select breeding for the old Preacher traits as I remember them for the next couple of years. I will be reaching out to others who are of like mind along the way. I am totally convinced that the same characteristics that impacted the Walker dogs so profoundly before through old Preacher can be gathered up and intesified in a line of dogs again. I intend to spend a lot of time and effort to make it happen in the next few years.

Preacher Dogs

I just had a litter of pups born out of a preacher colored dog that has many of the characteristics that I remember in the old line preacher dogs. Lay up deluxe, hunt the territory and not beeline, fast, smart and have good mouth.
