Thanks everyone. Dragon does deserve his Night Champion title. He's a good coon dog.
I worked Julia on a caged coon and she blew up. When it all said and done she was nose-to-nose grabbing the cage and screaming at the bandit. It was a good training session on the second coon she has ever seen in her life. The first is when she was 3 months old. I was very impressed. But kind of expected it. Now time will tell. Seasons right around the corner.
Snake and Julia go way to deep together so I have to separate them. Once they figure out what they are doing it's going to be fun. Right now they just go go go. At least they are not running junk. Lot's of hours waiting on them to come back.

I'm sure Justin would be happy to take you to the woods with Dragon.
I've got two young dogs to figure out how to get them going correctly when I can't walk. I will find a way. They have the tools.
Hope everyone has a safe hunting season and please respect the deer hunters if all possible.

Friends are much better than enemies.

In training Snake and Julia

It's very difficult to train young dogs when you can't walk in the woods. I do what I can to try to get them on the right track.
together they hunt up to 1.5 miles before deciding to come in 2.5 hours later. I will figure all this out and it will take me some time but I'm a person that refuses to give up my hounds and hunting. I may never be able to compete again but one thing for sure there will be good coondogs on the ends of my chains even if they have t sit.

It was plenty ice on the ground as well. Justin sure love hunting this dog for me.
Dragon trees coons in any weather and that is the type of dogs I always want to promote.
I hope people give him a chance in the stud pen and see if he can produce early starting, good mouth, accurate dogs that go hunting and not afraid to tree a bad track and layup coons. Time will tell

Just dog work . Julia and Snake

It is very challenging for me to try and train a dog on my own let alone two at the same time. Together they go hard. It's nothing for them to cover a 1.7 mile hike or more. They are coon crazy.
My balance is no good and not being able to pick up my left foot is almost more than I can bare.
I'm not sure what I will do if they get treed a mile in the woods. I guess sit in the truck and wait them out.
Right now I have resorted to other methods to get them to get treed and they are exploding on the wood. Time will tell. I like them both.

Hunted with Earl with Kandy and Snake. Kandy did excellent and Snake wanted to be a stud dog. Urrr. He has all the tools if he gets his mind right.
Julia is visiting Magic so I will cross my fingers if it happens. He is 13 in January

Trying to hunt by myself is tough. I took Snake alone. I went to the Overton Bottoms hoping to find a coon cross. No go. He went 500 yards looking but no go. He went 400 the other direction and nothing.
I went down the level just 40 yards and left leg just gave out and I fell. It did scare me some.
I loaded Snake and went to another spot he traveled 800 yard but still not saying nothing. He came in so I loaded him up and went home.
I'm determined to get these dogs going it's just going to take time. Snake hasn't had a coon shot out to him yet and season has been in since Nov 15. Oh well patients I have plenty of. Time well tell.
The weather is awesome right now. Half moon lite nights. I love just being out with my own thoughts and dogs.
I see a Dr at Barnes Hospital in St Louis so maybe they can give me answers since Mayo Clinic couldn't.
Justin is enjoying hunting Dragon for me and I like that he is getting hunted.
I still have high hopes in getting Julia bred to Magic but time will tell on that.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR ELMO! Be careful out there in the woods. The Doctors tell me and you both to stay home and don't be falling but Coon Hunting is something we just don't want to do without. I understand for sure. Take Care of yourself and enjoy those hounds as much as you can.

Snake's mouth has come full circle. At first I wasn't sure I would be pleased with what he sounded like. Now a very nice good clear bawl mouth that makes me smile a little.
I hope this is a great start to the new year for him and Julia.

I'm hoping this will be the year of The Dragon and Snake. We going to push Dragon in PKC as well as UKC and see what happens. Justin is loving hunting him in the tough conditions and he producing coons. Layups, feed tracks and rutting boars.
Justin is happy to take anyone for a hunt who wishes to maybe consider him in their breeding program.

I saw a huge boar raccoon this morning. Rut is in full swing and the deep snow isn't going to stop them from breeding.

Cold, wet, slick and snow. Urrr. I want so bad to hear a good rut race with some young dogs. I guess Feb. will be full rut for most coons I'm guessing.

Turned loose last night

I just took the young dogs. Snake and Julia. They sure went hunting or something I guess. They ended up 2.5 miles from the truck. If these two get it right hunting will not be the issue. So far no trash problems at all. But no coon either. I haven't had them out since Jan 2, 2019 so it isn't the dogs. They both hate a coon that is for sure.

Justin is going to try to get Dragon qualified and continue to hunt him in PKC hunts as well. He is really enjoying taking a coondog to the woods.

Hopefully maybe this year we can get a female or two backed up to him if not oh well.

Sure glad to see someone is enjoying hunting dragon. I enjoyed every second of the season I hunted him. I can say a lot of good things about him but there's only two words that comes to my mind. COON DOG!!! He can go big places and is deffiantly stud dog material. I hunted that dog on nights that people thought I was crazy for even stepping outside and he proved to me he's a COON dog. He can tree coon on them very cold frosty moonlit nights just as nice as the good nights. I was never a Bluetick guy till I came across Elmo and my buddy bought a pup out of magic and Maggie. That would be Mystic. Only got to hunt mystic and dragon together 2 times and both times they were split treeing coon. They worked us out. I'm eager for some pups out of dragon or mystic. I'm ready to own one.

I don't think my health is going to allow me to hunt.

I may just be a truck man and promoter. I may have to sell a dog or two. Just not sure and I really don't want to give this lifetime of what I love up. I hate not being able to hunt and train my own dogs. I just don't know.
BBCHA did a nice job with the bluebook this year.
