Roy we took Hanna again tonight by herself and Corey went along to see for his own eyes. First dump she did not hunt very good and did not hit a track. Second place we dumped her she hit right off the bat and went about 275 yards and gave three dying bawls and rolled it over and had it. When she trees by herself she has a very beautiful locate and rolls it over to a very nice chop and is starting to get very intense! Nipped a little bark while we were shinning the tree but did not stop treeing. Third dump she got in there a little better to around 300 yards and hit and ran about 200 yards more and then hit a very hot 5 layer fence and that was pretty much all of that as it crossed a cow pasture to another woods. She did hit up a couple times but did not hang up so I did like that also. Coon season is in Kentucky!!!! We got a couple short videos but they are not wanting to load, will try to get them to load a little later.

Boy she is intent on those trees. She should be hard to beat come spring.

We hunted Smoke in the MCHF Invational Finals this past weekend and Smoke won his cast on Friday night.He had 425plus and was fith high scoreing dog. Saturday he drew a super tuff cast and got beat. He treed one coon and a his second tree by himself was a den. That cost him the win. This cast made six split trees and the cast winner only had 275 plus. All four dogs were with in 100 points of each other.
Zeb III Again was the cast winner and he won the final four also.
We had a blast and want to thank Paul and Tim Vaughn for comming out with us on the hunt and showing their support.
Now we put the heat on young dogs getting ready for kill season that is less then a month away.
We have Hannas littermate sister and three young dogs out of Smoke that will consume our time this winter getting them ready for the hunts next spring.

Took Hanna again last night by herself. Ran four tracks and treed two coons we seen. The other two tracks were, one in a corn field which she did not get going good enough to tree and the other made it to a clear cut. She struggled with the last one, hit up on a few trees but never settled in, at least not a slick treeing idiot! Would like to thank Larry for taking us to his Kentucky honey holes. Hanna is just coming 9 months old.

Took Hanna again tonight by herself (9) months old. Made two trees and seen a coon on one tree. The other tree had two coons but she was off by a few trees, too many tracks and she hit up on a few trees but got the wrong one. One track about 320 yards and treed and the other was about 175 yards. Running and treeing will not be her down fall. Got a video but have to get it to load, was running a little slow.

Roy hope old Wendy is getting along O.K.. A bushel basket of pups would be nice but any will be more than welcomed. Have another female lined up for sometime around Jan. so hoping to have a few good young ones running around next summer / fall!

Wendy is starting to show milk and is just 10 days away from whelping. Cant say that she will have a basket full but she is for sure pregnant with some Jet V babies.
Got her all setteled in the whelpping barn and ready.
Marvin Kemp called and is bringing May to visit Smoke. This will be a great cross heavy Rambo and Ucthman breeding with Mad Dog and Smokey River on the top.
Ill get the ped from Marvin or have him put it on here. Marvin said most of them he is going to start himself befor he sells any to make sure they get started and in the right hands.
Travis said MissFire had seven pups 4 males and 3 females. Those will be some heavy hitters.
Im back to work and putting in 10 hour days seven days a week again. But I saved some vacation time that I will use when kill season gets here. Kansas season opens Nov. 12th so its not that far away. Had our first real freeze last night. Got down to 26 deg. Need a few more of them and the trees will drop all their leaves.

Roy our first night of 2014 coons season went pretty good. Jerry and Corey went with me and we took Riptide, Hanna and Blaze. First dump and first picture was about 550 yards in a few minutes treed, trees all blown over together and did not find it. Second dump struck at about 150 yards and drove a hot track about 400 plus yards and Hanna and Riptide split treed. Tide Hanna up and went and shinned Riptides treed, had a den and Hanna had a coon on her tree about 40 yards up the hill, nice job for a 9 month old pup. Hanna likes to be right and is picking the trees pretty good so far. Third dump they hit and ran about 250 yards and treed a big oak with the meat again. Popped one coon out to mess with Blaze and that was it for the night. Hate to kill all those $1.00 coons! LOL! Oh I'm sure Jerry thinks they go a little to hard for his likings, right Jerry?

Mark and Corey, Sounds like you had a fun filled night. I sure do like the pics.
Hanna looks to be ready to single out. She will be ready for the hunts after kill season. Keep me updated on her progress.

Our season is closed till this comming Wensday. Im still working 7/10s but should be able to get some good hunts in by midnight each night.
We have some awsome pups that we will be pounding this kill season. We will knock a few out the first night or two but the pups will have to earn their reward.

We went and hunted the Government land tonight out by the lakes and see an old friend Don Gill. He had a young man with and I think his name was Taylor. Don hunts some pretty good cur dogs and they were heading out for a wet hunt also. Our first dump it was raining pretty hard and only managed to run a track about 250 yards to a big old den tree. By our next dump it had stopped raining, Hanna rolled in there and treed real nice and had the meat on an oak tree, not one track bark Roy, going to be still mouth! LOL! The first picture is the tree and the second picture is the end result. For 9 months old she is very accurate and a nice tree dog, just has to get her hunt up by herself but since she is not lazy so I think that will come with some age.

Hanna

Hanna is making a nice little hound. At 9 months old Id say she is doing great. Doubt if there will be much of the hanging around the way she is bred. The same blood that makes her tree like she does will make her a kick dirt in your face alone or with company befor long.

Our season opens tonight so the fun begins.

Roy I'm sure her hunt will pick up a little later as she is always on the move and not lazy at all. I thought that the little Rugar male we hunted was pretty accurate for a pup but let me tell you Hanna has had a den to coon on about every tree. She opens real good on track that is moving and has rolled up and treed a few without one bark, oak trees so I can live with that. She does not mill the tree and is very straight up ad down on the tree when treeing, no jumping, jaw jacking or any other stupid stuff. Hope you and Timmy has a good hunt tonight, give them hell with those young hounds!

Roy first picture is Hanna treed on a slanted tree out over the river. Second picture was her tree after crossing a swamp and knocking it down. She crossed a very deep creek with banks straight up and down and then across this swamp. To date it was the best job on treeing a coon yet, had a little ice / snow but still cold! She just turned 10 months old this week. Would love to see a picture of the litter mate bitch you have!

Bill, we will see you this weekend and hope we can get in some huntin.

Mark, sounds like Hanna might be gettin out there a little ways now. She might have run into some yotes if she came back to you in a matter of minutes. As little as she is she might not be that brave to stick it out with them comming around her.LOL
I hunted her sister Roxie and she has a ways to go yet to catch up to Hanna. Took Roxie a couple of times this past week and she barked on her first track friday night. She went a ways with Robin and then hit on her own. She worked a track up and down a little creek and started baying. I got to her and she was barking up in a downed tree top that was hollow. No body home but she thought there was. Not bad for her fouth time out.
We been hunting the four pups out of Smoke X BlueBerrie and all four are starting to put it together. Timmy hunted Deal and Dee and I hunted Ralph. Got a kid hunting Credit right now.
Weather turned warmmer and the coon have been moving good. Tonight it all changed and it has dropped 30deg and rainy with high winds.

Roy we took Riptide and Hanna both tonight and the first dump they got in there right a mile and circled back around and finally treed a den tree. Next dump they got in there about 8 tenths of a mile and treed along a big creek and had the meat. Had to walk into them right at 600 yards but it was worth it, mud and all. Roy when we make the trip out your way in the near future we are going to bring Hanna with us. Hanna looked pretty darn good tonight, tightened up on the track since we have been hunting her by herself, almost there!
