SNOW

I saw the latest data on the snowfall in Guin, AL and we got 12.5 inches. Don't remember this much snow at one time. Me and my little girl Jenna kay had a blast building a snowman and playing in the snow. Even got a day off work!! Gone hit the woods tonight. The roads are clear but the woods are still full of snow. See if ole Cotton can get it done in the snow tonight.

Wow

I have never seen that much snow in my life! Becarefull out there tonight those pine limbs will be popping like firecrackers.

Darren that's a lot of snow for the SOUTH!! Looks like yaw had some fun. I wish we would have got some so Mason and I could have made him a Snowman but no luck this time around. If you hunt in it and those hounds make a tree post some good pictures. Take Care in that snow and Good Hunting!

Darren,
Looks like your daughter had fun making a snowman anyway. Hope that weather does not last too long for you and you can get out hunting. We have not really had much snow so far this year but the ground is covered in most places. It has just been plain old cold though. Temps here were almost 20 degrees below normal for February and normal is cold enough.

HUNTS

I have been crazy busy at work. We were off one day for the snow and seems like it has taken 3 days to get caught up!!
I have had a few hunts that I just haven't had time to put on here. I hunted alone last night and took Cotton and a young male I got back out of Logan and the Dixie gyp out of my old Dual Grand Frosty gyp and Hornet. Cotton ended up 2.75 miles from where I cut her loose. I found her cold trailing coming up a small creek. I ended up calling her out as it was late. Wind was blowing hard and raining. The male I call Sam ended up in the usual "Logan" style alone on the other end of the hardwood. He was locating a tree but couldn't settle on it. I think he has a lot of potential and I'm glad I could get him back.

Hunted Cotton last night. Cut her loose and she left hard. She went 200 yds and blowed up treed. she had a coon and it was late so that was the only turn out we made. My hunting has been slack with work and the weather but hopefully get wound up next week. Yall keepem Lookin up,

Hunt

I hunted Saturday night alone. I cut Cy by himself. He didn't leave too hard but I gave him a little incentive and he soon struck at about 300 yds. He worked a trailing track about 1200 yds and treed. He had his coon. I cut Cotton and Gritt loose. Cotton got deep and I barely heard her strike. I moved around and heard her treed and gritt was treeing too. I soon found the coon and with all this rain he slipped out of the tree to gritt. Gritt finished him off and it was late so I called it a night. Gone hit it tonight. Yall keep'em Lookin up!!!

HUNT

Jason I haven't been getting to hunt a lot but hopefully am getting wound back up some.

Took Cotton, Cy and Sam out last night. First drop we cut Cotton and Sam. My buddy brought his pup out of Makin Music Mac that I sold him. Cotton blew out of the country in short order. Sam opened a few times and then silence. I cleared a couple pine trees out of the road and finally heard Cotton open DEEP. She was 6/10's of a mile and going. We moved around and I seen on the Garmin that Sam was headed to Cotton. We got closer and Cotton was just opening once every 7 or 8 minutes. She finally just blew up on a tree. Sam acted like he couldn't smell it but I soon spotted the coon. That coon fell out of the tree to Zach's pup and Cotton finished him off. We laid a drag and that pup really showed a lot of interest. Drake is going tonight and I will be hitting it tomorrow night.

HUNT

My hunting has been very limited due to work. Both my son's vehicles are torn up and they have been driving my hunting truck. Me and the dogs have taken a break I guess. Hopefully I will be back in action soon. My job usually calms down a little after schools get out for the summer.
I have a couple pups and a started young dog for sale at good prices if anyone is looking. Just give me a call for details.

Hunt

I took cotton to our ukc hunt Saturday night. She has been hunted probly 3 times in over 2 months. I drew 2 walkers. First drop I got 3rd strike and cotton hit up. I treed her but knew I messed up as soon as I did it. She opened again one time about 50 yds to the left and loaded up. I treed her and she was joined by the walker male. Coon seen. Next drop I got 2nd strike and cotton showed them how to run a coon. They got in some blackberries and soon treed. I was cautious and took second tree. Coon seen. Last drop we struck a bad track and finally the two walkers treed. Cotton came in late and half hearted treed. No coon seen. Hunt over and I costed her the cast. Guess I'm rusty too. Looking forward to hittin the woods tonight. Yall keepem Lookin up!

HUNT

Thanks Steve. Hopefully things are settling down for me.

I hunted for a little while last night. First drop I cut my two young males, Cy and Gritt up a bottom with a small creek running through it. They left out hard and there was complete silence. I sat there sweating sitting on the tailgate. I looked at my garmin and they were 450 yds down the creek without a bark. I moved up the road and cut Cotton loose up the same bottom. I checked on the males and they were almost completely across the bottom. I drove around and heard Gritt open on the creek. Cy soon opened as well but it wasn't a good track. They banged around on it and soon tried to cross the road on a small ditch. I just caught them up and loaded them in the box. I moved around and got a reading on Cotton and she was across the bottom as well. I finally caught her coming across a powerline road. She had covered a lot of ground without a bark. It was late so I just called it a night. These ole hot nights make it rough on dog and handler. I'm just happy to be back in the woods. Gotta get the dust knocked off these ole blueticks!!

HUNT

I was able to hunt last night. First drop I cut Cy along with my year old pup Gritt. Gritt has been hunted a handful of times and I put one coon on him. He is coon crazy. Cy struck a track in at about 200 yds followed by Gritt. They moved the track out good for about 200 more yards and then hung up for a little while. I soon heard Gritt just load up and was immediately followed by Cy. They blowed the top out and I made my way to them. They were on a steep creek bank and that is what was giving them some trouble. I soon found the coon and gave them a pat on the head. That ole coon soon fell out in the creek and tried to get away. They had a good fight and finally dispatched him. Ole Gritt seems to be a natural and I am very pleased with him with his limited hunting. Next drop I cut Cotton and a pup out of my old stock of dogs. They left out and Cotton soon struck a bad track. She worked it up and done a good job of skipping out and getting it going. She soon loaded up with that screaming locate and treed. I made my way to her and she was on a den. I called it a night. Looks like they are in the process of getting me some help hired at work, so I can hit the woods!!

Purchased this young gyp "ally"off Donny McCane in March he said she came from you. He didn't mess with her much and was told she was still green and not hunted in months. So the night I brung her home I took her with my 3yr old male here in the mountains of southeast ky
1st drop cut them together she went her own way and struck a track and got hung up on a cliff line drop so I made my way to her and bring her back to truck. The male dog got deep and struck and ended up crossing a couple hollers and treed. We loaded her up and drove around to him. Tried sending Ally to him but she went off and got struck along a creek. I went to my male found the coon and loaded him back up and she acted hung up. Until I got close enough to her to notice her leaned up treed or trying to tree and had a coon. The dang thing must of slipped cause it fell out lol. Ever since she has improved each hunt. She is off the Jobe x Magic cross. She has ran trash one me 1 time and since k corrected her hasn't touched another to my knowledge. She seems to have a cold nose and head full of sense. Big mouth and small built. She hunts well and trees with others. Recently split and held pressure. This week I solo her out. I made 5 drops with her alon. Never stood at my feet went hunting. Made 2 tree 1 was a legit den and other was to thick to get a good shine spot. And ran a track into the ground under some cliffs which she stayed in lol. Other 2 drops never pulled a back. We have extremely thin coon here. Figured I'd give u a update on her. Not bad in my book for a little female just been hunted hard a couple months. How does her littermates do?

Kyle my Cyclone (Cy) is a brother to her. He is treeing his own coon. Huge mouth and a good motor. He is independent and is a nice tree dog. He ain't too bad to look at either. Good luck with your gyp!! Keep'em Lookin' up!!

I'm hoping to get some coon out on her and that will help her make it all come together. I have plans on crossing her to my old dog. He is a full littermate brother to Jobe. It would be a uncle/niece cross. I just crossed my old dog to Rose (zebxdixie) so I'm hopin she took and get a few pups
