HUNT

Drake took Cotton out last night for a hunt. He reported to me that they made 3 trees but couldn't find her coons. Unlike her to not have the meat. He said that they were huge trees and he ain't the best at finding the coon. I am looking forward to hitting the woods tonight!!

Hunt

Drake and myself went last night. Cold and a full moon. Cotton struck a track and got it up and going good. Cy put in with her and they soon were pushing him hard. He hit some rough stuff and they worked thru it and soon were really putting the pressure on him. Cotton was screaming like she was biting his tail when she hushed and started chopping. No locate at all. I got in there and it was as I thought, he had ran into an underground spring. Cotton will not put her head in the ground but will stand at a hole and bark. We gathered them up and called it a night. We will hit it tonight. Yall keep'em Lookin up!! Darren

Hunt

Drake , Zack Guin and myself hunted last night. First drop we cut Cy, Cotton,and Sadie loose. Cy struck followed by Cotton and Sadie. They got deep and got the track up and going. They soon all split up and Cy got trees over 1000 yds from where they struck. We got to him and he was hammering the tree. He was in a bunch of bay trees growing into a huge pine. We couldn't find his coon. Cotto was across a paved road and was screaming that she was about to catch ole ringtail. She let out a locate like she had her tail cut off. We waded 600 yds of rough cutover to finally get to her. Sadie had came in and was really treeing good as well. She was on a large den but I soon spotted him on the outside. I shot and he started coming down. He jumped out and they caught him on the ground after about 30 yds. They dispatched him and we started that long walk to the truck. Cotton had went over a mile from where we cut loose. We moved and recut all 3 dogs. Cotton struck followed by Sadie and Cy. Sadie headed left up a large hardwood holler. Cotton and Cy were headed straight away across a large swamp. Sadie treed but ended up moving before we could get too her. We got to the truck and I barely heard Cotton and Cy really pushing the track. They were 1.23 miles from the truck. We started moving to get closer. Finally we go within 500 yds and Cotton was blowing the top out of a tree. We crossed a pine thicket and finally hit some good timber. Cotton was on another large tree and Zack spotted her coon. Cy cell into the tree but got leashed back. We rolled this one out to Cotton and my gritt pup. It was a large coon but they handled him pretty quick. We have hunted Cotton every night this week and she is really starting to hit her stride again. Drake is going to take her tonight. Yall keep'em Lookin up!!

Hunt

Took Cotton and Griffin took Rickett last night. 1st drop Cotton struck followed by Rickett. Cotton hushed and just fell treed. Rickett went on down bottom. Cotton had meat. Cut Cotton on to Rickett but she went 250 yds to left and struck a track. She worked it down the bottom and treed. She had another coon. Loaded up Cotton and went to Rickett treed. He was on those hedges and didn't see a coon. Cut Cotton alone and she struck in at 300 yds and worked the track 400 more yds and came treed. She had the meat. Good night for Cotton. 3 trees and 3 coons. Yall keep'em Lookin up.

Drake and myself hunted last night for a little while. First drop we cut Cyclone by himself. He left out and stayed gone for good while. I checked the Garmin and he was 675 yds. I heard him open so we drove up on a hill to hear him better. The wind was blowing pretty bad but we got close enough to hear him load up treed. We walked about 400 yds to him and he was hammering on a large red oak. We couldn't find his coon. I really think he missed him. I am going to give him a little more time to figure the missing out on his own and then I will fix it!!
Next drop we cut Cotton and Drakes pup. Cotton went about 450 yds and just fell treed. We got to her and it was a large den tree. I walked her about 50 yds and recut her. She went 300 yds and struck a bad track. She drifted deeper and soon loaded up treed. We got to her and she was on another large den right on the side of the creek. The wind was really whipping pretty good by now so we called it a night at about 11:30.

Drake and Zack took cotton for a couple drops last night. Drake said they treed up a large tree but couldn't find it and treed up a bunch of those hedges. I will be hitting the woods tonight. Yall keepem lookin up.

Hunted last night in the cold and the wind. My cousin went with me and took his young English dog. First drop we cut Cy and his male named Gus. Gus is around 13mths old. Gus struck and Cy didn't say anything for a little while. Gus headed up the bottom and Cy opened a few times but didn't sound like himself. Gus soon had that track rolling pretty good but Cy just split off and started cold trailing. I told my cousin that he was after some of that speed beef. After a few more minutes he crossed the field and headed across a paved road. My cousin finally hit him with the Tritronics . We drove up the road and caught him coming back the truck. I moved back down to the bottom and Cy was treed. We went to him and he was on a large den tree. Next drop we cut Cotton, Cy and Gus. Cotton struck followed by Gus and Cy. Gus stayed close and Cy and Cotton headed across the bottom. Cotton got about 400 yds and loaded up treed. Cy soon treed as well. Gus headed towards them. We headed to the dogs and soon got to Cotton but Cy was split treed about 150 yds to the left. Both were on large den trees. My cousin had gotten wet, so we called it a night. Just couldn't get one on the outside but was proud of Cy having enough sense to quit the deer and get on a coon.

HUNT

Drake, Zack and myself hunted last night for a little while. It was cold and there was a lot of water in the bottom from all the rain. First drop we cut Cy, Zack's Sadie gyp and Gritt. Cy struck followed by Sadie and Gritt. Cy worked the track about 200 yds in the bottom and Sadie headed that way but ended up deeper. Cy let out his big bluetick dying bawl locate and started hammering. Gritt was opening here and there and headed into the tree. We got there and I was leashing up Cy when Zack said he found the coon. Sadie ended up coming into the tree. My Gritt pup treed on the tree some and acted very interested. Next drop we cut Cotton and 2 pups loose. Gritt and Zack's pup Mojo out of Banjo and Sadie. Sadie struck but something didn't sound right as Cotton opened once and skipped out down the bottom. Sadie crossed an open field and eventually quit and went back towards Cotton in the bottom. Cotton was cold trailing and Sadie hit a hot short track and treed. We drove around and I got out of the truck and could hear Sadie in the ground. Sure enough she was on a armadillo. I cut me a muscadine vine and she will think twice about the next diller she comes across. Cotton was still cold trailing in the bottom in a rough area full of water and ice. She soon was over 800 yds deep and we moved to get closer. When we got out of the truck, she was blowing the top out!! We made our way to her and cut Zack's Mojo pup to her as well. She had a coon and we rolled it out to the pup. He was a little hesitant to get ahold of him so Cotton dispatched him quickly. Drake is hunting Cotton tonight and I will hunt her tomorrow night.

Cotton looked good again last night. 1st drop was a quick track that ended in an underground spring.
2nd track was a long one that ended up under a large coon. Gone hit it tonight!!

COLD last night. Drake, Zack and myself hunted last night for a little while. First drop we cut the young dogs loose. Cy and Sadie went hunting good but just never got struck.We finally rounded them up and moved on to a different spot. We cut Cy and Sadie loose again and they got deep. Sadie finally struck and got treed but didn't sound real sure about it. We didn't see a coon. I finally rounded up ole Cy as he had not gotten struck. Next drop we cut Cy, Cotton, and Sadie. It was bout 10 o'clock and there was silence. Cy finally opened deep in the bottom. Cotton soon opened and they worked a bad track for awhile. Cy got treed and Cotton split about 50 yds past him. Cy was on those hedges with the berries and Cotton was on a large tree but it was surrounded by those hedges as well. We couldn't find either coon and i think they just missed it. We have a UKC hunt at our club tonight and I will be hunting Cotton. Hopefully I can get another NTCH win with a little luck.

Good to hear you have been getting out with The Queen (Cotton) and some young dogs. Good luck in the hunts with her getting her finished out to Grnite. Both You and Her deserve it. Ol' Logan is chugging along well her in this cold winter weather.

We hunted last night. Took cotton , Cy and other guys had a walker gyp. Not a good hunt. Got deep quick. Walker treed slick. Cotton split on den. Pretty much the whole night on one turnout. Yall keep'em Lookin up.
