Travis, Your absolutly right......Ruby is the best Female I've had the pleasure to hunt with..She can make a bad night good in a second and a good night great...The more times you turn her loose the better she gets...No quit in her just action packed one locate stay put hard, hard tree dog..........Larry

Had a good hunt on a bad night with good friend Kyle last night..Turned Gun Smoke and Fire loose., Fire off Gun and Darrel Browns and Randy Shelbys Gr Nt Ruby female..3 bad tracks and treed 4 coons....

Good friends and poor weather but ended with a good weekend..John Ferrari, Jeff Kathman, and old English man Richard (Dick) Johnson here for the past weekend with the wind and rain and snow it started on thursday night in the hard rain and ended sat. night when it started raining again ....We did manage to tree a few in between and heard some good old Iowa BS ???? How many of your great dogs of the past started before one year old or even 6 months old? How many started after 2 years old and made a good hound? Just asking. Im training two females out of Top Gun. They are now 6 and 7 months old.

Mine started kinda early, first coon all alone at 6 months old, won his first UKC hunt at 10 months old, finished to Nite Ch. at 12 months old, won 2 nite ch. cast at Southern English days at 14 months old, made Gr.Nt. at 16 months old and won Friday Night Gr.Nt. Ch. at English Days at the same age. His name is Gr.Nite Ch. Bloody Creek Cannon Bawl.. not sure who makes crosses like his (GUN X LADY) but I wish they would make more like this....HA!

Josh, Every male here has been a gr nt at 2 years old for 9 generations but to answer your question I don't even mess with a 6 month old...When they are old enough and mature enough to keep up with the older ones then I'll start them slowly...I think way to much is being made of these 5-6 month old pups running and treeing....I've seen it but has no bearing on the end product in my opinion..............Thanks Larry

Good answer and good info. I will give these pups every chance in the world to make it. We in Tennessee don't have the coons or the hunting spots that you northern boys have but we find a way to make it happen.I will get some pictures of my two females out of Top Gun up tomorrow. Thanks again
