Robin is still on the injured reserve list but she is healing and will be ready for the timber in a week or two.

Smoke

Dennis, you are right. Friday night the weather didnt cooperate with us much but we managed to tree a couple. Saturday night the coon were moving but not fast enough!!!! We caught three on the ground the first three dumps. Sad part was you only get half your points on those deals. We treed four more after that and had dogs splitting with the meat. My problem was Smoke self destructed on the last dump. Had second tree and it took us a while to get to them and Smoke left right in front of us and treed about 100 yards on further in. That cost me big time but he took a ton of pressure with three dogs treeing thier guts out every breath and he just hammered away on his.
I told them guys that if they ever come to Kansas not to expect coon to be that thick and ours are smart enough to get up a tree!!!haha I had a blast and hunted with some awsome dogs, can't wait for next year.

One can tree some coon up there but when you have lots of split trees the hunting time can get away from you.

And I are rested up now from the trip. Hope to get some wood time in this week with Smoke and Robin. We don't have the coon population those guys up north have and Smoke will be in withdrawal.haha

Dogs have looked good this week considering all the rain.

Tuff, Tuff Hunt

Timmy and I went to Macon and drew double tuff. Timmy hunted Smoke and drew Jess Dickerson and his Little Mountain Ann female that just won $20,000.00 and Smoke held up his end but Timmy made one bad call and cost him the cast win. Timmy said that Smoke was the dog to beat on his cast.

I hunted Robin and drew Jess Dickerson's X dog (out of X Jr and Insane Jane). We treed 7 coon and one den and I had 998 3/4 plus and drew 100 minus on a bad call on my part and the X dog granded out ( that was his 5th ntch win) with 1068 3/4 plus. He is a super tuff dog but I was also super proud of Robin. She had three first trees on X and he had four. She ran hard and treed her guts out, to put on a show for a 18 month old pup hunting against 3 older Nite Champions.

Back up and punt, hunt hard and be ready for the next one. Robin will be ready.

P.S. Timmy won champion of champions on bench with Smoke. Thats 4, one more and Smoke will be Dual Grand.

Hunt

I have seen a lot of dogs that won a hunt and did not look good. There is no shame in loosing to a GOOD dog , as long as they KNEW YOU WERE THERE! From what I hear they definately knew that they were there. Don't back up, don't punt, keep going straight ahead and Robin will show what she is made of. That's two big hunts that you have had her in and people are TALKING............Tim

Roy this is Trent I'm very thankful of the kind words u said about the x dog I hunted your female was very nice to I couldn't make any mistakes or u and her was going to fly by me I had fun the best group of guys at the hunt drew out together no fussing or anything had a great hunt with some good dogs good luck to ya in the future and I would feed your female any day of the week

Thanks, it was a good hunt. On hunts like that I don't mind getting beat by a GOOD DOG even if he was a walker.haha I'm no prophet but my prediction would be that Little X will be a world contender if not this year maybe next. Just keep lookin over your shoulder because there are some Blueticks putin the heat on. If you are down my way give me a call and we will go on a pleasure hunt. My cell is #620-224-7555.

Trent,
Roy is just that kinda guy, he will tell it like it is and give credit where credit is due. Roy says you have a nice hound so you must have a nice hound. Roy did say that he had one bad fault, being a Walker. Good luck in the Big one...........Tim

I have a Pop-a-Top female that is starting to come in, do you think it will make a good cross on Smoke. This female will get the job done in the woods. She is Psycos mother, so I know that she will throw tree dogs. Give me a call.........Tim

I've hunted with two of the pups out of her and they are independant go younder tree dogs. I'd like to give it a shot. With Smoke's drive and speed lookin to get treed it should be a good cross. Ought to be some good lookin pups out this cross also.

Danny called and wants to breed his Slick female to Smoke also as soon as she comes back in. He said after huntin with Smoke that if he could get pups with Smoke's speed and lookin for a tree like him he would be in hog heaven. Danny has seen Smoke on his bad nights too and still likes him better than any thing goin.

Robin will be there. I talked to Danny and he is down in his back again and doesn't think he can make it.
Hunted Robin all week and I guess we will see if it pays off. She looks good most nights but with all this rain it has put a damper on huntin. She handles water pretty good anyway but some of these creeks are bank full.

Showed Smoke and got his last Champion win to make him Dual Grand.

Hunted Robin and won 1st place! Had a second on her so we need a 4th or better to finish her to Night Champion.
