Took a tour through MO this past weekend...Kinder, MO water race on Saturday and Cole Camp, MO water race on Sunday...
We did pretty good on the bench and the water!! Great weekend!! It was really good to see some of you guys!!

**Hey guys, just a little heads up...
Be careful about putting those color collars on your dogs that may be stretched out or just too big..

It's never happened to us before, but Ice Baby got her foot hung up in hers yesterday...Sam thought he was gonna have to go in after her!

We are not real sure at what point it happened, because when she came out of the box and on to the dock, she wouldn't jump off the dock.
When she did finally jump into the water, she just flat out couldn't swim..She looked like a bucking bronc in the water.
She turned around and struggled pretty hard to the bank..We still were not sure what in the world was going on until she was out of the water..

Just be careful! Just a little reminder of how quick something so fun can go so wrong!

Colored Collars

I bought 18" ones for our swim pond. I hope that will be ok. Thanks for warning on collars. Sound like you folks are having a lot of fun. I wish I could travel like you folks. Money is pretty tight for us family wise.

I totally understand to money issues. We have to make an honest choice sometimes on going or not. I started showing in all-breed last year and had to miss alot of water races due to the money just not being there.This year, I really wanted to continue in all-breed with my bred-by puppies...but my heart is in water racing and field trials...so here we are. The obsticles are there and standing strong, but it helps us in having such a supportive family. Not to mention that our boys have finally moved out! LOL...Sam has to stay behind and work more times than he gets to go.

Sabrina, I had the same thing happen to me a long time ago in AZ. My dog hooked a back leg through one of those stretched out collars when she came off the bank. She was a fantastic swimmer, so it took us a while to figure out why she was going in circles and going underwater. Luckily it was a pretty narrow pond, but we were about to go in and get her. Obvious what had happened when she came out the other side and went to the tree on 3 legs. I thought the club should have re-run that heat, but they didn't agree with me.

When we had our club in CA, we bought swim socks in 2 different sizes. That way people who needed to cover the ears on their dogs could, and the judges weren't confused by the colors of a sock plus a collar. On dogs that don't need them over the head, they make nice, wide, easy-to-see collars.
Other clubs used that stretchy marker tape. You just rip a couple long pieces off and tie them to your dog's collar in a few places.
It worries me every time I put one of those stretched-out collars on my dog in a WR.

Yeah, I thought about if I should have asked for a re-swim, but really just decided to let it go...She hesitated and jumped around little at the docks edge. I thought something was wrong, just not sure if the collar had already gotten hung up while in the box. I just couldn't see that far to see what her malfunction was. So, just because of her messing around on the edge, I felt she would have lost anyway, so it was not really 100% far to ask. I knew instantly something was wrong when she couldn't swim!!!

Had a fun time at Troy IA last weekend !!!!! The best part was seeing many of My old friends that I haven't seen in a long time! For anyone that dosen't already know it let Me tell You this is one of the finest clubs around !!! Especially enjoyed seeing Chawn and finally meeting Tiny in person, they are a great pair of Bluetickers!!!
Also had a fun time at Cole Camp MO the following day(Sun.) once again the best part was seeing all My local friends (as this is My local club) and My long distance friends especially Sabrina and Sam with their outstanding Redbones,and of course Jerry who won the last years MO state WR championship.
The only thing I won all weekend was first tree in the champion part of the WR at Troy (this makes four first trees for "Ole Blue")and yet He still hasen't got a line and tree togather champion win. I've never had this happen to Me before mainly because it used to be that champions usually swam alone. LOL Those swim alone days are over in fact Cole Camp actually had two heats of champions. CYa

It was good seeing you last week as well...Maybe one day we will get up that way...Right now it seems we will have plenty to do a little closer to home though. But who knows where we might show up at!! LOL

We went to American Red Days this weekend..Tracker won GRFCH 1st tree both days in the field trials..Grace, Hemi and Johnnie Angel picked up some points in their heat races. I also hunted in my first nite hunt(ladies cast). I had a blast!!

Tree Help

Put a coon In a rope bag and muzzle her with a wire muzzle that she can bark with and put bag out in front of tree and have a rope attached and run her in to bag, she can't bite bag so she will bark then catch her and have them pull bag 2 ' up on tree and hold her back letting her bark then take it up tree. Give he 30 minutes and repeat.

Ahhh, the days of being able to coast to GrW once you finished to WCh. Not anymore! Now the fun goes on when you get into the WCh class.

Dennis, 4 first trees still counts. Now all you have to do is make his 5th race count for both!

Congrats to all who did well or just had fun running/swimming this past weekend. We didn't go anywhere, but I believe Tiny and Shawn will be heading north this coming Saturday. Don't know if they've decided yet on whether it'll be Boyceville or Greenwood. Anyone want to put in a pitch for one or the other?

Sounds like Greenwood, WI is the place to be on July 14! Plott Sectional with a FT and WR. Hope to make it there!

Should be a good time this Saturday the 16th at our greenwood club! We will be having field trial and water race. Leashes and collars for prizes! Good food raffles and fun. Might even sneak a 50/50 water race in. All dogs swim together just must be full hound. Our clubs pretty good about letting people practice just not during the show .

Next weekend we will be getting up to support the Wilton club and then...

Plott sectional on July 14th will be a great event! Going to have 50/50 water race, treeing contest and roll cage in addition to the regular events.

Calblu- yes we have two events in July. The reason being is the Plott sectional is usually held by another club but they asked if we could host this year. Then we have our own event the 21st.

Greenwood WI Pond. We just fixed the fence on both sides and its a pretty good pond to get em swimming! Not sure if I posted this before. Couldn't be there on June 2nd was at family wedding but should be at the rest. Ill mostly be running the kitchen except during the water race lol

Well.....my dog sure won't go off a dock like your plotts. If she gets in at all it'll probably be about the time all the other dogs are getting to the tree. And she'll probably lie down and just slide herself over the edge.

Yeah the ledge is a make or break for some dogs but if ya come and we do a practice after the race once you get them in, there is usually no going back.

Ranger there on top was just born a swimmer. I finished him to grand in one season and he never hesitated to jump even on flat land he does that. Really hoping it carries on to his pups im raising.

Shawn, you know what my dog did this past weekend, before the trip started and after you made it up there. Thanks for chauffering Tiny and helping handle dogs.

Rose got line & tree in the water race final in Boyceville WI. I checked points with UKC and that win finished her to WCh! Looks like her and Copper will probably be swimming together this weekend.

Here's the video of Rose in the final. (Take your dramamine if you get motion sickness....and excuse Tiny's comment at the end. He can't keep his mouth shut when he's video'ing...lol).

Bench Show at 5pm
Water Race at 6:30
Nite Hunt at 8pm
