A BLESSED NEW YEAR

MAN THIS PAST YEAR FLEW BY ,WHERE DID IT GO?AS IM GETIN OLDER THEY JUST GO BY ALOT QUICKER.AS YOU LOOK BACK ON THIS PAST YEAR YOU WILL SEE LOTS OF GOOD THINGS IN YOUR LIFE,BUT THERE WILL BE THOSE NOT SO GOOD THINGS ALSO.WE ALL HAVE THEM IN MARCH 2009 I WENT THROUGH A TORNADO THAT TORE EVERYTHING UP HERE AT MY HOUSE IT WAS BAD,I HAD A KNEE SURGERY IN APRIL,WENT BACK TO WORK AND GOT KICKED BY A PRISONER AND TORE ALL THAT KNEE SURGERY THAT I HAD FIXED BACK UP AGAIN,I HAD ANOTHER SURGERY IN JULY,IM STILL HAVIN TROUBLE WITH THAT,,WHAT IM GETIN AT HERE IS THROUGH ALL THIS,I CAN LOOK BACK AND SEE WHAT GOD WAS SHOWING ME,GOD GAVE ME MANY BLESSINGS ALONG WITH ALL THOSE TRIALS,EVERYTHING AT THE MAGGARTS HOUSE IS AWSOME ,BECAUSE I KNOW GOD WAS WITH ME THROUGH IT ALL AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME..I DONT KNOW WHAT 2010 HOLDS FOR ME ,BUT IM READY FOR WHAT EVER IT MIGHT BE ,,ASK GOD INTO YOUR LIFE IF YOU HAVENT ,HES WAITING FOR YA TO ASK.ITS SO SIMPLE JUST ASK HIM TO COME INTO IT AND HE WILL.....TO EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE NEW YEARS ,AND MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU IN THE NEW YEAR TO COME,GOD LOVES YAS ,WE LOVE YAS , YOUR FRIEND IN CHRIST,RON

Happy New Year. I too wonder what this next year holds in store for me, but I don't worry. God has blessed me with more than I deserve! I do know that, and I also long for his return and I want to be ready to meet him face to face whenever that time comes. Please if you haven't excepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour do that today and don't put it off cause you just never know what tomorrow brings!!!!!!!!! God's grace is sufficient!! I got this in an email and thought I would share. It speaks alot of truth.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees... I don't feel threatened.. I don't feel discriminated against.. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay...

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

If you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Just wanted to share one of the articles I wrote on our youth group page. They are sort of mini-lessons/devotionals.

I cannot wait to meet Jesus face to face.

John 8:4-11 CEV Then they said, �Teacher, this woman was caught sleeping with a man who isn�t her husband. 5 The Law of Moses teaches that a woman like this should be stoned to death! What do you say?� 6 They asked Jesus this question, because they wanted to test him and bring some charge against him. But Jesus simply bent over and started writing on the ground with his finger. 7 They kept on asking Jesus about the woman. Finally, he stood up and said, �If any of you have never sinned, then go ahead and throw the first stone at her!� 8 Once again he bent over and began writing on the ground. 9 The people left one by one, beginning with the oldest. Finally, Jesus and the woman were there alone. 10 Jesus stood up and asked her, �Where is everyone? Isn�t there anyone left to accuse you?� 11 �No sir,� the woman answered. Then Jesus told her, �I am not going to accuse you either. You may go now, but don�t sin anymore.�

Though this woman was deserving of death, at least in the eyes of the Mosaic law, (she was only part of the equation, where was the man whom she had sinned with, without a conspirator, how could she have been caught in adultery?) She was brought up on charges immediately, in the hopes that this would move Jesus to some sort of action that would lead to his breaking the law himself, instead, he simply bowed down and began sort of writing in the dirt, nobody knows what he wrote, but he spoke as he wrote. Maybe he was writing the law so that they could see it, maybe he was simply doodling, who knows! In the meantime, the Messiah, had come to the aid of someone who did not know him, and showed something that this person probably had been devoid of certainly in her adult life, LOVE, not physical love, but agape love. This is the kind of love that we all say that we have for others, but really cannot show.

Agape love is defined as such; The Greek word agape is often translated �love� in the New Testament. How is �agape love� different from other types of love? The essence of agape love is self-sacrifice. Unlike our English word �love,� agape is not used in the Bible to refer to romantic or sexual love. Nor does it refer to close friendship or brotherly love, for which the Greek word philia is used. Nor does agape mean charity, a term which the King James translators carried over from the Latin. Agape love is unique and is distinguished by its nature and character.

Though Jesus had yet to make that physical sacrifice, it very well could have happened there. You see, these men were ready to start throwing the stones (stones are a type of judgment). It very well could have been that some of those same men had been secretly meeting with this person, and committing the same sin that they had just caught her in. They may have been under the impression that by letting her go, they could some day be in the same predicament. no matter why they were so ready to kill her, the important thing is this, Jesus stood in the gap between her and her accusers, just as he does for us.

Satan has been called the accuser of the brethren, and yet, we have a defense.Just as this woman had a defense against her accusers. Jesus is that face of love, that person whom we are to emulate as Christians, those who are attempting to be Christ-like. The last coupleof verses of that piece of scripture are very telling.

10 Jesus stood up and asked her, �Where is everyone? Isn�t there anyone left to accuse you?� 11 �No sir,� the woman answered. Then Jesus told her, �I am not going to accuse you either. You may go now, but don�t sin anymore.�

You see Jesus very well could have accused her and he would have been right to do so, but, instead, he showed Mercy, he was the face of Love. Just as a mother or father might chastise a child, Jesus said, go on now, but, don�t do it again. Very Simple. Walk it out.

Daily we are tempted with the opportunity to sin against God, and we have two choices obviously. We can do as our flesh wants, have our fun, or we can do those things that are pleasing to God. When we sin, it is imperative that we seek God, repent, and then go and sin no more.
She met the Savior face to face and came away changed because of it!

We buried a dear older lady friend from our church today. She was also a dear friend of mine's mother as well. It brought back memories of the death of my own mother almost three years ago. It was awesome and so refreshing to remember the love this lady and also my mother had for the Lord. The legacy these wonderful women left us with is an inspiration and also a challenge. They knew that their victory over sin would finally be over when they met their Saviour Jesus Christ. As I set there today during the service I wondered to myself what would they say about me at my funeral if I would die tomorrow? Would they say that I was a loving man of God and that I did all that I could for Jesus while I was on this earth? Did I treat others with undying love like these wonderful christian ladies did? Today again I realized that our life here on this earth is short, and that we need to live our lives in such a manner that brings honor and glory to our Father in what ever we do. Lord, I pray that as I continue to live on this earth that you would continue to work in my life and that you would help me be the kind of christian man that would be a better husband , a better father , and a better friend to those that I love , and to those that love me. Help me do all that you would want me to do in the remainder of my life here on this earth. Help me to pass this legacy on to my children so they might grow up to be wonderful christian people as well. Thank-you for dear christian friends that have shown their love for you, and others, and may I follow their example always!! Amen. God Bless you all. Clayton.

I showed my pup at the Grand American on Sat.

It was so cold, but warm inside my truck so we stayed there most of the early morning. There were so many people there!

I was walking to the UKC barn to get signed in and I heard someone say, "I'll trade you for your dog." I stopped and smiled at the gentleman. He was in a tent that was giving away coco and coffie to help with the cold. He had a sign up that said the name of his church. Thru all of the people pushing past I heard him say again, "I'll trade you for your dog."

He was holding a bible. He said this was the way to heaven. Thru the Lord. He was kidding about the trading part, he just wanted to get my attention.
Sometimes it takes an unusual situation to get our attention.

A Sleeping Partner Who Benefits

Genesis 15:12
12Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram�

In business, sleeping or silent partners don�t work but still take home huge profits. They are like the wife of the boxing champion. He gets badly beaten up to win the prize money. But when he gets home, his wife takes it from him and says, �Thank you very much, darling!�

Do you know that in your covenant with God, you are like the boxer�s wife or the sleeping partner?

When Abraham asked God how he would know for sure that he would inherit the land that God had promised him, God made a covenant with him. (Genesis 15:8�21) But instead of cutting the covenant with Abraham by walking in between the animal pieces with him, God put Abraham into a deep sleep and cut the covenant with Jesus instead.

Jesus, the light of the world, appeared as the pillar of fire and cut the covenant with God the Father who appeared as the pillar of cloud. In other words, Jesus took Abraham�s place. He was perfect Man representing Abraham when He cut the covenant with His Father.

By substituting Abraham with Jesus, God was being gracious because if Abraham had done it, he would also have been responsible for keeping the covenant. And Abraham, being a mere man, would fail. But God the Son can never fail! Abraham�s blessings were therefore guaranteed because they did not depend on his performance but Jesus� performance. Abraham was literally a sleeping partner, a beneficiary of the covenant.

Today, God has also made a covenant with you, called the new covenant. And like Abraham, you are a sleeping partner because the new covenant was also cut between God the Father and God the Son at Calvary. You are simply a beneficiary of the new covenant. You enjoy all its benefits without having to work at keeping it. Jesus, your representative, has already fulfilled all the conditions on your behalf. And because His obedience is perfect and His work is perfectly finished, the covenant blessings for you are guaranteed!

My friend, there is nothing left for you to do, but everything for you to believe. Don�t try to work for your covenant blessings. Rest in the Son�s finished work and receive them by faith!

"I'll trade me for that set of turtle doves"
"I'll trade me for that Ox"
"I'll trade my life for yours"

And he did!
