I can understand the complaining about smoking inside..but...outside,,,com'on,,,get real,,think...FOR ONCE...
Non-smokers whom have never lit-up are one thing to deal with, however, these people who were once smokers and now have chose to give-up their habit for whatever reason are the most arrogant breed of the human species. Both types will hold hands like flower-children from the 60's,swapping slobbers, infringing on an individuals right to light-up in the wide-open under gods blue sky.The polititians of the world listen to the group who screams the loudest...these two type of people are one in the same. They both enjoy the benefits of the tax dollars generated by the tobacco industry and yet this is just another example of the hypocracy of our democracy....maybe I need to start a movement to tax churches...a tax collector standing at the door of each and every little building said to be a house of the lord....10 bucks per head on every visit should be a fair price even a small price to live happily ever-after.....

Non-Smokers who complain and advocate taking away an individuals right to light-up under gods sky are communist!!

I feel better now..going out-side for a smoke...lol

Sorry I spent 22 years giving folks the right to say and do what ever they wanted per our Constitution and Laws to be forced to do something the MINORITY wants all the rest of us to follow.

I've seen all the Anti Smokers here in Illinois raising cain to get smoking out of the bars, resturants and they don't even go to them, and now they are failing and closing faster then anything I've seen.

There were "Non-Smoking places" but that was not good enough for them...they wanted all of the places to be non-smoking and to FORCE their WILL onto others...just like the Anit-Hunters, Peta, and the HSUS !!!

Well I watch were I smoke, field strip my smokes, throw the butts in the trash and if my money is not good enough along with my habits then count me OUT..simple and its my way of protesting against the Minority few and for my rights as an American !!!

See you at another hunt down the road !!

Very well put!! People, what a lot of us fail to realize is this is NOT a smokers vs anti-smokers issue!! Until we all realize this and other laws, bans, and minority special interest groups politically correct jargon is simply this.. Another one of our civil rights as Americans taken away, we will continue down this road until we can no longer do Anything that another person finds offensive. Which includes hunting, and simply owning, our dogs. Don't make a big issue out of it?? Just let it slide?? That's how we got where we are in the first place. If we don't start making a stand now then when??

I don't care if someone wants to smoke. Not my business if you want to kill yourself slowly. What I do care about is getting burned by peoples cigarettes OUTSIDE. People don't cup their smokes when they walk around...I've got a couple nasty scars from being burned by cigarettes.

I have friends that smoke but they know they're not allowed to smoke in my car, in my house OR on my property.

You don't like the new no smoking at Autumn Oaks...don't go. If you're gonna be that petty and childish then don't go.

Sorry guys. No sympathy from me. Never smoked. Never understood it.
Wisconsin's state wide ban goes into effect July 5th.
For the people that say they'll fire up there anyway. Think about the economy. All states, counties and local municipalites need money. They'll be writing tickets left and right.
Anybody know how much of a fine it is there?

The fine/cost is that a large group of people loose their right pursue happiness as they choose.
Pursuit of happiness, We were guaranteed that somewhere. Must have been on some old document written by some old guy's a long time ago. I guess those guys must not have known much, All they did was build a nation on the concepts of FREEDOM. Nothing like the life long bureaucrats we have today.

You don't always have the option of walking away! I still have no problem with outdoors smoking, and do understand that there are many other toxic chemicals in the air that we breath, which I have no control of. And when I can walk away from smoke, whether from a campfire or cigarette, I do. I understand that our government has and continues to take many of our rights away, but this is a health issue and an issue that many of us agree with, not because I am better than anyone else, but because it makes me phisically sick, and I watched my father die from COPD and Emphsema. He was a chain smoker and I inhailed his smoke. I do not want to anger anyone and still feel that outdoor smoking away from crouded areas is o.k.

Hmm

I am curious what would the non smokers say if these roles were reversed, If you were required by law to smoke when in a bar or when attending a out door event. Would any of you agree that your rights were not being taken away ?

haha this is the funniest post i have ever seen, everyone continues talking about how the smoke will bother them, its outside for goodness sake, i would say the logical explination behind enforcing this rule would be all of the **** ciggarette buts that everyone will throw on the ground and trash the place. if you smoke and dont like the rule, hear is an idea don't come

I still have the right to attend or not to. If they were reversed. I'd just stay home.
I love the posts about how us non smokers are the minority. If that's the case, that makes you the smokers the majority. So you have nobody to blame but yourselves for passing the smoking bans. You voted for them... JMO

Sorry but this is not a "health" issue. Smoking outside is NOT a health hazzard for anyone except the smoker.

Second hand smoke is greatly, greatly exaggerated. The last study I saw had them try and see how the spouses of smokers fared. There was NO increase in cancer/lung diseases in the spouse of smokers than in non smokers of the same age. Whoops, not the conclusion they were searching for. Asthmtaics do have sometimes severe response to smoke, that is fact, but they also have these responses to cut grass, perfume, etc etc. It's a reactionary disease of the lung causing it to react to many fumes and smoking is just another one of those things.

Again, I don't smoke, I can't stand the smell of it, but I don't support trampling the rights of the smokers, especially when done in a blatant lie (health concerns), and that's exactly what this is, trampling the rights of one group.

Do you mind posting a link to a site showing where this was voted on by the general public in WI. I wasn't aware that a smoking ban was ever on the state wide ballot. I thought it was passed by the small minded political hacks who have never cited had the studies showing that second hand smoke was a serious health issue.
You Know, The type that feel their role in life is to protect the public from themselves. While adding to the power of
Big Brother !!

Rip, in your proffesional opinion, would it be safe to say that outlawing shaking hands at autumn oaks would be a greater benefit to everyones health, than to outlaw smoking outdoors?

Elvis, I don't get into professional opinion on these boards, but it is my PERSONAL opinion (albeit shaped by years of education and scientific study), that yes, shaking hands is much, much more dangerous than second hand smoke outdoors. The science backs that up as well.

It's kind of hard to argue it any other way, virus and bacterial transmission is huge, hand washing is the number one way to quell disease, and handshaking contributes to a large number of diseases/sickness in the general population. That is scientific fact, proven.

Second hand outdoor smoke has never been linked to any health problems unless as above directly breathed by an asthmatic, which is a very, very low number especially compared to the number of people that get sick from handshaking.

What if they suddenly decided that you didn't have a "need" to coonhunt any more? What if they decided that your favorite food needed to be banned? (that's coming along the way too, don't think it isn't, smoking is just what is on the chopping block now but this administration has made it clear that food is up next).

It's personal rights issue, not a smoker vs nonsmoker issue.

NEWPORT INDIANA, stores more nerve gas there to kill the whole State Of Indiana and Sournding States. I would be more woried, about that more than a little cig smoke!!!! It has been on our local News from Terra Haute, Indiana for years about them wanting to destroy it, but nothing has been done with it. Grab a cig and take a puff , because if that nerve gas was too be bombed or messed with it would be allot worse than a little secondary smoke. But those Hoosiers are so smart to ban a little smoke from a old man that has smoked for 40years. I'm a non smoker and just don't beleive the right to tell our nation of people to do what the radicals have done. JMO

Sorry, not what he was asking for. You posted a single town voting on it.

He said state of Wisconson, not a city, and he was clearly referring to the state wide ban in the context of the discussion.

The article you linked was one town taking "credit" for the ban and saying that town voted on it. It doesn't say anything about the citizens of the state voting on it.

Are you sure that was a state wide vote ? I must have missed that line.
Maybe you could show me the statewide referendum that was voted on.
Thanks
