Jack can be very very independent...but he can pack well too. It all depends on the mood he is in, but I can tell you if he doesn't like a track or what others are running.....he will split off and be flat gone from it.

And as for the hide....oh boy do I have the one for you! =D He's here in the freezer.

24-26 FEB 2012

Jonathan Christmas, John Baily, his son Ryan, Dave Stringer , me (Kent Wiley), and Larry Stringer ..........now that is one ugly group of guys with some great lookin hounds. =)

We had a great time down at Larry's place this weekend, good friends, good food, and good hunting.

Friday night it was just Jon Christmas, Me and the Stringer brothers that cut loose. On the first drop we cut loose Jenny, Jim, Jack and Ryder. They went huntin' straight off the chain and only went about 250yards and treed. The pups had the meat! That coon wouldn't stop lookin down. David's Ryder pup did a bang up job, it was the first coon that had ever been dropped on his head. The older Jabo crew (Jenny and Jack) did a fine job of getting the job done so the young ones could get a piece of meat in their mouths.

After that we cut loose again and didn't have any luck. So we wend and switched young pups. The second go round it was JoAnn, and Highway. They struck in and bobbled the 1st track. The second drop they didn't strike in at all....it was rather late at that point. lol

On Saturday, John Baily brought Rex and his Jabo pup Bones down and we cut them a loose. The first drop was the same as the first night and they split....Ryder and Jenny went one way, Jack and Jim went across the road the other way.

Jack did me proud of grubbing a bad track out and ended up treed at den tree deluxe. Jim was with him every step of the way, as a matter of fact...Jim re-found it for Jack once in a bad thicket.

Jenny and Ryder were nearly a mile from where we cut loose and grubbed up a bad cold track as well. The pups did a bang up job.

Now the second drop we switched young dogs and let Rex go in the place of Jack. JoAnn and Bones took to the hills with the old dogs and ended up splitting off from them. We ended up having to go in and collect them but they were hung up in a track....so for 8month old pups I'll take it. =)

Rex and Jenny grubbed a flat horrible track to run. Rex ended up treed in a bad spot.

That wrapped up the huntin for this weekend. I'll post pictures below.

this is jabo II , litter mate to larry's jelly pup, these pups are out of jabo on one side and their grandfather is hicks rusty on the other side. this pup is what i would call a fallback to jabo. he was the only pup in the litter that took nearly every virtue it seems after his dad.

Thats great

I love doing mounts for the young ones. I love seeing the expressions on their faces. My nephew who is 6 called me up and asked if i could mount a mouse that he had shot with his bb gun .lol I told him yes but his dad threw it away. He thought I was joking. So he went fishing and caught a 18 inch northen pike for me to mount.lol I think everything he gets to harvest will be coming over here. lol Good job on Jack. He looks real good. Your son looks like he cant be happier and you must be very proud of that young man. Take care

27 Feb 2012

Well it was a good night. Jack got in there, struck in only three times and fell treed. He was treed in the nastiest bunch of thorns you ever want to be in. The tree was a big ole pin oak that had a limb that was hollow.....so....I didn't get to see it. But I did get some good pics and some good video of it.

On this video when he looks down at the ground there, a stick fell out of the tree and he looked at it for just a second there....lol but then again so did I.

I'd like to thank Larry Stringer yet again for this pup. I've really enjoyed myself with him, and Lord willing I'll do it for many years to come. I've been very satisfied with Jacks progress this kill season.

And as always the Stringer's have about the best hospitality going, and for that I thank all of you.

Kent

Kent and Hillbilly Jack

Kent, as we both know getting pups into the hands of people that will put the hunting on them, is the toughest thing to do. you have done Jack and yourself proud these last few months. not to mention introduceing Johnathan Christmas to a jabo pup and myself. another young man who has the fire. i belive his Jim pup will be gave the best possiable chance to make it. i owe you one for that. i've tried to remain objective about Jabo's offspring and with that i must say, so far so good. i had a chance to look at several pups this past weekend and i was very encouraged by what i saw. thanks again friend for takeing the time to ramble around with me and hunt this last season. i enjoyed your company and your dedacation to the sport imensely. LWS.

29 FEB 2012

Had a good night of hunting with Jon Christmas and Troy Dugger last night. We cut loose Jack, Jim, and JoAnn and they ran down the creek to about 0.60mile and the coon took them through a cut over. In the cut over he turned back the way they came and ended up in a creek bank. They did a good job of grubbin that track out. Jack was treed but it was hard to gear as he had his head stuck up the root structure of that tree coming out of the bank. There were some other dogs that ended up treeing with him on that tree that had wondered that way from another cast.

The second drop they rambled out good. They got struck in and ended up treeing in the awfullest place you can think of for a coondog. When I say everything touched everything....I mean it in the most literal sense....it was awful. They grubbed and grubbed and located several times. Finally Jack settled down on a tree that touched up to one that had a good nest in the fork of it. I wish I would have seen meat....but it is what it is.....it was a horrible place.

Jim and JoAnn did a bang up job. JoAnn handled like a dream and was interested in the tree....and Jim treed some and loaded all on his lonesome all night. All in all you couldn't ask for a better end to the kill season. Good friends, and good puppies

And as always here are the pics.

Well, you guys look as if your in good shape going forward. How about young Jim. an 8 mo old Jabo pup. Tell Johnathan there will be no charge for the training session that Jim was in on at the house. LOL. I know that Buddy ray of rowdy ridge kennel will be tickeled to see how well Jim is doing at 8 mo old. Keep pouring it to them. and i'll see ya'll down the line. LWS.

Again a special thank you to Larry and Kent, I greatly appreciate ya'll takin a chance on me.

Thanks Larry,

I believe that you'll have the same kind of luck with Jenny when you get her poked in there a couple of times. She is a flat gorgeous female, the kind of female that I hope to produce out of my own kennel some day.

Good luck at that show/hunt tonight.
