thats crazy

whats next no cussin, tobacco spitting our lying...............think i will just stay home and smoke,i know if i lived in richmond and paid local taxes that help keep this fair ground up i would pitch a fit..... .........just think how much money they are going to loose at events at this fair ground because of this not just from coonhunters....

this law is a joke ..... someone asked about drinking...they will never ban(alchol) drinkin the polititians wouldnt have anything to do when they get together.............

It's funny how all you non-smokers think you have a right to "clean" air. Your right to clean air is the same as my right to smoke! I smoke but don't in my house, around my kid, or wife cause they don't smoke, but a smoker has the SAME right to smoke as non-smokers have to a smoke free enviroment. And for some reason the biggest anti-smokers are former smokers. I guess when they ban cigs from everwhere you non-smokers won't mind paying higher taxes to make up for the loss in cig tax money.

Posted by trackdriver on 05-21-2009 12:34 PM:

I think you can smoke but not in certain places. You still have your civil right to smoke. LOL

The reason behind that can be attributed to,

"Wising up"

and

"Growing up"

No statewide smoking ban. Instead, Indiana's 1993 statewide smoking law, the Clean Indoor Air Law, generally prohibits smoking in state government buildings, schools, healthcare facilites, fire and police stations, childcare and daycare facilities, healthcare provider offices, retail areas of grocery and drug stores designated as nonsmoking, dining areas of restaurants designated as nonmoking, and school buses during school hours or when transporting children.[56] In state government buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, fire and police stations, childcare and daycare facilities, and healthcare provider offices, the proprietor may designate a smoking area, but does not have to, and in either case must post warning signage as appropriate.[56] The law covers no other places, and the state is empowered to grant waivers from this law.[56] Local governments may regulate smoking more strictly than the state law.[56] Attempts in the Indiana General Assembly to ban smoking statewide have failed three times, first in April 2007 when the Indiana Senate removed a smoking ban from a health care funding bill which had been passed by the Indiana House of Representatives, again in January 2008, when a proposed statewide smoking ban introduced by State Rep. Charlie Brown died in a House committee without a vote or debate,[57] and then again in April 2009 when another proposed statewide smoking ban introduced by Rep. Brown was passed by the House by a vote of 70-26 after being amended to exempt restaurants, bars, and casinos, and then did not receive a committee hearing in the Senate.[58]

Good Post!!!
The arrogance of our political class today is truly shocking. The vast numbers of Americans who willingly give up their right to self determination to the political hacks in their State house or in Washington is even more shocking. I think that Jefferson said it well when he said

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it"
Thomas Jefferson

After reading all of this, I have become to wonder if Autumn Oaks is really about coonhounds and hunting or smokers and their egos.

If not being able to coat your lungs with tar while on PRIVATE PROPERTY will keep you away from the biggest event we have every year I question your dedication and enthusiasm about our heritage.

In my opinion , those who are putting limitations on those who participate are the ones who should be questioned !

Do you put limitations on people on your private property??

Let me get this straight. The smokers are mad because they are not allowed to do what they want on SOMEONE ELSE"S PROPERTY??

Dont get me wrong. i am all for people being allowed to smoke.but I am also allowed for people to be able to control what does and doesn't happen on THEIR PROPERTY.

properity

that is owned by taxpayers... probably more cigerette tax paid for it than any other... so smokers own as much as non-smokers the way i see it

I guess it depends on how many people I want there.
The less people I want , the more limitations I'm gonna put on them !
If I don't care how many , or want as many as I can get , less.

nailer man

i dont know you but i have had hounds since the early 70's which probly isnt very long in some folks view. when i first started out all i had was grade dogs an loved them cuase the could tree coons an were alot cheaper than the reg, dogs at the time. them ole grade dogs bought alot of gifts for my kids an wife an i wouldnt have wanted it any other way. when i did get my first couple of reg. dogs i started going to the hunts an had a great time an there wasnt a word said about smoking , now i'm just a pleasure hunter that loves to hear a real good dog work a track an have a coon in the tree when this crippled up ole man gets there an your saying i dont care about coonhunting. i have 3 youngmen that have dogs or want a dog i take hunting with me whenever i can an try to teach them to listen to the dogs they will tell you what is going on . i'm trying my best to pass then sprot on to the youngmen so dont ever tell me i dont care about coonhunting , it just jerks my chain abit when someone tells me i cant smoke outside by a tree not bothering anyonean if that bothers you so be it i cant help ya.

Kirkland, Im against forcing adults to wear seat belts and helmets too, although I wear them myself.
Im not sure if its a horse or a mule, but its what Ive got. Thanks for the good luck wishes, Im gonna need it.

Posted by mike loyd on 05-22-2009 02:18 AM:

just a thought

i was wondering if there going to throw the people out that drink beer an all the other stuff they bring along an hide in cups an cans, are the cops an ukc going to throw them out to an check there cups?? i'd take a bet that more people have died from drunkin drivers than afew people standin by a tree havin a smoke but i could be wrong to i was once.

I understand, but it also aggravates me when people feel the need to think they should be able to do whatever they want to do on private property.

Like I said earlier. I used to smoke..... The nicotine and the smoke seems to blind us when it comes to being rational and using common sense.

I have a grand idea...We will have a Autumn oaks for smokers only...We can call it Autmn SMOKES. LOL!

Leaving my cigarettes in the truck is a small price to pay to see old friends and some nice hounds. I will be there with bells on.
