i am all for the countdown and i to want a dog that is independent. Someone else already put it on here but to me an independent dog is one that will take his track and tree it regardless of what others are doing but if he dont have his own he should have enough sence to pack in with other dogs. I have been beat by me tooing dogs before as well but i lost most of those casts because of a bad call on my part . I hunt my dogs alone during the week so that they never have to depend on another dog to tree a coon but if they werent working there own track and do pack in during a hunt does that make them a me tooer i dont believe so but that is just my opinion.

I know UKC has the performance program, and I think that is a step in the right direction, but having a state run off at the end of the year with the dogs with the most money won would be nice too. That would give you something to shoot for throughout the year, trying to make the top 16 or what ever the cut off would be. Just a thought, would be better to say "I have had one of the top 16 dogs in the state for a whole year and a chance for the title of State Champion", instead of saying" I had the best dog in the state Friday and Saturday night", I. As for the rule change I say "Change them, we will adjust".

The Ukc die hards will not go for a money hunt. You can count on that. We can't even get a tree countdown lol.

Everyone wants to increase participation, let the kids and begginers shine so they feel somewhat part of the hunt.

The problem with the countdown is that not all trees are plussed. A dog that covers a minus tree should get his 75- even if he got there after 4 minutes. Allowing that dog to get off with 25- is worse in my opinion than letting a late comer get 75+. Most of you guys' concern could be eliminated by doing something about the babblers and leaving the tree points as is.

"BIG NASTY"
i see in alot of hunts that alot of the dogs in the hunts are hot noise dogs, the kind that people dont hunt in the winter when the weather is not grate i am not talking about dogs that are track stradler but dogs that can move a bad track. i my self like a good balanced hound that hunts when you turn it losse and not one that run a mile to be a lone that is not a coondog .
i win my share or place in hunts. i dont want U.KC. to tune in to P.kC. because in P.K.C. the dog that babblies in there 20 to 30yd wins most of the hunts because all the dogs get spilt treed and that uses all of your hunt time.

I understand how in some situations you may not want a spectator to shine, like an adult and his spectator buddy has a 5 million candlepower spot light strapped to his side at a zone hunt. That is the beauty of this rule change proposal. It says as long as all cast members agree. If one guy doesn't want spectators shining then they can't. It leaves it up to the discretion of the cast. So the next time an eight year old kid is tagging along with dad with his kitten cooner on a local club hunt he can be allowed to shine, no big deal, like it should be. Any of you who are so against this have the option to deny spectators from shining. Seems pretty simple to me.
I always thought that compeating in a hunt with a dog that dominated the whole night was what this sport is all about. In my opinion getting off by them selfs is not competing but one who can get the majority of the honest first strike & first tree is one that was able to dominate & come in with a big score & win the big ones. The ones who get by them selves can run a track as slow as they wish & take all night to get treed cause they have no comp. Not my type of dog sorry just my opinion
