Sheba 11

Took Sheba out for a run last night, Turned her of an old woods road into an oak flat. She went in about 300 yards and struck a working track, moved it on out another 200 yards and locked up treed. I moved on down the road and got even with her and walked in to her. She was treed up a hugh oak with a Magnolia tree on one side and a pine tree on the other side. There was a big hole about half way up in the oak. I shined around for a while to be sure he was on the inside, but he had made it home. We called it a night.

Sheba 11

regan girl name meaning

Took Sheba down the river a few miles tonight and hunted on a friend of mines place. We went about a mile back into the swamp and I cast her down river off an old woods road. She went in about 300 yards and struck a pretty good track, moved it on in another 150 yards and locked up treed. I went over to another woods road and turned down river and went till I was even with her. She was still 150 yards in. I walked on into her and she was treed up an oak tree. I found him pretty quick. I lead Sheba down the swamp a little ways and cast her again. She went in about 400 yards and just come treed. I rode down the old woods road until I was even with her. The farther I got down river the more water I saw. There was a lot of big sloughs in there. I usually hunted up river. This was the first time that I had hunted down river in this part of the swamp. I made my way in to where Sheba was treed. She was treed up another hugh Oak. I could see the top of the tree good, but there was some kind of ever green tree growing up into the oak and I couldn't see any of that part of the tree. I think there was a hole up in there, but I never could see enough to be sure. I leashed up Sheba and we made or way back to the 4-wheeler and called it a night.

Amos Moses

Matt this is Amos Moses on his second turn loose coon. I had turned the coon loose and went back and turned Amos loose and he went in there and found the coon cage, and I guess he thought the coon was still in the cage as he was giving the cage a rough time. I picked up the cage and walked back to the gate and put the cage outside the fence, and walked back toward the spot where I had turned the coon loose. I looked back and Amos was still at the gate wanting the cage. I called him and he came on and went back to the spot where I had turned the coon loose. He got to smelling around and made a couple circles around there and took of in the direction the coon had gone, by that time the coon had been gone probably 15 or 20 minutes. He went up the back side of the pen and I figured the coon had plenty of time and a lot of times the coon will climb the fence and this was a real big boar coon. I waited for a little bit to see what would happen and what Amos would do. I had walked up about midway of the pen. About that time I saw the coon coming my way and cut across the pen back toward the backside and about the time the coon disappeared I looked and there Came Amos hot on his trail. Amos wasn't saying much, but he was moving good. He made a small loose right there close to me, but it didn't take him but a minute to circle around and pick the track back up, and they circled back toward the front side. I waited a minute to see where they were going next and Amos treed. I walked in to him and he was treed up a big pine, and he had the coon. I would have liked to have knocked the coon out to him, but he had went in a big squirrel nest up close to the top and I figured if I shot him he would lodge there in that nest and I wouldn't get him out any way, so me and Amos left him up there.

Mr. Tommy this is Matt Guthrie's Pup and I think he told me that Amos was out of Case and Mr. Donald's female. He is a nice pup.

Amos is a litter mate to my puppy Garrett. And yes they are out of Case X Emmielou. I’m really liking my pup a lot. I would like to see him tighter on the tree but I guess for 9 months old I don’t want to expect too much. Thanks for posting the picture and the story. I texted Earl a few weeks ago to see how Amos was doing but never heard back from him.

Sheba 11

Took Sheba 11 out for a run tonight. I had a good hunt. The first drop she struck a hot track and moved it in about 150 yards and locked up treed. I walked in to her and she was treed up a big oak den tree. We left there and moved on down the river and cast her again, another good track. about 100 yards in and she locked up treed. walked in to her and found the coon pretty quick. Left him to run again. Glad to see the coons beginning to move again. We have been having a hard time getting a strike. We called it a night.

Dennis, Sheba is a nice little female. I really like hunting her. I wish I was still making the hunts. She would have been a lot of fun in competition.

COONS

Sheba looks good on that wood Mr. jack. I have had the same issue with coons not moving. Seems like every track I strike is a bad track. I have been hunting a couple of young dogs alone and they have had some struggles. Hope all is well with you and your hounds. Darren

That sure is a good looking picture Mr. Jack. Looks like Windy can really put em up! Hope all is well and best of luck to you and your hounds.

She looks and sounds good. I'm still kicking myself for not keeping one out of that litter. Thank you for keeping me posted on her.

Squirrel hunt with Windy

average salary of a forensic anthropologist

We had another enjoyable squirrel hunt this morning. From left to right. Wade, Terrel and Odell. I think we got 7. They were not stirring real well. The wind was blowing some. We are suppose to have some bad weather coming in today. Windy had to work hard for the ones we got. I think it was about 80 degrees this morning.

Sheba 11

Cast Sheba into an oak flat tonight, still a lot of water in there.
she went in close to 300yards and started circling at about the same distance. She crossed the woods road that I was on and made a circle to the west and then turned back east and then started moving north to a little over 4oo yards and locked up treed. I moved around close to where she was treed and walked on in to her. She was treed up a smaller tree going up into a hugh Turkey pine on one side and a hugh oak den tree on the other. The coon would have had no problem going into either one. I never could get to where I could see up the Turkey pine at all and If he was in the Den he was on the inside. I petted little Sheba up and we called it a night.

Sheba 11

Jeremy picked Smoke up today to hunt while I worked a couple of pups. Took Sheba out tonight for a run and that is about all we did. The coons sure were not moving. I took her up river to a pretty swamp next to a cattle farm. cast her. She headed north for about 300 yards and turned east to .9 miles and crossed a black top road and went on in another 100 yards and circled and came back across the road and hit a branch and followed it back to the river road and that's where I picked her up. We came back down the river and we went above the road in a nice swamp. I was about 300 yards from the road when I cast her on deeper in the swamp. She went east a couple hundred yards and turned south for about 400 yards and then turned west toward the highway and I always get nervous when they do that, but she got about 100 yards from the road and circled north and headed back east and then north again and was again getting close to the road. I headed toward her. I picked her up on an old woods road close to the highway. I decided it was time for us to call it a night before we got in trouble, as she had already crossed 3 black top roads tonight. that's 3 too many for me.
