We have been fooled once all ready by a guy who claimed to be conservative but then after he was elected acted more like a drunken democrat.

What we need is a TRUE conservative in the white house. That is not what Rudy is!

Romney in 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can debate whether our position in the middle east is stronger or weaker.

I personally think it's stronger.

There's not much ability to debate that the economy is in excellent shape with very good unemployment numbers. These numbers are so low that virtually everyone that WANTS to be employed IS employed.

I do believe this is some of the lowest, if not the lowest, unemployment rates in our history.

The economy is in pretty good shape.

Dr. Jimmy, better stick to surgery and not political-economic-military analysis-lo.... continual support of the bush programs is like doing additional surgery on a dead patient... do support the president, but his programs have yet to be successful.... statistics never lie, statiticians often do... all politicos, both parties use loaded facts-stats to support their positions... if all patients expired after a certain procedure was performed believe the prudent thing would be to try a different procedure, not a reality or practice of the all-knowing- never wrong, or at least never admit being wrong bush administration... guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Well, one article written by one man on a website is a far cry from "many consevative organizations are suggesting that hillary ". that you said. But if we want a conservative candidate, then why look to the most conservative (which she is not) of the liberal candidates? I think you'll find there are plenty of folks that haven't assumed the GOP will automaticaly loose the next presidential election. If you remember back into history at all..... most thought there would be no possible way George W. would win his second term. Folks were saying the same exact things then... The bottem line is that the Republican party (which has many faults) still represents the values of most Americans then does the Democratic party. I've heard folks saying that George W. will be the end of the Republican party. I'll bet anybody anything they want that the Republicans will still be around and in fine shape after 08. Any takers? And I'd be willing to bet that whoever wins the next election, it will be by a very small margin, like the last couple elections.

neither of the major parties represent the interests of the citizen.... they only do the bidding of the big $$$ that supports-elects-keeps in office, that is their real agenda not the voice over used to gain votes... the needs of the public are sacrificied for getting in office, same for both parties... the only real way to take back the gov't. and return it to the people is public finance of elections that would make the elected offical accountable to the voters and not the big vested $$$ that has bought the elective process and thus the gov't. all soft money needs to be removed from the process or a cap of $100 or less per contributor be instituted... important to have choices and not one party domination, believe emergence of viable 3rd parties would also be a positive for the needs of the nation and its citizens, can't-wont happen under our current elective process, major parties have a strangle hold on the process and big $$$ has the major parties by the short hairs at the expense of the citizen-taxpayer...

Now that's funny!
I guess it's cool to be a part of an organization that includes Kennedy (take your pick), Frank, Clinton, McGreevey, Condit, Reynolds, Studds, Hart, Richmond, Goldschmidt, Giles, Jackson, Howe, Waggoner, Inouye, Savage, Adams, Young, Hays and others??????? Keep in mind this just list those who's offenses were sexual in nature.

plenty of corruption-hypocrites in both parties, say one thing and obviously do some thing far different, anti certain behaviors, yet do the same, phony beyond belief.... don't care about someone's sexual preference- personal matter, but do care if lie about it and persecute others for doing the same... the true conservative libertarian view allows for individuals to have the right to do as they want as long as others are not injured by the same...

Posted by truly on 09-04-2007 06:57 PM:

MBD- what we progressives understand is that politics have never been about the "cool" factor.we have understood that the policies passed are the bottom line. i am just suggesting that maybe the conservative republicans may start to realize that also.
rrs- this is not the only example just the quickest i could find. just watch you will start to see more and more.

believe there are quite a few voters that are social conservatives, don't want the gov't. to get involved in personal behavior, but on the other hand are populist or progressive in the sense that the gov't. needs to exercise leadership in creating opportunity structures, education, infra-structure, health care, etc. things that the public has a hard time doing, fund social security, real tax reform that benefits all not the fortunate few, rebates don't get it, a comprehensive tax restructure will, single rate income tax-no-no-no deductions or national excise tax that all must pay... course if don't get soft $$$ out of elective process, the pork and payback will continue to reign supreme...

(My) President Bush

Ron I want my mule to pull even when the wagon is loaded and my dog to stay treed even when everything else is running or trying to run him off and I expect the same from my president, grit and determination.
I can't believe a you didn't want to start a war since you fired the first shot

Posted by rrs on 09-05-2007 09:15 PM:

desire the same, but want my mule hitched to the right load and fire shots at the correct target, do not believe that is the case, if dog treed wrong want him to get right and not stay hooked at the empty tree, admire-respect fortitude, but when wrong need to re-hitch-re-tree, reload and refire, not just more of same when wrong...

Our National Representatives!

A realistic announcement could say something like : "Ladies and Gentleman, we present to you, the President, Vice-President, and Congressional members of the United States." Brought to you by Exxon Mobil, Merck, Phillip Morris, Etc., Etc. Of course, we can't forget the RNC and DNC, which are largely funded through corporate sponsorships (quite often a lot of the same ones). Let's not forget that foreign interests also buy their way into this process!!!

Our Representatives (being facetious---we don't really have any) don't represent the voters they were elected to serve, they represent their sponsors. Imagine the politicians wearing colorful suits proudly displaying the logos of their sponsors (like a NASCAR car). It would be a more honest and truthful representation.

If you don't have a vote, you shouldn't be able to contribute to a political campaign (whether directly or through conduits).

It seems like when we're voting, we have a choice between the wolf in elephant clothing and the wolf in donkey clothing. If you look close enough, they are pretty much the same!

I'm sure there's no shortage of ideas to positively change this corrupt political culture. But, good ideas have little chance of winning over the entrenched corporate sponsorship.
