Good tuesday morning to All.
47 degrees with rain, sun shine coming through clouds now.
Corky, did they invite your black dogs to cabin?
Bond, no pics of coon due to no Blue dogs there. You want ridges
Come on up. We hunt Md. Pa. Wv, some good ridges and mountains here. Hollows are deep. Garmins do not always reach far. Some ridge tops in Wv 2' wide and when u stand on top you can see down both sides.

Walked back down ridge 1000 yds across bottom 25 yards back up other side 1000 yards. Shot coon out. Back down to bottom 1000 yards. 1/2 mile back to truck called it a night.

Hello All!

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great day. I rested some again..between doing favors for Mum. Rain held off till the pm and it has RAINED hard! Snow nearly all gone, in the mid fifties. More snow coming though I heard? Akkkk!

Mum's pneumonia is back. SHe is being better about taking cough suppressants now so she will SLEEP so her body can try to heal. SO FAR they have been able to give her oral anitbiotics so she can stay at nursing home. If it does not work(I don't wanna think about that...) She would have to go back to hospital. Her spirits are great and with the meds she can talk in a raspy little voice on the phone and Bob got to talk to her tonight!
I"ve been using my inhaler today myself... Hmmm... I guess ammonia is an asthma trigger... Lesson learned! I'm just glad it's not a cold so I will be able to still go see mum on the weekend or as needed.
Nothing else new that I can think of. Running on empty with being tired and sorta stressed...but hanging on.

Thanks for the continued prayers and we are still sending ours for all on here who need as well of course!

Happy hunting if'n ya get out!
Heather

Morn'n,

Prayers needed for a local girl. Jessica graduated with my sons and went on to the same college. Couple years ago she was diagnosed with Addison's disease. This past weekend her mother found her in her bedroom unconscious. The ambulance arrived and resuscitated her. Not sure how long she was without blood flow. The leg deal is because of circulation and her kidneys are not functioning. Heard she had come to and was taken off the respirator. Not sure about brain damage, have kinda heard both ways.

I have copied the latest 2 e-mails that have come from her fathers office.

Re: Jessica Powell

To let each of you know the latest update of Jessica’s medical status:

As you know, Jessica’s Addison’s has caused a medical emergency. As a part of this recent emergency, her circulation has been compromised which requires the amputation of both of her legs above the knee. She will also require dialysis, hopefully for the short term, while the toxins are removed from her system.

All of your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated, and we are certainly passing them along as we receive your calls. As you can imagine, the family is focused on Jessica’s recovery, and as much as they would love to hear from you, they are unable to answer all of your calls and emails. You may send emails or pass on your well wishes through the office. You can either email or call at the contacts below and we will make sure they receive them.

Got this this morning

Last night we received the surgery update. There were no complications and the surgery went as originally planned. Jessica was going to be returned to her room and then they would begin the dialysis.

Jessica and her family will need our continued prayers and support.

Hey everyone.
Cold light snow here this morning.
Shannon, my wife dragged me to a concert last month in baltimore. Shine down and 3 days grace. They were ok, not my kind of music. Then she got mad when I put in ear plugs.
Prayers to all.
Bond, Thanks for invite. Nice pic of mts. Stay out of rocks. Steep looks like bear country.

Latest on Jessica

Jay is her father

Jay sent us this e-mail which explains Jessica’s condition and the events which have transpired leading up to the “crisis” which occurred this past Friday. We thought it might be helpful as so many of us have little knowledge of Addison’s Disease.

Two years ago Jessica was diagnosed with Addison's Disease which is when the adrenal glands shut down and quit producing cortisol (cortisone is the replacement hormone). Lack of cortisol causes low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, disorientation, lethargy, etc. she almost died then before we finally got a diagnosis.

When the body is under stress, the body produces extra cortisol. If it didn't, blood pressure would drop and we would die. As a result Jess has to wear a medic alert bracelet so emts know to give her higher doses in event of trauma, accident, serious illness, etc.

Early last thursday morning, jessica got a bad stomach virus, with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Got extremely dehydrated. Couldnt keep meds down so cortisone in her system dropped to zero. Stress of illness made her need more cortisone, which she wasnt getting which made her blood pressure drop dangerously low and put her in what they call an Addisonian Crisis. She passed out at noon on Friday less than 36 hours after she originally got sick. Carole called 911 and by the time EMTs arrived, she had quit breathing and they had to do CPR.

She coded twice at Mitchell County Hospital and they had to shock her. They got her stable and transferred her to Albany. She was hypothermic (90 degrees).

She has been on a vent since friday and has not been able to breathe on her own. They kept her sedated to try to keep her from pulling the vent out. Her blood pressure stayed real low for the longest time but has been stable for the last two days. Temperature spiked to 103 during the first night (Friday) and they had to ice her down.

The initial concern was possible brain damage from lack of oxygen while she wasn't breathing. She came around enough on Sunday to nod and shake her head, respond to questions and commands, so that was reassuring. She was confused, upset, hurting, uncomfortable, but was most definitely aware and apparently has most of her faculties. For this we are profoundly thankful.

However, she passed out and her heart stopped because she was dangerously dehydrated resulting in extremely low blood pressure. When this happens, evidently the body tries to protect its core organs by shutting off circulation to the extremities.

As a result of discoloration in Jessica's legs they called in a vascular consult Sunday afternoon who confirmed that there was serious damage to Jessica's left leg.

That is why we took her to Emory on monday. Plus, they wanted to put her on dialysis because kidneys were shutting down. We were looking at multiple organ failure and we needed more intense intervention.

When we got here damage to legs was much worse than we thought, was irreversible, and the toxins from the deteriorating muscles were damaging the kidneys, so we had no choice but to let them remove both legs, which they did last night.

She came through surgery and tolerated it well. She rested well last night. She is now on dialysis but we are hopeful that that is only temporary and that with support and lowered toxin levels the kidneys will bounce back.

If we can get her well, then we help her deal with the tremendous changes this means for her life.

We have been extremely blessed by the outpouring of concern and prayers from everywhere. We cannot believe the level of love and support we have received, and, in spite of everything, consider ourselves extremely fortunate.

Jay Powell
