West union
Yes I have hunted a few places down there and blue creek and the killer peach mountain 1 time that's was no fun in there lol.. I am from up in kenton ,ohio Flat land... Just I am down in west union on most weekends ..
10-4 I got family and friends out that way.I hunt it 2 or 3 times a year.Had a real nice huntin spot on Brush Creek till that tornado came through 2 years ago.It leveled bout 50 acres of good timber.I still hunt it but not as good.Theres been a few coons that were shot out that rolled 60 yards downhill before they stopped.Ive rode quads all over that country from Dunkinsville to Rome and Manchester.Awesome place to ride.
Dang you guys disappointed me today. I expected to see lots of pics from coon slayed last night. I hope to get after them tonight.

I had a bad night Lastnight.Left my old dog at home.Pup decided to roll in a pile of deer guts on first drop.Second drop had leg holed traps set with a fox in it.Not even 100 yards from the pull off.3 drop treed one coon.I must have been lacking in dog power cause coon should've been everywhere. Not sure if my tired legs can handle another night. Goodluck tonight
Last night
Well I dropped 3 times ran decent tracks ended on dens .. So 3 dens no coon and yes I thought would get something on outside , but I didn't stay out long..lot hunting pressure need to hunt like 2 am. Maybe
Had a nice hunt tonight wish I could have stayed out longer. Cut Bell 4 times and she treed 3 coon and a slick. Cut Ike 4 times and he treed 3 coon and caught a 3 legged coon on the ground.

Shawnee Forest,I hunt it very hard in the winter, good place to make a coon dog out of one.Its nothing for a dog to go a mile to strike and there are plenty of deer and fox with very few coon.

Looks good John.

thursday
Went to the bigger hollows thursday night, cut loose at about 6:30 and treed 5 times in 2 and half hours, thats not bad considering where I was hunting. Roxy did her part and put an end to what she opened on even though she did not come across anything that sounded too exciting. Hollows are funny, you have to walk around things to get where you need to go. At one time I walked half mile in 30 minutes to get to her and was only 200 yards from where I was 30 minutes before, just across the hollow. I love going in places like that just to see if she can handle all the stuff that go along with that kind of terrain. The dead falls are the things I worry about the most but they will learn how to handle those if you put them in there enough. I shot some coon, got pretty wet, my knees were sore from the 11 hour work day and my hunt, but what a great time I had. Happy hunting!
Coon seemed to be moving some last few nights. We've been treeing about all dens. Gettin that time of year for a lot of dens
Mail Box
Tree_Reddg 47,I tried to PM you but it says your PM Box is full

Hunted last night around Salem Ohio and treed 3 dens, 1 empty I think it was anyway, and 4 singles. It was cold and breezy but the young dog looked pretty good. Have seen 54 so far in 17 nights out.

Well it looks like it is going to be tough going for awhile around Ohio and surrounding states. It will be a good time to take your hound out to see what they might do when they are not able to strike all those easy wood lot coon like the ones Vic jokes about.
Sometimes its not always fun to go out but to finish a hound out it may take nights like these to steer us in the right direction on what our dogs might be up to. Mine are not perfect and the snowy clear nights can help to understand some of those off barks we hear on occasion. I have been out and back from a one drop hunt in a nice section, no tracks, no trees, no barks, just a lot of hustle from Roxy. Picked her up on the other side of the block 45 minutes later. Tonight was a good hunt for what it was intended! Ron
Treed 5 tonight. Snow was bout 6 inches deep and dogs feet were bleeding.Coon were few and far between.Snow is startin to fall so I'm headin to the house.
Dec 14
Anyone gonna hit the woods tonight , wet snow.. I thinkin about it
