Hi,

Thanks for putting that pic of Spanky up. She is my baby. Thanks for putting pics on for me. I am not computer literate and have no desire to be at my age.

Mike and Jeff have a female, Gr. Ch. Starke's Finley River Lou. She sure is a nice female that can get the job done in style. She has been getting the job done since she was a puppy. I hope we can get her bred to Zig this year. I definitely want one of those pups.

Jason, Spanky is out of a dog called KK. She was a dog owned by Mike Umphrey at one time. Her sire was Tember. A dog owned by WC Kimbrell. Buck and I hunted quite often. Mike and I hunt quite often. Mike has a nice male dog out of my Lill female who passed away last summer. I miss her everyday. She was a coondog. Mike's dog is reproducing and should be advertised.

Spanky is a granddaughter of Wild Casey and a great grandaughter of Wild Casey. She also has Hillbilly Mack, Jr. twice, Leach's Sandy, who won Walker Days and was never in a hunt that had less than 80 dogs in it, and Hillbilly Mack twice. These dogs all go back to the "Source", Finley River Chief, the cornerstone of the Treeing Walker breed. I' ll try to get her pedigree on here.

Mr. Starke, Hi, this is Marty Palmer, over here in Okla. Could you give me the age of your Zig dog.and if he has covered any outside females, if so could you give me names and phone #'s of the owners. How old are his oldest pups now. He's a nice looking dog for sure. I'm always looking for my next stud dog. I've enjoyed reading your post,and looking at all the pics. I owned a grandson to Chief, back in the 70's, that taught me how to coonhunt. 30 years later he is still my yardstick. Do you put any guarantee on the pups you sell.

After talking with you the other day, I found Ramblin Janes Brother..And even more exciting, my female out of Brookshiers Finley River Driver just started bleeding so I will be breeding her to him very shortly...And you was absolutely right He is the real deal, at 9yrs old still has a huge,huge mouth,heads up drifting style of dog, unbelievably fast moving a track, and a huge screaming bawl mouth track dog...He has it all!....

Hi,

Glad you found him. True characteristics of Rambler dogs. Same characteristics of the first cross in his pedigree Trap and Lipper. They would run and tree just like you described. Slick, Rattler, Rambo, Rock, Doll, and Pet were: Loud , Screaming, Hard, Radical Treedogs. Fast, driving, run to catch, with unbelieveable track speed. People always complaining they were running trash until their hounds finally opened as much as a half mile behind and end up at the same tree. They would absolutely destroy a cast of dogs. You had them scattered out over half a county. People hated to draw them. Never did see a deer in the tree, lol.

People just couldn't believe they were that fast. Tom Wilbers and I had those type dogs for years. Rambler was probably the best kept secret in the coondog world.

Good luck with that cross. My experience with that cross tells me you cannot beat Finley River crossed on Lipper. Rambler and his pups testify to that statement.

PS As I have said before, Ramblin' Jane can have a coon treed a half mile away , before I can get my light and boots on and she is 9 years old. She is a half sister to Lill. Hunting those two dogs together was a blast. Never ran the same track and never treed the same coon. Like having two seperate hunts at the same time.

You've got a place to stay in Pa. If your out this way, home cooked meals, place for your dogs, Good company,(. The dogs) hahaha..and we'll leave the light on for ya!

Rambler died Thursday. The passing of a true legend of the Treeing Walker breed. Rest in peace, Ole Rambler.

Hi,

You are going about it the right way. Niece to uncle. That cross top and bottom will only yeild one individual's traits or the other. No other option. If you want to focus on the female line, the female you want the characteristics from to dominate the cross needs to be #6 and #10.

This has worked for me for years. I am almost to the point where I can breed half brother to half sister by using neice to uncle top and bottom if the traits I want are present.

Future crosses

Hi,

Best of luck to you. I hope it works out. Your pup out of Ramblin Jane x Zig crossed on Whiner and my pup out of the same crosses bred together may get us another Rattler, Ol Factory, or Rambler. Time will tell.

Rolling Hills Jane is linebred Rolling Hills Dan. Bill Mick owned both Dan and his littermate, World Ch. Gr. Nt. Ch. House's Tom Tom. Dan was not a wired up dog like Tom Tom. He was levelheaded. Rolling Hills Tinker 2 was also linebred into this cross. She was a daughter of World Ch. Dual Gr. Ch. Red Eagle Dick. Dick was a son of Gr. Nt. Ch. Finley River Dan. He was a grandson of World Ch. Gr. Nt. Ch. Vance's Crowding Billy. See where the outstanding track dogs come from? Cross them on Rambler dogs and get in shape.

Don't sell Track Man short. He goes back to Gr. Nt. Ch. Finley River Dan several times. He has Finley River Chief numerous times. He puts huge mouths on his pups and a one bark locate. They have the Finley River look. Leave in the good, breed out the bad.
