How did Big Country get all that hunt in him if all the Blueticks are boodling cold trailers that do good to hunt out of your light at a slow trot?

Did it just magically appear?

Richie, has there been any research on his litter mates, was that a cross that more than one pup showed the same hunting ability or is he freak of nature sort of speak, and was that cross made more than once.......Gerald

Robert Shelton could answer all your questions. He bred him.

He has nice littermates. Some of the hardest hunting dogs I have personally witnessed are in his pedigree, top side and bottom.

He traces back to 4 of the 5 dogs that Voyd mentioned in his post.

Best of luck to all of you in finding something that you like to hunt.

Bocephus x oxy

Robert Shelton made the cross and there is several dogs from the cross that are pure coondogs. I have hunted with all of them but big country and personally own 2 of them. Face , lottie , curly, country are all grands and have alot of money won. There was another nitech that fell out of a tree and died and another nitech Male here in nebraska. I guarantee crosses like this don't come along often. I have a big country pup myself that is out of rage.

Of course he’s a freak. He doesn’t operate like 99% of blue dogs operate heck he operates at a different level than 90% of dogs of any color. He’s the Blue Unicorn y’all are looking for. A freak of nature wrapped in a blue hide. The fact that they just had a litter of pups off of him and arguably the best female breathing air Half Time Ruby who is pushing the $100,000 dollar mark in earnings should be enough to let you guys know that he is worth breeding to. Idk anyone that would breed a female of that caliber to anything other than the best. If he reproduces half as good as what he is he’ll better the blue breed. Y’alls problem is your to dang hung up on this stuff from 50 years ago. I don’t know if he goes back to Ol Sounder #75 half a dozen times but I do know he’s the best shot y’all have a a world champion.

Agreed.....And our pup is coming out of this exact cross you mentioned Dalton. Ruby is the best crossbred female in the country currently. She has won 113k to date. And Wes plans to keep hunting her in some bigger hunts. Both Big Country and Ruby are top of the line.

The other blue dog that I give a bunch of credit to is Herron's Ace out of NC. He's old now, but I believe they did get him collected. And there's the Blue Ghost dog that Beatty has or had. But according to the sources I found Ghost was a crossbred dog out of Finley River Sting. He got to the finals of the truck hunt in 2016, and Parsley beat him at the end of the hunt for the win with Jake.

I once read someones post asking if conformation was important among the Bluetick community, I misread it as CONFRONTATION, i answered yes very much.

I agree, been looking for a blue dog that can take getting chewed on and just back up and stay hooked.

Johnson's blue echo norm will just back up but will stay treed. Never seen him fight but ya knew when there was a ruff dog in there.
