LIPPER'S Dr. Law...
I'm glad you are speaking for yourself... Everyone has their opinion, but in
My opinion, you are way off base. Doc's first litter due today from a Nailor X
Homer's Gomer , Chirpee female. We wll see what Doc can produce from a
Quality female. Dr. Law has all the tools and bred to reproduce. I think you have a little Mickey Mouse in your pedigree.

Only breed to proven reproducers?
Wait a minute , how does a dog become a proven reproducer ?
Somebody must have believed in all the great studs at one time, and gave them a chance long before they were proven !!!

Nothing wrong with breeding young , if you keep the pups yourself or give them to some hunters ...
... but when you do it and then hype them up or sell them ... your actions speak as to your true intentions and standards .... dang actions , always telling off on us ....
thank you
Mr. Hopkins thank you for putting so much time and energy into your dogs. You have every right to dang proud of them. I for one hunt a house bred female and am in love with her. Others may not like them thats there right. I am of the firm opinion that once you find the dog that suits you that is all that matters. It wouldnt matter if it was a 3 legged half blind dog if it suits you thats it. I was always raised that if you didnt have anything nice to say then dont say anything. So that bein said the ones that dont care for lipper can hunt what they want and brag on there own dogs and stop tryin to run everyone elses down just to make theres look better. And thanks again its peaple like you that makes this sport enjoyable for others.

one thing i cant understand about these lipper threads is why some people put so much time into trying to tare down what tom is so proud of.look at the classified ads & there are all kinds of breeding & sales practices that are sketchy, but everybody & there brother is not trying to tare them down.

I bred my female to him because i know what he has the potential to reproduce. He has already proved he can run a track and tree a coon and that he has a huge mouth. There is nothing wrong with breeding him early to find out if he is gonna throw some good lipper traits. I, and many others are very excited to see whats gonna happen. I feel like we are fixing the breed by putting the track back in our hounds. I for one am tired of empty trees and dogs not finishing out tracks! ONLY WAY TO PROVE HIM IS TO BREED HIM AND TRY THE PUPS!!! unless csnowgren has a crystal ball we can look to the future and see what it says.
And wildbil you are exactly right on your last sentence. They dont give a d**n about the breed anymore, its all about how much stud they can sell out of the so called stud dogs and how many pups they can sell.

Who said anything about being a proven producer? I mentioned that he hadn't matured out yet to be what he will ultimately be, from a performance or a health standpoint. Therefore the results of the breeding he came from is unproven. No different than any other yearling. Some of you guy's reading comprehension sucks.

lol, okay so as i said before he has already proven he can run and tree a coon... As for health issues alot of them dont show up until a dog is older for example enlarged heart. That is something that is reproduced but most signs dont show until a dog is 6 years or older so should we wait till doc is 7 years old?
Something your strain of dogs reproduce is at a young age they are very trashy, but yet u still breed them.

Now, first of all, curiosity is the only reason for this question. I don't even know if what I am going to ask is possible.
What are Lipper's reproduction numbers since he passed and only his frozen semen has been used?
I think it would be interesting to compare the numbers. Now, this isn't about the difference between the genetic quality of fresh semen and frozen semen. I do think there is a difference between a couple of hundred dollar investment and a greater monetary investment as is usually the case with frozen semen crosses.
By the way, I would never criticize any breeder for making a well thought out cross with specific goals. Lord knows there are too many crosses made based on much less such as what is the flavor of the month.

i have had 2 from cade and 2 from rankin stylish clint, both were from lipper semen and were LOUD track driving hard tree dogs, and able to work tracks others couldnt smell. At this time i own one from cade and one from clint, both females, and i only hunt them in a coon pen. Both of these females reproduce these same traits in there pups as well.

The amount of hunts a dog wins does not qualify it to be a good stud dog. The amount of hunts a dog is put in or wins does not change the dog, it only effects his reputation. Mojo would be the same dog today, in my opinion, if he had never been put in a hunt, he just wouldn't be as well known. So winning or losing hunts does not change a dogs nature or characterists or effect his or her reproducing ability
Sheep,
A reliable source posted once that the Lipper semen from the old Lipper (what your dog is out of) wasnt nearly as good as the young Lipper semen used in the litter of impact....Just say'n
