WE ALL HAVE OUR OPINOINS, MINE IS SIMPLE, BREED GOOD DOGS WITH GOOD DOGS, MAKE GOOD PUPS. STOP BREEDING CRAP WITH TRASH AND SALING THEM TO MAKE MONEY. HOW HARD IS THAT??? IM SAYING THIS IF EVERYBODY CAME TOGETHER
AND STOOD UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT BREEDING WISE, THINGS COULD CHANGE AND MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE ACTIVE WITH COONHOUNDS, IF A GUY GOES COONHUNTING AND LIKES IT,THEN THINKS TO HIMSELF MAN ID LIKE TO HAVE MY OWN PUP TO RAISE UP TRAIN,THEN BUYS ONE,SOME GREEDY PUPPY MILL OWNER HAS FOR SALE. WE ALL WANT TO PRESERVE THE TRADITION,AND PASS IT ON RIGHT?
THEN LETS ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO BREED FOR QAULITY INSTEAD OF QAUNITY. STAND UP FOR WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR FUTURE.
AND WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE WANTING GOOD PUPS.
AND AS FAR AS THEM LIBERALS GO THEY CAN ALL BITE MY ////

I have recently bought 2 pups over 1000 miles apart,differant breeds, didn't know either one of the people I bought them from, never hunted with any parents and both pup are doing exceptionaly good. If they have a lot of respect from others on this board and there well papered there is a good chance they are good prospects and that is all you can ask for out of a pup. Oh and you couldn't ask for nicer people to deal with......

how many pup do you think are naturals i can say for sure i have only seen a few most are born with a natural desire to hunt but don't have a clue what there supposed to hunt i have only seen what you can count on one hand that wouldn't hunt some type of animal however with there bred in hunting desire it up to the trainer to TRAIN INTO THEM the proper animal you want them to hunt. i would like to hear your defintion of a natural born hunting dog.
your knocking breeders for the lack of these natural hounds how much do you think is due to the trainer all a breeder can do is to breed a desire and ability into an animal they can't be responsible for the way the dog was trained or the lack of training.
i have raised many labs over the last fourty years have only seen one that wouldn't go into the water have never seen one that wouldn't retrive something. that would make them natural retrievers but that doesn't make them game retrievers.

trainer has alot to do with the hound, all im saying is people arent taking the time to do selective breding and people are getting pups off these dogs and there just not turning out to be coon dogs, and its killing the sport. i want my kids and grand kids to like hunting dogs, not grow up seeing trash bred dogs and want to quit cause some guy wanted to get his 100pups or make
money off of a liter. ITS SIMPLE, people who say preserve nature and help the trdition of coonhunting, and better the breed standards and all this diffrent stuff. should be the ones who want to take a stand against people breeding coil dogs and trash running, half a//-s dogs. i just wonder how many real houndsmen are left out there? i mean houndsmen.

We've circled this for to long already. I pleasure hunt, and have no interest in comp. hunting. So I don't need the perfect dog, and don't expect it. My dogs might have me a possum on occasion- they don't make a habit out of it, I don't care atleast they treed something. I personally have two by god naturals right now. One is a coon dog, one is a squirrel dog. The coon dog seen one hide for maybe 5 minutes and has hunted independantly ever since. The squirrel dog just picked it up with no training at all, and is deadly.

You can blame the trainer/ owner... I don't care. I blame the breeder. It obvious we don't see eye to eye. A good pup is hard to come by bottom line, and that's on the breeder imo. You can have good papers galore, but that don't mean spit in the woods. Will be waiting on the snide comments on the possum, but atleast I tell the truth. I'm tired of debating, have a good day sir.

thank you for that post, that just goes to show if a dog is bred right it will do right, no matter if it is all grand or pleasure, natural dogs that train easy and start easy have been bred to do so.

one of my biggest pet peaves is when someone has a female that is absolutely worthless and was just plain and simply a "DUD" and they say, OH WELL< IT has good blood , let me take and breed it to SO and SO in the Magazine. or breed it to my male dog so i can get a pup off him, yada yada

Or they give the dog away to a kid and it does nothing but discourage him and it gets bred by his buddies dog, which was also given to him and is worthless. AND ITS JUST A CHAIN REACTION!!!!!!!

If someone is going to geve it away and doesnt want to shoot it, at least get it spayed or neutered before you give it away

$ 100.00 pup would be my first clue that they might not be the best around. Don't care how well a dog is bred if you don't know what to do with it chances are it won't be worth a darn. That is why most people only have one really good one in there life. I have trained a bitch that I could had sold every pup out of her and all her litter mates wound up in the pound.
Blood helps but handleing is bottom line...............

I have a Son X Sassy blue pup and a Extreme Insane X----------Miss M.......... walker pup. .....couldn't ask for better pups or people to deal with........There are you 2 links to good pups........now no need to blame a breeder......but if you judge people or dogs by there collor you will always have hate in your hear and NEVER BE HAPPY.........chear up let a little love in.....( :

Maybe we don't drop it becouse we don't care what PETA or anyone else thinks. We have went the silent way for years. The more you hide things the softer these people get. If it was left up to me they would have to watch or butcher there own beaf. There would be a picture of a dead cow on hamburger. I for one anit going to hide behind a bush..........I kill things that need it and I am not going to be afraid of people that don't beleive in guns. Becouse I have a few...........come try to get them.......Might be that we aren't stupid,, just put up with there crap till we are tired of it......... don't care what laws are passed........don't want to talk about it or worrie about it till they try to do something about it........... then all hell will break loose......... most military around here will fight on our side if it comes to that.......untill then I am not tipy toeing around a bunch of cry babies that will disapear if we quit doing there killing for them...........So no offence but if you want to hide get a bush............

Watch what you say because I agree with Okie Dawg, from your last comment, you aren't worthy to use the term houndsman or coonhunter. You are what gives all of us a bad name.
