We will likely be meeting with the Presidents of the Chartered Breed Associations on this topic at Autumn Oaks so if you have strong feelings one way or the other you have all summer to discuss them amongst your breed associations. Just an FYI......

there has been over 8000 viewers but only a little over 200 people vote. Please, more people vote so we can get a better view on what coonhound breeders want.

Does anyone really think the breed associations will go along with letting a crossbred compete against there pure breeds?

Can we get the names and numbers or email for the breed associations?

Why shouldn't they? It ain't like we're askin' for a X-bred breedin' program, just wantin' to compete, may get the best of both worlds.

I remember when I was a kid back in the 60,s going to hunts with my dad.back then the hunts had 50 to 100 dogs a night and there were more grade dogs than registered dogs at these hunts.it was guys goal to save there money and buy a registered dog or pup and the grade dogs and grade hunts faded away.after 50 plus years of of guys getting away from the grade dogs now people want to start cross breeding and getting grade dogs but want to register them as a breed.is this saying that all these years of breeding registered dogs and trying to better our breeds that we haven't so we need to go back to grade dogs.dont make sense to me.ill stick with my PR dogs.

Mr. Harroun, that would be the great thing about having a Cross-Bred Breed. You could stick with your PR dogs if you desire and those of us who want Cross-Breds could also have our own Breed. In my opinion, what better way to keep the Pure Breds pure. I'm sure not asking anyone to hunt or own Cross-Breds. It just gives the ones that do a choice.

The question is would you have a problem hunting (competition hunt) your PR dog against a crossbred (grade) dog?

The best I've ever lead out of the woods was a walker/bluetick cross. I had a guy offer me $1500 for him one night and I said "I will bury him before I sell him." and I did 2 weeks later. Now I just say not for sale.
