Maybe it's cause I'm in the holler. Maybe fog on prairie. Anybody eat persimmons? TD got an outdoor magazine and a guy was talking about picking wild berries and fruits. Said rule of thumb for persimmons is not ripe till they fall off the tree DUUUUUUUH. Must have written article for city slickers. Will be making persimmon pudding this weekend for reunion they love it. Have persimmons from last year. TD says coons like em too.

Posted by Mike Milam on 09-20-2011 01:57 PM:

Coons love persimmons. Dog can't trail them when they leave the tree. Most of the time the tree will be slick. Rex if it will make you feel better I will say your in your sixties. How is that.lol Linda we lost our persimmon tree. What is the ole saying if you find a knife it is going to be a bad winter?

the day Maw passed away, the sisters came over and we split up her personal belongings, girls ask me first what I wanted being's I'm the youngest and only boy....maw had jewelry and a 8 month old caddy.I took her recipes..maw had 3 shoe boxes full.over 2000 recipes..most hand written or typed out..only woman I ever seen with a typewriter in the kitchen...Maw and Hazel traded thousands of recipes over the years..I know if she were reading this she would want to share some of her persimmon recipes with you Linda..most likely you have them or they are close to the same.but I thought I would post them.....Hazel made the best Tater chip cookies I ever ate....

now on a side note...my simmon tree came from the old milage farm on the way to the club.just south of where huckstep lives and straight off that corner you can still see the tree out there in the middle.think its has very little life to it now..its one that gets ripe around the 2nd week of Sept.mine in the yard here has its fruit turning orange colored but looks like another two weeks on mine..most ones around here ,their fruit don't get ripe till they are frosted on a few times...some of mine are as big as a Banty hens egg.good sized this year ,just not as many as last year..

We went to the emergency room and he is in better shape now than what he was when they took him there. Seen 4 dead coons today between Mt. Vernon and Salem on rt. 37.
