PUP

My pup out of Cotton didn't make it. Had him at vet for two and a half days but he died sunday morning. Be careful where you buy your vaccines. I lost 2 pups and both had their vaccines. I've got a couple of nice prospects in the works and am ready to hit the timber. Y'all keep'em lookin' Up!

Winter Classic

Darren,

Hope you had a safe trip home. Looking forward to hear on her progress. Her Sire and Dam have done some winning at some of the larger events so she has it in her blood to carry it on. I know she will get the hunting and chance she deserves by you, This time of the year the dogs up here don't get the woods time they need with the weather. You should be coming into some nice hunting.

Mae Belle

Scott I’ve got a nice place to hunt young dogs. It is rolling hills but no one has access to hunt it. I had 8-10 coons at a time on my deer feeders. I put out some coon feeders and they are wearing them out. I also regained hunting permission in that tough swamp bottom so Belle with get exposed to both terrains. I’ll be picking up the other Bell this weekend. I’m sure we can partner on her. I’ll tune her up and try to GrChNtCh her in the upcoming months.

Darren, It was great talking with ya down in Mississippi. Scott has set ya up with a couple nice ones. I'm sure you will bring out the natural ability that Mae Belle has. She is well on her way with a lot of potential that just needs brought to the surface. Thanks for all the good words on ol' Boss. When we get another litter out of him I will sure set ya up. Hunt

Drake and I hunted Friday night in the rain. I hunted a young male I call Hermit. He is lightly started. Drake had a 5 yr old gyp that was a decent dog but has been stood up for a long time. Dogs didn’t hunt well on first drop and we finally gathered them up and moved. We cut Dolly and Hermit down a big hollow and Dolly struck followed by Hermit. They moved down the hollow and Dolly loaded up. Hermit came in and treed good with her. They had the meat and we rolled it out. We cut once more but didn’t get struck. It was pouring rain so we called it a night. Last night we cut Dolly and Mae Bell loose down a big hollow. Dolly struck and trailed 100 yds the wrong way. She came back picked the track up the other way and soon treed. She is s treedog. Mae Bell is still getting used to me and was in and out. Dolly had 2 up the tree and we rolled one out alive. Mae Bell got bit pretty good so maybe she will get fired up. Next drop we cut Dolly and Hermit. Hermit struck followed by Dolly
They did a good job until they hit the swimming water and it fell apart. We waded in and caught them up. I’ve got my daughters basketball game tonight and we will hit it Wednesday night.

HUNT

Drake and I hunted last night. It was hot and humid here. 70 degrees in February!! The Dolly gyp that Drake is hunting continues to get better. The first drop we cut Dolly and Mae Belle. Dolly struck in at about 150 yds and got after a good track. She pushed the coon a little over 500 yds and blew up on a tree. We got to her and she had the meat. Next drop we cut Dolly and Hermit. Hermit struck and went left up a ditch. I ended up getting him out from under a bluff with a creek running under it. Dolly had went the other way so we drove on down and she was locked down treed in some steep hills. We got to her and she was slick treed. Next drop we cut Dolly ,Mae Belle, and Hermit. Dolly struck left and soon loaded up followed by Hermit. They treed hard and were up a big pine tree. We found the coon and petted them up good. We called it a night. I'll be headed to Kentucky this weekend to pick up a female owned by Scott Vandenhueval out of Tramp. I'm ready to get her here and get her in the woods.Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

Picked up Belle in West Virginia yesterday. She is a good looking female and I'm looking forward to getting her in the woods. We are going tonight and hopefully see some progress out of the young dogs!! Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

We hunted for a little while last night. We went with a buddy of mine and his NtCh black and tan. First drop we cut Dolly , Hermit , and the Black dog. Dolly and the Black dog didn't want to go the way we cut them. I got after Dolly and she went on down the creek. Hermit struck followed by Dolly. The black dog struck left and fell treed on a deer feeder. Hermit soon backed him and treed right. Dolly was trying to tree left but soon pulled to Hermit and the black dog. They had a coon and we rolled it out to Hermit. Next drop we cut Dolly and the black dog.The black dog struck and Dolly struck left. The black dog located and treed and Dolly backed him. They had the meat. Last drop we cut Dolly and Hermit loose. Hermit struck followed by Dolly. It wasn't a good track and Dolly treed with Hermit backing. It was a den and we called it a night.

Mr Jack I appreciate the words of encouragement. I know that patience is a virtue. Our younger generation wants instant gratification in whatever they are doing and I know hard hunting will pay off but it sure gets frustrating at times. I’m just going to keep them in the woods and keep my nose to the ole grindstone. I’ve kept up with your post and looks like you got some sure nice ones as usual. I’ve got the Belle gyp here from Scott out of ole Tramp and I’m going to get her hunted up. Hopefully I can get her in shape and finish her as Scott has a first on her already.

HUNT

Ive only gotten to hunt Monday and Tuesday night this week. Hopefully I can go tomorrow night. My daughters basketball season is over and I will be hitting the woods 4 to 5 nights a week. Hopefully I can get the rust knocked off these females and get them clicking. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!!

We hunted for a while Friday night. My soon to be daughter in law went with us. We cut Hermit , Dolly, and Belle loose first drop. Dolly struck followed by Hermit and Belle. They ran a short track and Hermit loaded up followed by the females. It was slick and I made them go on. Dogs soon struck back in and Belle fell treed followed by Hermit and Dolly. We looked the tree over and it was den tree. Next drop Dolly struck followed by Hermit and Belle. They ran a good track over 900 yds and blew up on a tree. Dolly treed first and Belle and Hermit came on it simultaneously. We drove around within about 350 yds and walked in to them. It was hot and Belle is out of shape but they all treed good. They had a coon and we rolled it out to them. After we got them cooled off in the creek, we moved to another spot. It was pouring rain on this drop but dogs hunted out good. Dolly struck followed by Hermit and Belle. Hermit soon loaded up treed and both gyps backed him. It was another den tree. I cut them off that tree and they headed down the branch. Hermit struck followed by Belle and Dolly. Belle soon loaded up and Dolly and Hermit backed her. We didn't find a coon and I think it was slick. We were soaked and called it a night. I will be hitting it hard this week and hopefully get these dogs tuned in to what I want. Belle is a very good looking gyp with a big mouth. She is out of shape but I think she will be really nice when I get her right. Dolly is coming around and hunting better. She needs to continue to get better. She had not been hunted in over a year. Hermit is 14 months old and will be a nice dog with hunting and experience. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!

HUNT

Drake and I hunted for a little while last night. First drop I decided to cut Hermit alone down a big hardwood hollow. Hermit is 15 mths old and wasn't hunted til I got him a few weeks ago. He has progressed pretty good. He hunted out about 300 yds and circled back in to me. I loaded him up and we moved on down. Next drop we cut Dolly , Hermit and Frank ( Drake's 6mth old Pup ). Dolly struck followed by Hermit. The pup came back after a short attempt to go with the others. They ran a fairly good track about 600 yds up a hollow and loaded up treed. We walked in to them and they were on a den tree. Next drop we cut Belle ( TRAMP x Skeeter) female and a young dog. Belle hunted out good for about 20 minutes but soon hit a road and we caught her up. Next drop we cut Dolly , Belle , and Hermit. Dolly struck followed by Hermit and Belle opening here and there. Belle is a little tight on the ground. Hermit soon slammed a tree and both gyps backed him. They really sounded good on the wood. They were on a Huge Poplar tree but Mr. Coon wasn't there. I adjusted the attitudes a little and sent them on down the branch. Dolly picked the track up and they soon were 675 yds down the branch when all 3 dogs blew up on a tree. We made our way to them and they had the meat this time. We let Drake's pup out and he was at the tree so we rolled him out. We called it a night. Starting all over has been rough. I'm lucky to have good friends that have helped me out and dogs are steadily improving. Time will tell. Y'all keep'em lookin' up!!

HUNT

Drake and I hunted last night. First drop we cut Belle (Tramp x Skeeter) and Mae Bell loose in a swamp bottom. Belle hunted out good but didn't get struck. We loaded them up and moved on down the bottom. We cut Hermit and Dolly loose and Dolly struck a bad track and started working it down the bottom. Hermit had been quiet but son loaded up treed with Dolly coming in and backing him. They were on a group of big bay trees and we couldn't get a coon to look. The bottom was pretty much flooded out due to all the rain so we moved to the hills. We cut Belle, Hermit and Mae Bell. Belle opened about 200 yds down the hollar and Hermit opened a few times and treed. Belle backed him and they were on a big poplar with lots of buds but no coons!! Drake cut Dolly on down the hollar and she was struck so we just sent them on towards her. Belle soon loaded up and all dogs were there and it was den tree. We called it a night and will get after them tonight.
