IMO, there are things going on that the registries can't fix by tweaking programs or changing rules. I remember a time when you could go to almost any local club on a Saturday night and they could put 10 to 15 casts in the woods with club member guides and still have extras they didn't use. They would have the kitchen rolling for dinner and breakfast and even the losers came back to the clubs to eat breakfast, shoot the breeze, and talk about their cast. Many of those clubs are now closed, others have a hunt and not one club member shows up to guide. Those old hunters are gone, those old woods have been sold, clear cut, or developed. If a performance point was worth $200, UKC would be lucky to see any increase in participation. They should just leave things alone, they aren't broken, they are just fading away.

Hate to say it but that's the sad truth.

That would drop numbers just like I said one or the other would get butt hurt about getting beat by the other. Have something on the local level just for the grntchs like a little separate money hunt something only grntch can hunt in ukc could still get a fee on the same night as the regular hunt. Two things would happen grntch would have something to hunt in the reg and ntchs would be pushing to get finished to grntch so they could hunt in them let the top 50 grntch have a grand finals hunt some where with the escrow off of the hunts that year like a race give it a big fancy name any of the big clubs up north can put 50 dogs in the woods I can do that here and we got the worlds biggest casino and golf course 10 moles from here y'all got to get that ............ You can do it attitude !!

I don't know if this would work or not but ukc rules must have plus points to win if a dead cast roll the money over to the next one make the pot twice as big get people traveling. Only get performance points when you have a cast winner. That would be some serious $$$ for the hunters and ukc.

Tarbaby, don't they already have the Super Slam/Grand Masters Program? How much money will they hunt for this year? And don't they also have a big Grand National Championship Hunt at Autumn Oaks in 6 weeks just for Gr Nt's?
And for those that keep complaining about "no changes", didn't Mr Gingerich make several changes to the Grand National Hunt a few years back? How did that work out? And didn't Mr Gingerich start the Grand Masters/Super Slam Program and then "tweak" it every year? Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves for saying/thinking that UKC doesn't respond to the coonhunters ideas. Just look at the newly revamped registration dept. How long does it take to get papers back now? Some of y'all remind me of my first wife. Nothing I ever did pleased her. As soon as she got something, she saw something else that she wanted.

If you guys think the GrNt dogs are coming back and will save coon hunting, it’s never gonna happened, now if you can come up with a program that will keep the dogs that hunt Reg an NtCh coming back after there Gn they will keep coming!
