You are correct the W/C that we were use to is OVER. Now we must move on those show people have made great strides in improving the conditions, I only hope the hunters understand what great strides have been made sence the last W/C. As we trot around the ring with them show dogs I know we will feel a lot better with the new set up. Latter my friend see you in Ms.

I am both grateful and pleased you chose Batesville to hold this event. I retired down here about 15 minutes from Batesville and absolutely love the town and the community. It is a family friendly town with lots to offer at all venues.
I am sure Albany is dissappointed as I would be if it ever leaves here.
I can assure all who attend you will not find any better facilities and a town that is without a doubt ready for such an event.
It is beautiful and quaint and only 60 miles from Memphis if you want to site see and 20 minutes from Oxford, Ms. the home of Ole Miss. It too is a beautiful town. Grenada is another super nice place only 30 min. away. So there are plenty of rooms in all four directions from town.
There are 3 major lakes within 30 minutes with camping facilities second to non. If I can help coordinate your trip or help with any information, please pm me and I will assist you as best as I can. One of the major lakes is 10 minutes away. Enid lake.
There is some great coonhunting as well. Both hills and delta bottoms. Some very great clubs as well. I show and attend all of them and they are all well run and have very nice folks running them.
You will enjoy your time and hunting.
Thanks UKC and welcome all to Batesville, Ms. home of the 2013
UKC Winter Classic.
Rick Stevenson
Enid, Ms.
p.s. better break them top hounds from deer and dillers before you come. We gots lots of both!!!

After reading these comments, it sounds like everyone in Georgia is mad about the Winter Classic moving to Mississippi and saying they won't come to anymore. But with the Winter classic moving it will be gaining a lot more people that were too far from Georgia. I am in Texas and I will definately be going now. The folks in Georgia will still be closer, so they should quit complaining. I liked it in Albany, but I am very happy that the Winter classic is moving to Mississippi.

Motels
Econo Lodge is the only hotel that didnt up there rates. Every one else up them from $23 to $36 a night above there norma rates. These isnt right!!!
A lot of hotels up there rates when they know there going to fill up for a major event no matter what the event is it is business. Supply and demand what you talk about 1st thing in any business. Saying don't go to the hotels is like telling people not to buy gas there going to buy what they want(demand) you can do what you want but don't think you are going to hrut the hotels.
There are many other cities around Batesville that would be alternative motel sites (plus a lot of camp grounds around the lakes). There is Oxford to the East, and Sentatobia, Hernando, Horn Lake / Southaven, on the way to Memphis. Memphis is a 45min. to 1 hour drive. So, everyone should be able to find places to sleep (not that you will sleep much anyway).
I think all major events should be moved from time to time. In the long run, that improves the event and the participation. I plan to be in Batesville in January. And the weather here is nice (unless one of the rare 10 year snows happen to take place that particular time - even then, it is always melts in one day).
Happy Hunting!

hey einstiens, did yall ever stop to think that folks from georiga support other events in far away places like autumn oak and the breed days? its not a matter of not supporting the hunts, its a matter we didnt want our hunt that we put alot of effort putting on for 25 years taken away.
