hunting

I have not been hunting quite as much as I was. Just can't take the warm weather like I use to. But still getting out about three nights a week.

Took Doc by himself on Sunday night and made three trees and saw coon on two of them.

Tuesday night I took Doc and Hoss made four trees and saw caoon in two of them.

Had pretty good hunts both nights. going to try and get out tonight for a short hunt and see what we can do. RT

Thanks everyone. I always enjoy AO'S and it always makes it a little better when you can do a little winning while you are there.

Doc was really close to getting in the final four and I would have sure liked his chances it we could have made it.

On Friday night we were down 25 when we made our last drop with 12 minutes to go. Doc got 1st and 1st with the coon seen to close the deal.

On Saturday night we hunted the 90 minutes all in one drop. With less than 10 minutes to go the scores were WM 300+, WF 150+ and Doc with 200+ (2nd S 1st T). Doc had first strike and worked away from the other dogs probably getting close to half a mile when I heard the big locate and put him on the paper. On the way to Doc's tree the WF was called treed the opposite direction. Time runs out in the hunt. If we see Doc's coon he wins. If we don't see Doc's and see the WF coon she wins. If we don't see either one the WM wins. Doc was treed up a tree with a lot of thick under growth and we just couldn't find it. The WF was on the edge of a corn field and we found her coon pretty quick giving her the cast win.
The cast members judge and guide were all real sportsman and were great to hunt with. They all tried really hard to find Doc's coon it just wasn't to be.

The young man it the photo with me is Brad Beck. Brad took Doc to his house and put in a hard month getting Doc ready for AO'S for us. He is one of the best young men I know and I am looking forward to Brad "hopefully" becoming a bigger part of what we do in the future.

A special thanks goes out to my new best friend Terry Lundsford who was our guide on Friday night.

It was good to see a lot of the old friends and make a few new ones this weekend. Thanks again. Ron

I have had several request for Doc pups in the last few weeks. Because of the time and attention it takes to raise pups I am not planning on raising any pups myself in the near future.
