Thanks we've been real blessed with some good females getting bred this month.

Cam smith sent this pm to dad a couple days ago. Fed X looks like a nice one Cam. The picture on the tailgate really resembles ole smoke. He lives in Louisiana.

Roy just sending you a update on Fed X. He has really been doing good this winter and most of the hunts he's been treeing coon. He's big as a small mule and is a pleasure to hunt, one thing i need to work one is when a coon is shot out to him you can forget getting the coon from him unless he's tied up and i kick it out of his reach, once it's in the vest he's fine, but when its on the ground he's insane over it. He trees alot only opening a few times and falling treed not sure whats going on but he trees more like that than he does running a track for a while, i couldnt be more pleased with him.I think i may try to get him in some hunts if i can find someone to show me the ropes, so far he's never hunted with another dog so not sure how he would act hunting with other dogs but i think he would be fine. GrNite Robin

Robin came in season and has been bred to our Deal pup. This is an Aunt X Nephew cross. Lots of good old Mad Dog breeding in this cross. Should be some extra go in these with a lot of tree. She will be due around the 5th of April. Keeping several for our selves and may have a couple for sale. I will post the ped later.

Our goal is to breed for the hunts. We are crossing for a true compition style hound with out giving up nose and accuracy. Speed and independent tree dogs is a must.

Real proud of what Smoke pups are showing. Early starters and an insane desire to get open and get treed. We will be pushing the big hunts mostly this year with Deal and Ralph. They look good coming out of kill season and we are ready to go to town.

Smoke pup

Talked to Earl Nation in mound city the other day he has a smoke x drizz male from the younger litter about 2 yrs old he calls Moe. He has been hunting him by himself a lot and treeing quite a few coons with him. Goes hunting hard covers a lot of ground, very good track dog and accurate tree dog. They pleasure hunt but I'm hoping to talk them into taking him to town a few times this spring/summer.

Hunting this time of year

Mark, Timmy has tufted it out alot more then I have. This last COLD front that went through wasn't fit for man or beast to be out. Timmy and the young guns have hit it pretty hard but I wimped out until last night.
We have been hunting with several young dogs out of Smoke that are sure enough impressive. Hunted with a guy that has a 7 month old male that will go all the way and do it fast. Reminds me alot of how Hanna started.
Tim is pounding Deal, Ralph and a Bullet II female right now. But the weather conditions have slowed down the hunting alot.
This weekend looks to turn for the better.
There are a couple $kc hunts we might hit this weekend.

Another Smoke x Drizz pup

Talked to Terry Hansen (Minn) last night, he said that Hick (Smoke x Drizz) has looked real good for the amount of hunting that she had this winter. Terry says that she is a hard tree-dog, has the ability to tree a pop up, running coon, work a bad track and tree lay-ups. Terry said that she needs 1 more win to be a GR Show and she has 2 2nds in the hunts. She should finish out this summer in the hunts...........Tim

Smoke pup

Hunted with a 7 month old pup out of Smoke and Sarah that is flat out making a dog. Hard track running little dude and can blow down a tree.
I'm still on 7/10s and have only got to hunt a little. Timmy has been hitting it pretty hard hunting Deal, Ralph and Ruby. They are doing great but we can't let up now. Tuning up a little but ready for town.
Lacy is starting to show and Robin is a little. Still waiting on Wendy to come back in.

Joe's pup

Here's a pic of Joe's pup he calls Ruger. Smoke x Sarah(smokey river female). He is 7 months old and coon crazy. The picture above is him on his first wild coon byhimself. Joe said he went almost 400 yards hunting him byhimself the other night. Not bad for a puppy!

Tim we started taking Little V to the woods tonight. I will tell you he has a horn on him. We are truly hoping for a solid coonhound, time will tell. Roy and Timmy had a lot to do with this cross! Hope the weather is agreeing with you and little brother.

Loud Mouth Ralph

I hunted Ralph at Nevada Mo tonight. We didn't win our cast but he was on 1 tree with the other dogs 2 dens by himself and a slick by himself. Held a lot of pressure and showed quite a bit of independence. I liked what I saw for his first hunt. Got something to build on anyways.

Ralph

Had a good hunt last night. Turned Ralph loose by himself he opened then shut up and went about 200yds gave a big locate then shut up. He didn't move on the garmin after the locate so I went to investigate. When I got to him he was shaking a coon. First one he's caught by himself. Turned him loose at another spot went about 450yds opened here and there, treed and had a coon. After that turned Deal loose byhimself and he opened a handful of times crossed a big creek and treed with a coon. It was a pleasant night and the dogs looked pretty decent.

Deal

Went to my first PKC hunt tonight and hunted Deal. It was the Ks state ch warm up hunt, $200 added money. I struck and treed him at 1000yds with about 12 minutes left in the hunt and had the only coon we saw in the hour hunt. Also had 3rd tree on a circle. Made it into the Final four we split it. Ended up winning $175. Might go back tomorrow night.
