CONGRATS TO NATE AND BLITZ
I would like to congratulate Nate Reynolds and his Blitz dog for placing and getting in the money at a PKC hunt this weekend. Couple weeks ago Nate took Blitz to his first UKC hunt and got a first place win. Last night Nate put Blitz in his first PKC hunt and won a fist full of dollars. Blitz is not yet 10 months old and is off to a very good start. Blitz is a full brother to my Sonic dog. They are out of HARPETH RIVER BLUE JACK X MCGINNIS' BLUE THUNDER. CONGRATS AGAIN TO NATE AND BLITZ.

I went hunting with a good friend of mine John Bishop last night. John has been hunting my Sonic dog since first part of February. I have not hunted with Sonic since the night John and I made the arrangements for John to finish the season out with him. I took Bash to hunt with John and Sonic. First drop, Sonic gets stuck quick and treed quick, Bash backs him on the tree. Sonic has the meat. We lead off and cut again, they get 500 yds quick stuck and treed. They have a den. We lead off and cut then, they grub up an old cold track out in the field next to the timber. They heat it up then Sonic goes super sonic and drives that track hard and fast and getting deep. The ole coon tried to loose him but Sonic kept the heat on. Sonic trees in a section of timber that is 700 yds off the nearest road. This timber sets out in the middle of a large corn field. I caught Bash crossing the road and loaded him up. We head into Sonic, We get there. It is a smaller tree, but still tall. As I walk in I am shinning the tree I don't see anything, I thinking this is where the coon fooled Sonic, but at about that time John said here he is and sure enough, Sonic had the coon. Sonic pushed that coon so far up that tree the was not limbs left to climb. Sonic did an outstanding job last night , in my opinion. Sonic is not yet 10 months old, he is most definitely something very special. Bash did pretty good last night. Bash is now 8 months old and I am very happy at the way he continues to progress.

02-29-12 HUNT
I took Bash out last night by himself for a short hunt. First drop, Bash hunts out kind of slow, but stays out hunting. I get a few booger barks out of him down by the ditch. I head into him, see nothing and put him on lead and move on up the ditch. I cut him back loose. Bash falls treed on a den tree. The coon is there, I seen it as I walked in. We load up and move. Next drop, Bash takes off, but still a little slow. I am about 300 yds from the truck and my light goes dead. Bash is fairly close to me and I call him to me. I get him on lead and we head to the truck. I have a Laser Pro light, and I can't remember the last time I charged it. I guess I got too use too, not having to charge it very often. It was not the lights fault, it was mine. It is a very good light and I like it. Below is a picture of Bash on the wood last night. Bash is now 8 months old he is out of Nitech Harpeth River Blue Jack X Dual Grand Anderson Fox Creek Penny.

I just recently had a litter of pups out of Harpeth River Blue Jack and a Heavy Smokey River bred female I called Balie. Balie goes back to Chuck Coat's Lucy female top and bottom. Anyway I had a couple guys back out on getting their pups. I wasn't going to keep any from this litter at first. I was going to buy one back at a later date, but with having some guys back out, looks like I am stuck with a nice little male. He seems to be a very smart acting pup. I have not yet come up with a name for him, and still a little undecided if I am going to keep him for sure. I got several young males I am working now and have a female coming in the near future. But I will say this little male does impress me very much. He is just now 10 weeks old. I'm kind of proud of him and thought I would share a few pictures of him.

We got around 3 inches of snow tonight. I decided to go out for a bit. I left the old dogs home. I thought I would see how my new pup would handle the snow. We only made one tree and the snow was blowing too hard to shine it. Below is a picture of tonights turn out. Still haven't got a name for him yet. Enjoy the picture.

Brother came over last night for a hunt. We didn't turn loose until 11:00 pm. Brother took his black female Raven and I took Zeus. Zeus hasn't been out since season closed and he was ready to go. First drop, Raven gets stuck, Zeus strikes in, they run the track around the edge of a pond. They take the track on into the timber. Zeus slams a tree. Raven keeps moving. We head in to check Zeus he is treed on a large den. I lead off and cut Zeus back into Raven. Raven and Zeus are having trouble moving the track. Raven trees with Zeus treeing right there with her. We head in to check the tree. It has a lot of vines up in it. Brother crosses the ditch for a better look at one side of the tree and finds the coon. We pull off and head for the truck. Second drop, Raven strikes followed by Zeus. They move the track to higher ground on the edge of a field. Zeus trees, we check him it's a den. I lead off and cut back into Raven. They are having a heck of a time with this track. Raven is working out in the field and Zeus is working a fence row pretty hard. It's getting late and Brother and I are both starting to have trouble with our Garmins losing signal. I get my hands on Zeus and load him. We find Raven over by the next road, treed, we can't find it, she missed. We head for the truck. Both of our Garmins were having trouble getting and holding on to GPS signal late last night. We decided to head home. Below are a couple pics of last nights hunt.

Took Zeus out by himself last night. Bright moon out, I was figuring on a tough hunt, but it wasn't too bad. First drop, Zeus gets in a couple hundred yards makes 2 track barks, then trees. I head to him it is a den. I lead off and cut him back loose, Zeus goes another 300 yrds before striking, then another 200 yds and trees. I head to him, he has the meat. We head for the truck and move. Second drop spot, I cut him, Zeus falls treed 100yds in, its a den tree. I lead off and cut him again. Zeus strikes another 300 yds in, moves the track to the south on 250 mores yards and comes treed. I head to him. He is tree on the edge of a field. I can see the tree as I am walking to him across the field, nice big tree, but I can't find the coon or a hole, got to mark it up as slick. We lead out and head for home. Below is a couple pictures of last nights hunt.

Well I hunted Zeus in his first UKC hunt,a BBCHA sectional hunt last night. I wasn't real sure me and him were ready. As it turns out we weren't. I hunted him quite a bit this winter and thought I knew him well. Last night he started leaving me guessing what he was doing. So, I withdrew half way through the hunt. I don't enter a hunt where I have to rely on guessing so I got out. You know how it always seems like you go to a hunt or hunt with someone for the first time and somewhere down the line you here these words"I have NEVER seen him do that before" Well Zeus made me say those words last night. It's not that he did bad, he did alright, I just believe it is a little early yet for the hunts. I do know I enjoy pleasure hunting him very much. But last night was not a total loss. Carl Meeks owns a litter mate brother to Sonic and Nate's dog Blitz. Carls dogs name is Rascal he is 10 months old. Carl entered Rascal in his first UKC hunt last night. When all the cards came back and were tallied up, Carl and Rascal got 2nd place registered. So CONGRATULATIONS to Carl and his dog Rascal on their 2nd place win in Rascal's first hunt entered. Rascal is out of Harpeth River Blue Jack X McGinnis' Blue Thunder.
I would also like to congratulate my friend Harold Johnson on his first place registered win last night with his dog Smoke, which I believe is out of Boomer.
Congrats also to steeb_63 on his 4th place registered win with his young blue dog.

Thanks for the congrats Harold and congrats to you on winning King of Hunt at the Robinson, IL BBCHA Bluetick Sectional. Thank you to Tracy Vernon for handling and winning King of Show with my Hardware dog. Tracy and Russ also won Queen of Show at this hunt. Between Harold, Russ and Tracy they took home a truck load of trophies. Below is a pic of Harware with Russ, Tracy, and myself. We have had some sucess over the years at this BBCHA hunt. Hardware's grand dam on the topside, Briner's Blue Brandy was Queen of the Hunt in 2001, Hardware's Sire, Blue Midnight Ambush was King of the Hunt in 2003, and Hardware himself was King of the Hunt in 2011 and King of the Show in 2012.

03-10-12 hunt:
I went hunting with Russ Vernon and his Banjo dog. I took Bash. This was the first time I have had a chance to hunt with Banjo. Banjo is a nice hound, I enjoyed hunting with him and always have a good time with Russ. First drop, Banjo strikes in, Bash strikes, Banjo works the track up and moves down up the creek. Banjo trees and Bash backs him. We make our way to them. Tree is slick, had a limb cross out over to the other side of creek. We head out and move. Next drop, they get stuck out in a corn field. It's a tough track. Banjo shuts up and next thing you know he is treed 500yds behind us. I catch Bash at the road and put him up before we head into Banjo. We get to Banjo's tree, he has the meat in a big oak. We head out and move. Last drop, they strike quick, and move on in Banjo trees, with Bash backing. We head in to the tree. Bash is a little loose on the tree but not bad, I tie him back. They have the meat. We head for the truck and call it a night. Below is a couple pictures of last nights hunt.

Hunted Hardware by himself tonight. First drop deep and fast, treed with a coon looking down. Second drop, caught a greaser in the field, I let him know thats not what we are after. Lead him off about 50 yrds back across the road and cut loose again. Deep and fast, caught a coon on the ground. I let him know that is what we are after. Third drop, stuck quick at 150 yds, and pushed track fast and deep, Hardware trees at 950 yrds. I was able to drive down the road and cut that distance in half. I get to Hardware he has the meat. Hardware did a pretty good job, he has only been hunted every now and then. I figured he would be a little rusty. Below is a picture of tonights hunt.

I took Zeus out by himself last night. First drop, Zeus strikes in at 230 yds, moves the track to 540 yrds and trees, I set back on the truck and listen to him tree for about 20 minutes before I start to head to him. Zeus is treed on a den, but I find the coons tail sticking out of the hole. We lead out to the truck and move. Next drop, I cut Zeus in a little corn field next to the timber, Zeus cuts into the timber right away, strikes and track barks 2 or 3 times then comes treed 40 yds from me. I check his tree, I find the coon trying to bury it's head in a deep fork of the tree. We load up and move. Next drop he gets in around a pond, coyotes start up and Zeus makes his way back to me. There was something that spook him in there. He doesn't usually come back like that, so I loaded up and moved. Last drop, I cut him, it's not long and he comes back again. I'm thinking what is going on here. I put him on lead and walk on down the edge of the corn field about 30 yrds and cut him again. I watch him on the Garmin he is hunting the area out well. Come to find out there was coyotes right in there with us. He crosses the creek and loops back towards my direction and just falls treed. I walk into him. Its is a big tree that has two main trunks, almost like 2 trees. It also has big swelled out spots on it like a den. I shine it, I can't find a coon and can't find a hole, I mark it up as slick. It's getting late we head for the house. Below is a pic of last nights hunt.

I decided to try and hunt tonight in between the storms. I took Zeus by himself . First drop, it's lightly raining, I cut loose. Zeus strikes in at 78 yrds, he opens again at 150 yrds, and trees at 330 yds. I let him tree for a while before I head into him. I get to him it is a den. We lead out to the truck and move. I get to my next spot and it is raining harder. Zeus was hunted quite a bit in the rain during the first part of season, but not in hard down pours with thunder and lightning. I cut him loose, he strikes in quick and opens here, then there, then slams a tree. I let him tree for a bit. Zeus treed through 2 heavy down pours and I get to him just as the 3rd down pour hits. I take cover against a big tree while this 3rd down pour hits. I am about 50 yrds from Zeus. When the rain slows down I am able to shine his tree. Zeus has 2 coons in his tree. I wasn't sure how he would handle the storms, I kind of figured it wouldn't bother him. But I wanted to take this opportunity tonight to find out. Zeus done an excellent job in the storms tonight. We lead out to the truck and I take Zeus to Hardees for a Big Hamburger. Zeus makes quick work of the Hamburger Below are a couple pics of tonights hunt.

03-18-12 HUNT
I went hunting by myself last night. I went late, I didn't make my first turn out until 11:00 pm. I decided to take Hardware and Zeus together last night. First drop, Hardware is gone hard and fast, Zeus had taken off to the left and was not near as deep as Hardware, but was working towards the same direction. Garmin shows Hardware is getting close to the other road which is about a mile away. I get in the truck and drive around to the next road. Hardware and Zeus are treed. I get to them it is a large oak den. We lead out and move. Next drop, I cut them, Hardware strikes at about 300 yrds, and moves on south. Zeus strikes in behind Hardware. Hardware trees at 860 yrds. Zeus is around 350 yrds still working. I check the Garmin, it shows an oil field road that will get me with in 150 yrds of Hardware, so I drive around to it. I get to Hardware he is treed right on the little creek. Hardware has the coon. I catch Zeus coming into Hardware. He is a little late and I don't let him touch the tree. We lead out and move. Last drop, I decide to turn Zeus out by himself. He strikes in and moves the track close to the next road, which can be a busy black top road. I drive around. I don't want to take a chance with this road, so I head in and catch him. We head to the house. Below are a few pictures of last nights hunt.

I would also like to CONGRATULATE, CARL MEEKS AND RASCAL.
