It is based on the "pup". Two different pups from the same litter/bloodline will have two different personalities and hunting styles. How you train them depends on the pup. How do you "teach/train" your children? Are they all the same? Pups are no different. Of course, that is just my opinion. You can't have a debate unless you have two different opinions.

Good afternoon all, Seems like rain might have stopped for now. Calling for 2-4 inches of snow starting tomorrow afternoon. Might get one night to hunt this week.

I do agree with what your saying king Richard .. Do you think it more about training/teaching .... Or more ... On bloodline .. To what will produce a good coon dog ...?? I just would like to hear your thoughts ..
I do know of some people that have taken a cull dog and won "big" hunts with it ...

Couldnt resist the first post

Richard hit it pretty much on the head. Some start sooner then others. One thing I will add is the trainer has to be patient and realistic at same time. Is pup showing improvement and interest. A pup has to show me something which might be very little to some or I loose interest in the pup and they never get a fair shot.

Richard, we are a tad bit wetter then last year. The Slough at the house has some water in it but all the flats and ponds(sink holes) are still dry.

Well.. glad I have NO clue on answers to that question! I am glad you shared the Vid SHannon! SWEET!
Slick outside. we got about 4 inches or so then drizzle so it's wicked wet...would be KILLER snowballs! OUCH! Had a fun walk about with the mutts but I am glad to be inside!!
I am actually looking forward to getting on the treadmill tonight cause I figure it may warm me up a bit... lol....

John... I recall the amazing snow by Lake Erie when I was in OH for freshman yr of college...lol... FOrget where you are in OH but I'm sure you get plenty.... as we often do... I do envy the Southerners from time to time...then we see pix like Richards... SIGH... Weather can be a monster....

Shannon, of course we HAD to say only good things! Khloe is a total doll. Hope you get some rain you need(or some FUN snow!)

Lake Erie College, Painesville for the one yr...for horses and dounle major English. Decided to go home when horse went lame...did 1 sem at BU as Eng major...and quit to be a horse person...my poor parents.... they hated it....
I LOVED the land around school out there. Went 4 wheeling with friends etc...If I had known people coonhunted around there I'da tried to find friends to go with. I used to talk to some of the Amish boys who worked at the barn but they never would have talked about HUNTING to a girl at the college...lol.. MAN WAS IT COLD at the Barn! Akkkk....... I was there in the 1978-79 yr I guess.

well it did not work its wet out there long walk and a late night got in a white pine thicket between that and the rain the only thing that dry are my feet
