Great Northern Beans......

3 garlic cloves
1 stick celery
1 small carrot
1 small onion
(all the above chopped)
1 lb of dry Great Northerns
(put them in pot of water, bring to boil, turn off and let set an hour or so, then put them in the crockpot))
1 Qt Swanson Cooking Stock, chicken
2 cups hot water
1 tbsn coarse ground black pepper
1 tbspn Better than Bullion Chicken
2 lbs pulled smoked pork butt
1 tps sea salt or to taste
(I put my salt in at the end)

Into the crockpot till this evening. Cook up some thin cornbread in the skillet and we be ready.

Hi All!

Winds are a HOWLING away here...have been all day. I love how it sounds right now with the front door open and the noise coming in the screen door. Till the rains come... it sounds like the FL Keys in the summer with the overnight winds blowing in the windows... Just need to hear the waves breaking on the shore and the big flat rock on our old beach............

Rain IS now starting to thump on the darned ac...LOL... go figure! Supposed to be some wild weather, warnings in OTHER parts of the state etc....
LOVE those pix Wendell! That is gorgeous land...but it makes me DIZZY! LOL... I'd be FINE going up...and would cry like a baby if I turned around and looked DOWNHILL!

Story of last night

Wendell: Linkous the rain is over lets go turn loose

David: Okay i will get my stuff on and get ready

Wendell: Meet me down at the Williams hollar

David: Okay hope the creek aint up to much (you have to cross it seven times in a vehicle where we hunt there)

45 minutes later we meet and turn loose and the sky opened up, we did tree a coon but was soaking wet

Moral of the story...never listen to Bond!

headed to Fredericksburg Va its a 4 hour trip there, to work the next couple of days so no hunting for me for the next few days

maybe without WB i can stay out of trouble...or not

John thats my kind of weather...still working on getting up there with you and turning loose once your season comes in
