Hunted for the last time till season last night

I had Dragon my other buddy had a pup and my other buddy had his old dog. First turn the pups went a little but came back. The old dog just treed. The pups hit it a little but not much. We spotted good dark fur in a big oak. Well after a closer birds eye look it was a huge possum.
We sent the old dog on and he got gone so we just walked the pups and they hunted but couldn't find much between hunting and playing.
We gathered the old up about 900 yards treed on a den and took the pups for a little walk around corn field alone. Dragon checked a few trees and opened once or twice. I spotted a coon across the pond so we made our way around and when he smelled the tree and a little encourgement from be Dragon blew up on the tree. Being that he didn't really do the work right that on lived till season.
One week away he will have coons falling on him and be a totally different dog. I'm just trying to get him use to hunting with all dogs.
So far so good. I like him. Heck we may have some snow and crazy wind the first night of season. Might be a tough night to be in the woods

Two days till season

It's going to be cold in the 20's and teens at night. We may have two inches of snow Saturday and if that is the case I will stay home watch football. These next two weeks could be way to cold for Mr Overton. Dogs are ready. Dragon will have to get use to a shotgun so we shall see. Did you do any shooting around the pups when they were young?

I haven't talked to anyone in a few weeks to see how their pups are doing. Mine is doing great other than she is sitting in the kennel... Lol. Newborn baby is eating up all my extra time as it should... Lol..

28 -21 It should be a good one and I will be glued to the tv. Tenn. is going to hard on us. We have a lot to play for. Hope our offense shows up.

It should be a good one. Our QB is still needs to prove himself. I really don't know what will happen. We have so many off the field issues going on right now that will affect the defense. Our best two players are out of the game. Luckily one is just for a half. So who knows what will happened. I may go haven't made up my mind yet..

Dragon and Maggie had a great night of hunting. We treed a double and two singles.
He ran and treed hard on every coon.
First track they struck in about 300 yard and pushed a good running track and bang treed and treed hard. I got there Dragon had both feet on the wood telling the story and Maggie treed right below him. I looked up and they had a double. It took me a few shoots but I got one to drop out nice and alive. Dragon just dove in and never let go. Maggie had him by the throat. Finally my buddy got there after going to his cur that left her tree. I hung the coon up so we could get the other down while Dragon was treeing so he would get use to the gun shots. He never moved when the coon hit the ground he didn't even know it. He was focused.
Next drop Dragon struck first in at 250 yards. Maggie opened with him they worked hard and the frost was thick on the ground. They move the track out then got quiet. Bang both blew up treed with a nice dark one. The cur was out running around not sure what.
Next drop Dogs all worked a short track and treed with another coon. We called it a night.
This Dragon pup won't be 8 months old till the 8th of December. I'm impressed with him so far.

Matt you have the picture I sent you last night

Took my 7 month old pup alone again last night about 8 pm.
First track he struck in wetland and come tree about 400 yard. Dragon had a thick tree beside a creek but no coon seen. I sent him on. Down the creek about 100 yards he struck and work a track through thickets and wetlands and Hank Taber called while he was working and I said he isn't going to get this coon treed. Well after I hung up with Hank I was right he didn't tree it he caught a real nice sized sow on the ground in the water and the fight was on. I did give him some help killing this one.
I later hunted with Jeff Wyatt after midnight and we ran a coon through some rough cutovers and thickets and ended the track in a pond. I was worn out so we called it at night.

Dragon won't be 8 months old till the 8th of December. I like him and I'm impressed with his learning ability. He looks to get treed!

Nice looking dark pups

My kennels are full or who knows what I would purchase. Dragon is doing good for almost 8 months old. He has fought a caught 6 coons in the water and he goes under water to grab them. Right now his hickup is when he working a track at the water he thinks the coon is in there somewhere so he spends more time looking in water. That will come with time to move the track on. So far no trash at all but it's early. When he gets the hunt part down in going in a long ways and strikes and trees he will be ready to showcase a little. He is green but will tree coons alone or in company. Fast track and accurate tree dog. He is quiet in the kennel at home unless the squirrel mess with him but normally he just sleeps. Time will tell but he has a good start. I'm sure he will get the go hunting part figured out in time and the water thing I will work on with him. He has talent not a mean hair on him. Still plenty play in him. I LIKE HIM!!!!!! I believe he will add to the BREATHLESS BLUE KENNELS what I have been looking for. TIME WILL TELL.

Cotton pups

Matt, thanks for letting us have the cotton pup. If she's anything like her littermates I know we will be more than pleased. Keep us in mind for 1 of the pups from Rukus and Cotton they looked great. We sent a pic to my brother-in-law and he and my son are considering 1 on halves. Maybe this will convince him to sell the walker. At any rate she is settling in good and we plan on taking her to the woods this weekend. Thanks again and I'll send you info on the collars later. Kenneth Jones

1.5 miles to get treed with Maggie. Den tree. I turned Dragon loose alone he made three dens alone and had one on the outside and soon as I got up to the tree it ran down the limb into its hole.

Cut chief loose tonite he worked a track back and forth and ended up treed on the edge of a field with the meat looked really good on it absolutely satisfied with my Ruger x Cotton pup!! He surprise me every time out just seeing him pick up and figure out new things all the time chief is absolutely a joy to hunt and work with he's 8 months loads, leads, and hunts like a 2 year old he's still working on perfecting it but that will come with time.
